Chapter 4 - Sarah's First Experience

That night, Sarah sat in front of her computer, unable to sleep.

Tryout Studio's next game, Kingdom Adventure, was set to be released in two days.

As a member of MG Team, she was already eager to play it.

She had tried it offline before; the game featured 3D graphics and was an advanced, enhanced version of Brave Battle.

Both the graphics and gameplay had been greatly improved.

This meant that the focus of the MG Team would shift to the new game.

To avoid falling behind other teams and to become champions of the game competition, they had to plan early.

However, with two days left, she wondered if there were any other fun games to play as a pastime.

She didn't expect any company to produce a product that could surpass Tryout Studio.

So, she sat in front of her computer and started a live stream.

"Wow, Sarah is live-streaming!"

"I love you."

"Congratulations, Sarah, on winning the Sixth Game Competition!"

"Congratulations, Sarah, we will always support you!"

"Are you worried about something, streaming so late?"

After she started the live stream, the number of viewers rapidly increased, and the bullet comments became faster and faster.

As the only female member of the MG Team, her sweet appearance and superb skills had won her many fans.

A flurry of gifts began to flood the screen.

Sarah smiled slightly, "I'm not worried about anything, I just want to play some games. Come play with me, everyone."

"We'll watch you play, Sarah Goddess!"

"Let's play Brave Battle, I haven't seen you stream a game in a while."

"Lady Sarah has been busy with competitions, she hasn't had time to stream."

"I heard Tryout Studio's next game is about to launch, can Lady Sarah play it?"

Sarah shook her head: "I can only play it once the game is officially released. Does anyone have any game recommendations I could try?"

"I recommend Castle Adventure, you go through levels in a castle to rescue the princess, it's really fun!"

"Moe Moe Adventure, a very cute game, highly recommended."

"Beacon Fire Gunfight, a pixel shooting game, is also pretty good!"

Various game recommendations started to fill the bullet comments.

Sarah opened Steam. "I'll search for them."

When clicking the search page, she accidentally clicked on the game size ranking.

This size ranking was quite useless, as the games were ranked by their file size and didn't reflect their quality or fun factor.

Steam had announced that this ranking would be removed in the next update.

After waiting two seconds, the ranking appeared.

At the top of the ranking were the smallest games, only a few KB in size.

How much content could a few KB games have? Su Sarah didn't want to waste time on such games.

At this point, someone in the bullet comments encouraged her.

"Check the ranking in reverse order, what's the largest game size on the platform right now?"

"How big could it be? The maximum is probably 700MB. I heard the upcoming kingdom adventure is 3GB, it should be visible in the ranking."

"Let's watch the PV video for Kingdom Adventure, Milady Sarah."

The bullet comments all hoped Sarah would click the reverse ranking, because Kingdom Adventure would surely be ranked first in reverse order.

They wanted to watch the game's promotional video with Sarah and hear the comments.

"Alright, then I'll watch it with everyone." Sarah clicked the reverse ranking.

A few seconds later, the new ranking appeared.

Everyone saw Kingdom Adventure, but the game was not ranked first; instead, it was ranked second.

The game ranked first was called Pirates of the Caribbean.

The live stream's bullet comments immediately erupted.

"What the heck!? The largest capacity isn't Kingdom Adventure?"

"What is Pirates of the Caribbean? I've never heard of this game."

"The ranking must be wrong!"

Sarah's gaze focused on the file size next to the game title: 30GB, a full 30GB.

Sarah initially thought she was seeing things.

"This game is actually 30GB, did everyone see that?" Sarah asked.

"We saw it, it must be fake, how could there be a game with such a large capacity?"

"What is Steam doing?! There must be a program error, quickly get the programmers to fix the bug."

Facing everyone's doubts, Sarah decided to click in and check the game's description.

She entered the game's description page.

[ Description: Set in the Caribbean Sea, the game integrates elements such as role-playing, action, adventure, strategy, and naval battles. Players can role-play as a pirate leading a crew to explore the seas and engage in naval battles.

They can also role-play as a merchant for trade, become a soldier guarding the seas and fighting pirates, or become an adventurer, leaving their mark on this world. ]

The simple description had already caught Sarah's eye. "The synopsis for this game is pretty good."

The bullet comments started flooding in again.

"It's just a gimmick, it'll be a mess once you get in."

"I agree, it's probably just simple character battles, running and grinding maps with no novelty."

"Integrating so many things, each piece of content is probably quite crude."

The bullet comments were uniformly pessimistic about the game.

However, the appearance of this game did attract the interest of the live stream's audience, and the number of viewers was rising again.

Sarah placed her mouse over the PV play button: "Let's watch the PV for this game, I'm quite curious too."

Sarah clicked full screen, then clicked play.

Accompanied by awe-inspiring sound effects, a black warship broke through the waves.

Cannons ignited smoke, and undead crew members lunged at pirates.

Under the light, skeletons gleamed, and a grand naval battle scene unfolded before everyone.

Everyone was captivated by the PV footage, and Sarah was also engrossed, feeling it was even more spectacular than watching a blockbuster movie.

"Holy cow! This PV quality is amazing!"

"Regardless of the game, this PV was made with care."

"The PV is good, it looks like movie quality, the actual game graphics will definitely be much worse than this."

"It's impossible for a game to have this kind of graphics, PV promotions, those who know, know."

Sarah watched the one-and-a-half-minute PV video without blinking.

It was indeed stunning. If a movie could be made based on the PV, she would definitely buy a ticket to watch it.

But this was a game, and the PV couldn't represent the game's quality.

Sarah glanced at the game's price, 298.

For a major game developer, this price wasn't high, but for an unknown game, was this price worth buying?

She looked at the sales quantity, 3 copies.

This sales figure was a bit shocking, and then there was the game's release time, three hours ago.

The promotion for this game was really inadequate, she hadn't seen any advertisements for it.

In any case, Sarah was already attracted by the PV, and she decided to buy the game to check it out.

A price of 298 wasn't much to her, and besides, Steam had a two-hour refund feature.

If it wasn't fun, she could just get a refund.
