Chapter 53 - I'm Coming to Bring You Back to the Sakura Empire

Amagi let out a soft sigh as she looked at Akagi, whose excitement was practically spilling over.

There was a hint of helplessness in her expression, though far more understanding than frustration.

"Sigh... I never said I intended to stop you, Akagi."

The moment those words left her lips, Akagi grew even more agitated.

"Sister Amagi! If that's the case, then come with me!" she pleaded eagerly.

"My Lord is surrounded by those Royal Navy maids right now! If we leave him there any longer, they'll spoil the Commander beyond saving before we even get the chance!"

Her voice carried both urgency and genuine distress.

"If we go now, with you leading us, Sister, I'm sure we can rescue the Commander from the Royal Navy's grasp!"

New Jersey, who had been standing nearby, immediately joined in. She had clearly been losing patience for a while now.

"I agree with Miss Akagi. We can't keep letting the Royal Navy monopolize my Honey."

She folded her arms beneath her chest, her confident grin widening.

"And let's not forget why we pushed so hard for this exercise in the first place. Wasn't it so our factions could defeat the Royal Navy and then..."

She paused mid-sentence before quickly correcting herself, her eyes blazing with determination.

"No, not just our factions. This is for everyone at the port! So every faction can enjoy my Honey's nourishment!"

"Exactly! I couldn't agree more, Miss New Jersey!"

The two immediately made for the command room's exit, but just as they were about to step through the doorway, a firm grip suddenly stopped them in their tracks.

"Guh..." Akagi froze.

Slowly, she turned her head, only to find herself staring directly into Amagi's gentle smile.

"Akagi," Amagi said softly, "Have you stopped listening to your sister?"

Her smile remained warm and composed, yet the authority hidden behind it sent a chill straight down Akagi's spine.

"I don't recall raising you to be this reckless."

Under the overwhelming pressure of her older sister's presence, Akagi's fox ears, which had been perked up moments ago, drooped miserably.

She slowly turned back around and lowered her head.

"Sister... I..."

Even New Jersey, standing off to the side, felt an invisible pressure settling over her.

'Tsk... Miss Amagi is terrifying when she's upset. And here I thought she was always gentle...'

Once both Akagi and New Jersey had finally calmed down, Amagi gave a small nod of satisfaction. She then calmly retrieved her communicator from within her sleeve.

With a light tap of her fingertip, she activated the transmission.

"Kaga, how are things on your end? Is everything proceeding according to plan?"

Kaga's composed voice soon answered through the communicator, though the deafening sounds of artillery fire and crashing waves echoed in the background.

"Sister Amagi, just as you predicted, Lion has taken complete control of the Point B sea area on her own."

"At the moment, she's holding her position while waiting for the Royal Navy reinforcements to arrive."

At the report, the corners of Amagi's lips lifted ever so slightly.

'It's begun. The enemy has taken the bait.'

"Very good," Amagi replied calmly. "Continue retreating, but don't lose too quickly. Stall Miss Lion for as long as possible."

"Understood, Sister Amagi."

The communication ended shortly afterward.

After hearing the exchange between Amagi and Kaga, Akagi had completely calmed down. Her golden eyes were now filled with admiration as she looked at her sister.

"As expected of you, Sister Amagi... Everything was already within your calculations."

Remembering how impulsive she had acted moments earlier, Akagi could not help but feel a little ashamed.

Meanwhile, New Jersey looked utterly bewildered.

Her eyes darted between Amagi and Akagi, the confusion on her face so obvious it almost seemed as though a giant question mark were floating above her head.

"Wait, hold on a second! What arrangement? What plan? Why am I the only one completely out of the loop here?"

Amagi merely smiled before turning toward the massive projection map displayed at the center of the command room.

"Miss New Jersey, please come here for a moment."

Still visibly confused, New Jersey walked over. Once she stood beside her, Amagi gracefully gestured toward the holographic display.

"This is the current situation."

With a few smooth motions, the sea map shifted under Amagi's control, revealing the ongoing state of the exercise.

A bright red marker representing Lion stood firmly within the strategically vital area labeled Point B.

"In order to break the stalemate as quickly as possible, Miss Lion chose to make full use of the Royal Navy's greatest advantage."

Amagi lightly tapped the projection.

"She personally led the assault and successfully captured Point B ahead of the others. For the Royal Navy, it was the correct decision both strategically and psychologically."

New Jersey nodded almost immediately.

"Yeah, that definitely sounds like her. If they manage to hold that position until the Royal Navy's main fleet catches up, we could actually lose this operation."

Amagi smiled faintly before marking several nearby sea zones with blue indicators. One by one, the points connected, gradually forming a complete encirclement around Point B.

The moment New Jersey saw the formation, her eyes lit up with realization.

"Ohhh... now I see."

A grin slowly spread across her face.

"What a nasty little trap. As expected of the Sakura Empire's greatest strategist. Lion thought she was charging straight toward victory, but she actually walked right into an encirclement."

New Jersey understood better than most just how powerful Lion was.

But no matter how overwhelming her strength might be, even she couldn't withstand attacks from every direction for long without support.

Seeing that New Jersey had fully grasped the situation, Amagi finally turned toward her.

"So, Miss New Jersey... I'll be relying on your strength next."

New Jersey confidently placed a hand against her chest.

"Leave it to me! Just say the word. Want me to lead a fleet and smash right through her lines?"

Amagi gently shook her head.

"No. That would be wasteful."

Her purple eyes narrowed slightly.

"Besides, the purpose of this exercise was never simply to achieve victory. Our true objective is My Lord."

The moment Jun Hao was mentioned, both Akagi and New Jersey immediately became serious.

Amagi continued calmly, "Miss New Jersey, I need you to head to Point B alone and challenge Miss Lion to a duel."

"A duel?"

New Jersey blinked in surprise, though the excitement on her face quickly overtook it.

"Now that's what I'm talking about! I've wanted a proper one-on-one fight with her for ages."

Amagi nodded lightly.

"Not only that, but you must also present her with a condition."

A faintly playful smile appeared on her lips.

"If you win the duel, the Royal Navy will no longer be allowed to monopolize My Lord. We will demand that he visit each faction's port in rotation according to their wishes. Conveniently enough, this also aligns with My Lord's original intention of gradually meeting everyone."

After hearing the full explanation, New Jersey immediately gave both Amagi and Akagi a confident thumbs-up.

"No problem! For my Honey, and for an exciting battle, I gladly accept this mission!"

A fierce grin spread across her face.

"Black Dragon, preparing to sortie!"

With that declaration, New Jersey summoned her rigging. Mechanical components unfolded around her body as she strode out of the command room, then leapt directly into the sea.

Akagi stepped forward soon after, her tails swaying eagerly behind her.

"Sister Amagi, what about me?"

Amagi calmly gave her next set of instructions.

"Akagi, you and Kaga will maintain the encirclement. Make sure Miss Lion has no choice but to accept Miss New Jersey's challenge."

She paused briefly before continuing, "And keep track of My Lord's movements at all times. Once I've finished making my preparations, I'll join you as well."

As she spoke, Amagi picked up her oil-paper umbrella, looking more like a noblewoman preparing for an elegant outing than someone heading toward a battlefield.

A knowing smile curved across her lips.

"I suspect My Lord will personally come to watch the duel. You understand what to do after that, don't you, Akagi?"

"Oh~ I understand perfectly, Sister."

Akagi's eyes sparkled with excitement as she rubbed her hands together eagerly.

"In that case, I'll be heading out as well~"

A delighted smile slowly formed on her face.

'Commander... I'm coming to bring you back to the Sakura Empire~'
