Chapter 197 - Chapter 197

The dizziness of spatial translocation had just faded when the four gods had already set foot on strange land.

The air was filled with an aura of divine power, similar yet slightly different from the world of Chaos. The sky seemed clearer, but there was also a faint sense of oppression, as if a storm was approaching.

This was the 'original' Greek world.

Hecate took a deep breath, feeling the free air she hadn't experienced in a long time, with an almost intoxicated expression on her face.

But this intoxication lasted only a moment. Her eyes, shimmering with violet light, slowly glided over the 'companions' beside her, and a cold, cunning smile appeared at the corners of her mouth.

Holding a grudge was one of the virtues of the goddess of magic.

She hadn't forgotten how she had ended up in this situation before:

Hermes, the thief with dirty hands!

He had quietly taken a bottle of her carefully prepared 'sneezing potion' and then somehow mixed it into Zeus's divine wine, causing the entire Olympian palace to sneeze at an important banquet, with the gods in tears and losing face.

Although Zeus hadn't found conclusive evidence, his suspicious gaze and the subsequent increase in 'security checks' annoyed her.

Thalia, that seemingly carefree goddess!

She swore she only borrowed her artifact 'Gaia's Foundation' to participate in an important theatrical performance, but what was the result?

Turning around and 'accidentally' opening her mouth before Hades directly doubled her workload and cut into her research time!

Eros! The culprit of all culprits!

If this little brat hadn't shot her with that damned arrow of Eros, how could she have transferred that troublesome divine power of Eros to Metis?

How could that have triggered a chain reaction, ultimately leading to Hades punishing her for 'looking upset' and nearly driving her mad?!

Old and new hatreds flared up in her heart. Hecate looked at these three 'accomplices', who in a sense were the cause of her tragic situation, and decided to 'repay' their 'friendship'.

The mission, of course, had to be completed.

But while completing the mission, a little 'interest' wasn't too much to ask, was it?

Her first target was the most easily lured one.

The messenger god was curiously surveying his surroundings with his signature smile on his face.

Hecate quietly approached a relatively flat stone and skillfully took out several crystal bottles, a small portable silver crucible, and some magically shimmering materials from her bottomless magical bag.

She began to 'focus' on concocting a potion.

She deliberately made the potion-making process especially mysterious and eye-catching, with the mist evaporating from the crucible forming various strange shapes.

And indeed, Hermes's attention was quickly drawn.

He took a few steps forward, his emerald-green eyes shining with curiosity and professional appraisal: "Hey, Hecate, you just landed and you're already working? What's this good stuff?"

He had a natural inclination for collecting and a desire to 'borrow' all kinds of strange creations and potions.

Hecate didn't look up and said in a slightly ostentatious tone: "It's nothing, just a little gadget. It can achieve a perfect 'invisibility' effect. Even the perception of a God-King would find it hard to detect."

She deliberately emphasized 'perfect' and 'undetectable even by a God-King'.

"Invisibility?" Hermes's eyes instantly lit up like two emeralds!

For a god like him, who often had to sneak around and occasionally 'borrow' things, a perfect invisibility potion was simply a treasured artifact!

Sometimes it was even more practical than his speed!

His heart itched like a cat's claws.

Watching the bottle of potion in Hecate's hand gradually take on a smooth silver luster and emit an alluring fluctuation, his instinct to 'itch when seeing something good' completely overwhelmed his reason.

The moment Hecate finished speaking, almost before the last syllable of her word had stopped vibrating in the air, a hand, so fast it left only afterimages, shot out like lightning!

Whoosh!

The bottle of 'perfect invisibility potion', freshly brewed and still retaining residual warmth, vanished from Hecate's hand and appeared in Hermes's.

"Thanks, Hecate! I'll use it for research! I'll return it to you!"

Hermes's voice came with a gust of wind, and he himself transformed into a blurred streamer, and with his divine speed, instantly disappeared into the mountains and forests in the distance, leaving only a faint, smug chuckle echoing in the air.

He didn't even have time to carefully check the quality of the potion, afraid that if he slowed down, Hecate would chase him.

Hecate maintained her outstretched hand, frozen in place, the expression of 'astonishment' and 'anger' on her face perfectly vivid.

She even 'angrily' stamped her foot in the direction Hermes had disappeared, cursing: "You damned thief!"

However, the moment the streamer completely vanished at the end of her sight, all the 'anger' and 'astonishment' on Hecate's face receded like a tide, replaced by the smugness of a great revenge accomplished.

She gently patted the non-existent dust off her hands, as if it had just been an insignificant bottle of water that was stolen.

"Fool," she chuckled softly, her eyes full of the pleasure of a successful calculation.

"That wasn't an invisibility potion..."

She looked in the direction Hermes had disappeared, as if she could already see the 'grand scene' that was about to unfold.

She took her time straightening her magical robe and began to slowly pack up her alchemical tools.

"The effect..." The corner of Hecate's mouth curled wickedly.

"It'll probably... make the drinker or anyone contaminated emit an uncontrollable, blazing light from the inside out, like the midday sun, for at least three days and nights... Pure, pure light, light and light."

Imagine, a messenger god known for his speed and stealth, turning into a humanoid, self-propelled light bulb, shining brightly wherever he goes, revealing every detail. Forget about invisibility—he'd probably be clearly visible from several mountains away.

This was a true nightmare for Hermes, who needed stealth and secrecy!

"I hope you enjoy this 'congratulatory gift', my dear Mr. Messenger," Hecate happily whispered, feeling that even the strange air of the other world had become fresh and sweet.

The pleasure of revenge was the best medicine for healing work-related injuries. And this was just the beginning.

Thalia and Eros... the 'surprises' she had carefully prepared were still waiting behind.

Her little book was never just for show.
