Shane used his chopsticks to put some food on Olivia's plate as she struggled with her own chopsticks, then tasted some himself.
"Typical American Chinese food. I thought you werewolves would bring some special flair to opening a Chinese restaurant." Shaking his head in disappointment, Shane put down his chopsticks and looked at the injured grey wolf, his eyes lighting up slightly.
The grey wolf had already shifted back into human form, clutching his bleeding neck and twitching faintly.
Here was the key point.
When this guy turned into a wolf, his clothes didn't fall off; they vanished. In wolf form, he was completely naked.
But when he shifted back to human form, the clothes reappeared, perfectly intact on his body.
That was magical. A bit like the Transformation Jutsu in Naruto, which could transform external objects along with the user.
Learned something new. For this alone, today wasn't a wasted trip!
"Aren't you going to save him?"
The other werewolves had all gone to chase Theo. Only Luke and the old cook remained in the restaurant, but they seemed to have no intention of treating the wounded werewolf.
Luke looked at the injured pack member, his eyes filled with grief. "We can't save him. After being bitten by an Alpha, only a Warlock can heal the wound. He was bitten in the neck; there's no time to find a Warlock now."
Shane remembered. In the TV show, Luke had been bitten by an Alpha too, and was eventually healed by the Warlock Magnus Bane. The Alpha who bit him was Theo, and Luke later killed Theo to become the new Alpha.
So I basically helped Luke dodge a bullet ahead of time, right?
Yeah, you're welcome!
"He can only wait for death. There's zero chance, right?" Shane confirmed with Luke again, then stood up and walked over to the injured werewolf. "If I knew Medical Ninjutsu, maybe I could save you. Unfortunately, I don't know any right now. If you don't mind, could you make one last contribution to the wolf pack?"
The werewolf was heavily injured in the neck and couldn't speak. He could only nod slightly with great effort, staring straight at Shane.
"I know a type of Sealing Ninjutsu. I don't know if it will work, but if it does, it can seal a werewolf's power and, to some extent, turn a werewolf back into a human."
Shane explained clearly to the werewolf while beginning the preparations for the Evil Sealing Method.
"Help me out. Take off his shirt." Shane instructed Luke while he started setting up the seal array around the werewolf.
"What are you doing?"
"I explained it clearly just now. As for the specifics, we'll talk after it succeeds. If it fails, there's no point talking about it."
"Need me to do anything?" Olivia asked.
"Hurry up and eat."
"..."
The Evil Sealing Method was a troublesome jutsu. You had to draw symbols—or rather, seal marks—around the target first. Not a single one could be wrong. At the same time, the target had to be shirtless because some symbols had to be drawn directly on the body.
What to draw with?
Blood, obviously!
"The process will be very painful. You'd better hold on, or my blood will have been shed for nothing. This is the first time I've bled since coming to this world." Shane helped the werewolf sit up straight and warned solemnly, "In your current state, you might not survive until the seal is complete. If you feel it working during the process, remember to blink three times in a row before you die."
"Watch his eyes closely," Shane instructed Luke again.
Honestly, Luke didn't understand what Shane was doing, nor did he believe it would succeed. But he hoped Shane would succeed!
Shane stood behind the werewolf and took a deep breath, recalling the Evil Sealing Method. He clasped his hands and began forming seals rapidly.
In this moment, Shane wished he could just clap his hands and make whatever he wanted happen. Hand seals were cool and very Naruto-style, but they were also genuinely tiring.
If the system hadn't directly helped him learn the jutsu, just practicing the hand seals wouldn't be easy. It was very easy for the brain to lag behind the hands, or the hands to lag behind the brain.
"Evil Sealing Method!"
Finishing the last seal, Shane placed his hand on the werewolf's shoulder.
Light suddenly flared, flashing brightly.
The werewolf's pained howls erupted instantly. The symbols on the ground seemed to come alive, slithering and moving. They rushed up the werewolf's body toward Shane's palm, drilling into the shoulder beneath his hand.
Three comma-shaped marks appeared on the werewolf's shoulder. The screaming werewolf's body trembled violently. Using the very last of his strength, he blinked rapidly three times at Luke.
The howling stopped abruptly.
The werewolf's expression froze, his eyes glazed over, and he slumped to the ground with a thud.
Dead.
A trace of sorrow and gratitude flashed in Luke's eyes. Then he looked up at Shane. "He blinked. Three times... You... your eyes!?"
Shane's eyes were pure white, with veins bulging around them.
This sight scared Luke, and it scared Olivia too.
"Are you okay? What happened to your eyes?" Olivia sprang up, instantly appearing at Shane's side.
"Don't worry, this is my ability." Shane patted Olivia reassuringly.
The Evil Sealing Method's function was sealing, not removal. Shane activated the Byakugan to clearly see the flow of power inside the werewolf, to understand the werewolf bloodline and judge if the seal was successful.
The result... was a mixed bag.
From the perspective of the Evil Sealing Method itself, the ninjutsu was successful. The external power was indeed sealed.
But from the perspective of validating his theory—turning a werewolf back into a human—it seemed to be a failure.
Because the power that got sealed wasn't the werewolf bloodline... it was the freaking Alpha's venom!
