Chapter 14 - Supervisor

The platform stretched into endless darkness.

No walls.

No ceiling.

No visible edges.

Only a smooth silver floor reflecting faint light beneath their feet.

The Supervisor stood twenty meters away.

Still.

Calm.

Watching.

System flickered.

[Floor Two Hidden Stage Activated]

[Opponent: Supervisor-Class Authority Unit]

[Rule: Demonstrate Worth]

Dante cracked his neck. "I hate these calm ones."

Mira's gravity field pulsed faintly. "It hasn't attacked."

Arav stepped forward slightly. "It doesn't need to rush."

The Supervisor tilted its head.

Then—

It vanished.

Not teleportation.

Acceleration beyond visible tracking.

Arav activated Chrono Mark instantly.

Time slowed.

The Supervisor was already behind Mira.

Hand raised.

A thin silver blade forming from its wrist.

Time resumed.

Arav lunged and slammed into Mira's side, knocking her out of trajectory.

The blade passed inches from her throat and carved a clean line through empty air.

The air itself split.

A distortion line remained floating mid-air for half a second before sealing.

Dante roared and ignited Solar Core Stage Two.

Golden-white flames erupted outward.

He charged directly.

The Supervisor raised its palm.

Dante's flames split around its body without contact.

The Supervisor stepped inside Dante's guard and struck him in the chest.

Not hard.

Precise.

Dante flew backward across the platform, sliding violently.

[HP: 88% → 59%]

Arav moved instantly.

Chrono Mark.

Time slowed.

The Supervisor's body wasn't radiating massive authority.

It was compressing it internally.

Dense core.

Minimal waste.

Highly efficient.

Time resumed.

Arav attacked head-on.

Blade against wrist-blade.

Sparks of silver and gold erupted at impact.

The Supervisor countered each strike without wasted movement.

Arav feinted low, then pivoted high.

The Supervisor predicted it.

Blocked.

Countered.

Kicked him backward.

[HP: 79% → 64%]

Mira forced gravity inward from all sides.

The floor beneath the Supervisor cracked slightly.

For the first time—

The Supervisor's stance adjusted.

But only slightly.

It stepped once to the side.

The gravity pressure dissipated.

It extended its other arm.

Two silver lines shot outward like wires.

They wrapped around Mira's wrists mid-cast.

She was yanked forward violently.

Arav activated Anchor Point on the wires.

Stabilized tension.

He sliced through them before they tightened.

The wires dissolved.

The Supervisor tilted its head slightly again.

Analyzing.

Then—

It moved differently.

No longer testing.

Attacking.

It split into three identical copies.

Each with same presence.

Same aura.

No difference detectable.

Dante cursed. "Not this again."

Arav activated Chrono Mark.

Time slowed.

All three copies moved simultaneously.

Not illusions.

Not projections.

Each casting shadow.

All real.

Multi-body authority.

Time resumed.

The first copy attacked Arav.

The second engaged Dante.

The third targeted Mira.

Arav's opponent attacked with dual wrist-blades now.

Fast.

Precise.

Arav blocked two strikes, ducked a third, countered with a thrust.

The blade pierced through—

But the body dissolved.

Reformed behind him.

The Supervisor copy kicked him mid-back.

[HP: 64% → 47%]

Dante roared and unleashed continuous Solar blasts in wide arcs.

The Supervisor copy he fought absorbed two blasts, redirected the third back toward him.

Dante barely blocked in time.

Mira increased gravity to maximum on her copy.

The Supervisor's knees bent slightly.

Then it slammed both palms into the ground.

A shockwave of compressed force blasted outward.

Mira was thrown backward.

System flicker.

[Supervisor Adaptive Response Increasing]

Arav clenched his jaw.

He activated Time Anchor Lock.

Time froze.

All three Supervisors frozen mid-motion.

He moved between them.

Examined each core.

Unlike previous enemies—

Their cores weren't visible externally.

He saw faint pulsing at neck base.

Shared signal link.

He attacked one copy's neck seam.

Cracked it slightly.

Time resumed.

The attacked copy staggered slightly.

The other two copies flickered momentarily.

Link confirmed.

He shouted, "Neck base!"

Dante switched immediately.

He compressed flame into piercing lances and targeted the neck area.

Mira forced gravity upward at cervical alignment.

One copy's neck cracked audibly.

It dissolved instantly.

Remaining two merged into one body.

Supervisor reformed fully.

It looked at Arav directly now.

No tilt.

No calm curiosity.

Focused.

It raised both hands.

The platform beneath them shifted.

Gravity inverted.

They were thrown upward into open darkness.

The floor vanished entirely.

Free fall.

Mira stabilized descent with gravity control.

Dante ignited flame jets.

Arav activated Anchor Point in mid-air to create temporary footing.

The Supervisor stood on invisible surface in the air.

Unaffected.

It launched downward toward Arav.

Blade extended.

Arav activated Chrono Mark.

Time slowed.

He saw something new.

A faint fracture along Supervisor's chest.

Tiny.

From earlier clashes.

Time resumed.

He baited it.

Allowed the blade to graze his side.

Pain flared.

