In a world much like ours, where shadows lingered longer than the light, vampires walked unseen among men, and fate had singled out a boy who would bear a destiny no heart could imagine.
Fate chose a boy among mortals, a boy unlike any other, one who would bear a destiny no heart could have asked for and yet would accept.
He was Lucien.
He walked into the hall of kings, where stone pillars had witnessed countless crowns claimed and lost, and silence ruled over all.
Those who dwelled within bent their heads, for they knew he who stepped forward had suffered what others could not endure. He had dreamed once of laughter and love, of a life free from the chains of destiny. Yet fate had other plans, and he bore them all.
A flicker of pain crossed his eyes, brief as a passing shadow, the echo of a life that might have been. Still, he moved, steady, unwavering, until the throne waited no longer. He sat. The boy who sought joy, who never asked for power, was gone. In his place, the honored king claimed his seat, forged by loss, tempered by suffering, immortal in his resolve.
And he had no choice, and yet he accepted it. He was the one who once dreamed of laughter and love, who never sought power, and yet now he sat before them all. Fate had other designs, and he bore them fully, claiming the throne as the honored king.
