Synopsis
Jake’s idea of a vacation was never becoming the “leader” of a team that doesn’t listen to him—let alone having a girlfriend with a literal goddess living inside her. Yeah… that’s way too much work. So how do you fix a problem like that? Simple. It’s time to take a real vacation!

Chapter 1 - A Vacation.

POV: ???

Just another ordinary day around here…

Well, as ordinary as things can be in an institution like ours.

All things considered, though, we're moving in the right direction.

Of course, we have our… complications. But with time and understanding, I truly believe we can build a better future—for ourselves, and for everyone else.

Knock, knock.

"Come in, it's open."

A moment later, I recognize who it is.

Scott.

A good young man. A natural leader. He has his struggles, like all the others, but I have faith that with the right guidance, he'll reach his full potential.

And… if I may allow myself a small moment of selfishness, he has always been one of my favorites—if I'm even permitted to admit such a thing.

"Professor."

"My boy, I've told you before, there's no need to be so formal. Please, have a seat. What can I do for you?"

Scott sits across from me. Even though I cannot see his eyes, I can tell—without a doubt—that he's about to say something important.

Of course, with Scott, that could mean anything. He's disciplined, stubborn, and rarely accepts criticism easily. A trait that can be both a strength and a weakness in the long run.

"Before anything else, I need to ask you not to read my mind. After certain… recent events, I'd rather keep my thoughts to myself for a while. Please, don't take offense."

That… is unusual. He's never asked that before. Still, I'm sure he has his reasons.

"No offense taken. Go on—what brings you here?"

Scott takes a deep breath, bracing himself… as though he's about to confess something truly significant.

Perhaps something that might even require the X-Men's involvement. But that's what family is for.

"I want a vacation."

"…I beg your pardon?"