[HP: 47% → 34%]

He grabbed the Supervisor's arm.

Dante struck from left with golden flame arc.

Mira compressed gravity from right.

Arav drove his blade directly into the chest fracture.

The Supervisor reacted instantly.

It twisted mid-air and slammed Arav into nothingness.

He fell downward into darkness.

No floor.

No platform.

Just void.

System warning flashed.

[Spatial Boundary Breach]

He activated Chrono Mark again mid-fall.

Time slowed.

The darkness wasn't empty.

It was layered space.

Thin membranes between levels.

He spotted a stable layer slightly above.

He kicked off an invisible surface using Anchor Point.

Redirected upward.

Time resumed.

He re-entered the battlefield zone from below.

The Supervisor was mid-clash with Dante and Mira.

Dante was breathing heavily, flames flickering unstable.

Mira bleeding from forehead.

The Supervisor caught Dante's punch mid-motion and twisted his arm violently.

A sharp crack.

Dante roared in pain.

[HP: 59% → 38%]

Arav didn't hesitate.

He activated Time Anchor Lock again despite cost.

Time froze.

HP draining.

He sprinted toward the Supervisor.

He grabbed its head with both hands.

Forced authority surge into chest fracture.

Crack widened.

Time resumed.

The Supervisor roared for the first time.

Not loud.

But sharp.

It kicked Arav away and leapt backward.

Its chest glowed brighter.

A new weapon formed.

A long silver spear condensed in its hands.

Denser than previous blades.

It threw the spear instantly.

Arav activated Chrono Mark.

Time slowed.

The spear curved mid-flight.

Tracking.

He pivoted.

The spear adjusted.

Impossible to dodge normally.

He used Anchor Point on the spear's trajectory point.

Stabilized it momentarily.

Then stepped aside.

Time resumed.

The spear missed his heart by centimeters and stabbed into invisible floor layer.

It detonated.

Shockwave threw all three backward.

Platform reformed beneath them.

The Supervisor stood at center again.

Its chest fracture glowing faintly gold now.

Corrupted by Arav's authority.

It looked at him directly.

"Integration exceeds acceptable variance."

Arav stepped forward again.

Blood running from his side.

"Good."

The Supervisor blurred forward again.

Close-range combat resumed.

Faster now.

No hesitation.

No testing.

Arav blocked two strikes.

Third cut through his thigh.

[HP: 34% → 21%]

He countered with elbow strike to neck.

Mira increased gravity at exact impact moment.

The Supervisor staggered slightly.

Dante roared and ignited full Solar Stage Two output.

His flames flared larger than before.

Not unstable.

Controlled.

He drove a flaming punch directly into the Supervisor's chest fracture.

The fracture widened dramatically.

The Supervisor grabbed Dante by the throat.

Lifted him.

Crushed.

Arav activated Chrono Mark one final time.

Time slowed heavily.

He saw it clearly now.

The Supervisor's true core wasn't in chest.

It was shifting between chest and spine.

Rotating location to avoid destruction.

He moved behind it during dilation.

He placed his blade at the exact moment core transitioned toward spine.

Time resumed.

He drove the blade through the back.

Straight through the moving core.

Golden energy erupted violently.

The Supervisor convulsed.

Dante dropped free.

Mira compressed gravity at maximum.

The core shattered explosively.

The Supervisor screamed once—

Then fragmented into silver dust.

Silence.

System update.

[Supervisor-Class Unit Eliminated]

[Floor Two Fully Cleared]

The darkness faded.

The platform stabilized.

A new staircase formed upward.

Wider than before.

Brighter.

Arav staggered slightly.

HP critically low.

[HP: 12%]

Dante breathed heavily but stood upright.

Solar Stage Two aura still flickering faintly.

Mira steadied herself.

Before they could move—

The air above the staircase shimmered.

A voice echoed across the platform.

Not from enemy.

Not from system.

Calm.

Layered.

Watching.

"You exceed projected growth curves."

The darkness above the staircase peeled away slightly.

A faint outline visible behind it.

Massive.

But not hostile.

Not attacking.

Observing.

System flickered violently.

[Higher Authority Presence Detected]

The voice spoke again.

"Ascend."

The staircase extended further upward into blinding light.

But the platform beneath them cracked slightly.

A timer appeared in system.

[Deviation: 48.2%]

Climbing faster now.

The Tower was no longer testing small variables.

It was accelerating progression.

Arav stepped toward the staircase.

But as he placed his foot on the first step—

The entire structure trembled violently.

The light above flickered.

The voice shifted slightly.

"Adjustment required."

The staircase split into two separate paths.

One glowing gold.

One glowing silver.

System updated.

[Choice Required]

No explanation.

No hint.

Just two paths.

And behind them—

The platform began dissolving.

Slowly.

No retreat.

Only decision.

Arav looked at Dante.

At Mira.

Then at the two staircases.

Golden path pulsed with familiar Guardian-like energy.

Silver path radiated cold correction authority.

Both viable.

Both dangerous.

The platform beneath their feet cracked further.

Five seconds before collapse.

Arav stepped forward—

But not yet choosing.

The light above intensified.

And something moved beyond it.

Watching which path he would take.
