Chapter 8 - Pursuit

At a certain location in the Land of Fuyu stood FADA—the Fuyu Authorized Defense Agency.

A government organization responsible for maintaining the peace and safety of Fuyu and its citizens, operating directly under the Sovereign Apex—the absolute rulers of both Fuyu and Hinkon.

A certain man had just learned of the incident involving Tuziku.

"This is unbelievable! Never in the past twenty years has anyone threatened the peace of Fuyu… and suddenly one kid managed to kill 115 of our citizens?!" He slammed his fist onto his desk.

"Have we sent anyone to deal with this yet, Agira?" he asked sharply.

"Yes, Chief!" his secretary replied.

"As we speak, General Mayku and his men are already in pursuit of the fugitive, sir."

"In that case, get me on the line with Mayku. Now!"

ring… ring… ring…

They stared at the phone in silence as it rang.

"...Answer that, Agira."

"Yes, Chief!"

ring…

"Hello?" she answered.

"...Sir, it's General Mayku!" Agira reported.

"Perfect timing. Give me the phone!"

He took the phone from her.

"Mayku, give me an update on the situation!" the Chief demanded.

"...Fine. I give you permission—but do not let him escape!"

"What's happening, sir?" Agira asked.

"The fugitive is trying to escape across the Grand Sea using a sailboat. Mayku needed clearance to pursue him," he explained.

"But sir, if we give Mayku permission to pursue him at sea, won't that also allow the fugitive to navigate safely?" Agira questioned.

"Yes. It's a gamble we'll have to take," he replied.

"Make the necessary preparations, Agira!"

Meanwhile, at the sea dock…

"Alright, ladies—we're pursuing him at sea. Tracking crew, you're with me. Get onboard the ship!" Mayku commanded.

"As for the rest of you, make yourselves useful and clean up the bodies back there," he added.

"Let's go, before our little terrorist escapes."

"Yes, sir!" the soldiers replied in perfect sync.

General Mayku and his tracking crew began their pursuit of Tuziku across the Grand Sea.

In the distance, they spotted Tuziku drifting across the water.

Meanwhile, Tuziku struggled to comprehend the chaos unfolding around him.

"Ughh..." he groaned.

This is bad... I'm losing a lot of blood from my wound…

And those guys are chasing me across the water.

They'll catch up soon!

boom… splshh…

"Sink that little boat, boys!" Mayku laughed.

Tuziku clenched his fists, determination burning in his eyes.

I have to get to shore!

As Mayku and his men closed in, Tuziku desperately steered the sailboat toward land in an attempt to avoid being sunk.

boom… boom…

A bullet tore through the side of the boat, causing seawater to rush inside.

"Sh—shit!" he shouted.

The boat's been hit! I'm sinking!

"Sir, we've punched a hole in the boat. It'll sink any second now!" a soldier shouted.

As Tuziku neared the shores of Hinkon, the sailboat was almost completely submerged beneath the waves.

I'll have to swim the rest of the way!

splshh…

He dove overboard.

"Hmm?"

Does he plan on swimming the rest of the distance? Mayku thought.

Struggling through the water, Tuziku swam toward the shore of Hinkon while Mayku and his men continued their pursuit.

boom… boom…

Finally, Tuziku reached the sandy shoreline.

Panting heavily, he immediately sprinted toward a massive forest looming ahead.

"Hahh… hahh…" he gasped.

At that moment, Mayku and his men arrived at the shore.

Shit! Tuziku thought as he ran toward the forest.

"You guys stay here and contact HQ. Give the Chief our location; he might be able to assist," Mayku ordered.

"I'll go after our fugitive friend," he added, beginning his solo pursuit.
