Chapter 7 - BETRAYAL AND SHIT-TALK

VIVIENNE's POV

My eyes stung with tears as I stared at her with shock, confusion, annoyance.

It wasn't what it looked like?

She was out in the shed, naked as shit, a dildo buried in her pussy while she moaned my husband's name and said shit about me.

I had almost had an heart attack thinking my husband was cheating on me with her. That he had come unto her and maybe forced her into doing whatever it was with him.

Instead, she was the one that wanted him.

She was masturbating to the thoughts of wanting my husband and shit talking me, the woman she claimed to be her bestfriend.

My body trembled and I stared at her with pure, unfiltered hate.

I couldn't believe that the person I had been relying on would go this far.

This was the biggest blow I had ever received.

My heart shattered into a million pieces and tears slid down my cheek once more.

Why was it so hard to find a friend who actually loved me as a friend?

The last one was writhing under the three men she knew I had a crush on.

She would be the one pushing me to do things for them while sleeping with them at my back.

And just when I thought I was over that and found the best one, she secretely harbored hatred for me and love for my husband.

I stepped back slightly, my legs trembling.

''Vivienne please.'' She muttered, scurrying for the sheets and heading to me. ''You didn't hear everything. Did you?'' She asked, her lips quivering.

My hand tightened into first as I stared at her with enough anger that I could muster. Because my best friend wasn't concerned about what she had spoken of me. Instead, she was more concerned about wether I had heard it.

''You're such a bitch!'' I cursed, shocked at my own words but I was surely more pissed about our bond ending that when I was asked for an open marriage.

''You don't understand, Vivienne. I've always loved him. Long before you even did.'' She muttered, her eyes bloodshot.

My hand tightened around the edge of my dress, my jaws ticking as I stared at her. So all this time she'd been telling about her crush and never mentioning his name no matter how much I had probed, it was actually because it was my husband.

''I don't care, Fiona! He's married! To your best friend!'' I screamed at her, hoping she'd understand that she was committing a big crime.

''He is married to me! And you have no right to moan for him and no freaking right to speak ill of me! You're lucky you were my best friend. Because if you weren't, I would make sure you rot in the underground prison till the only thing left of you is dust!'' I added, my eyes blazing fire as I stared at her.

I wiped the tears off my eyes and stepped away just before she could reach for me.

I spat, throwing her a disgusted look before running out of the shed and heading for the main pack house.

Immediately i stepped in, I bumped into Maddox. ''Viv?''

I didn't answer.

I brushed past him and stormed to my room, closing the door behind me.

Immediately my butt touched the bed, I let it all out.

The tears finally fell, the sound of my cries reverbarating around the room.

The room door slammed open and Roman stepped in, his face twisting as it fell on me.

Without wasting anytime, I rushed to him and hugged him, crying harder.

''Hey..Vivi, is something wrong? Did someone hurt you?'' He asked, his voice filled with fear.

I didn't answer. Just buried my face into his chest and cried even harder.

How was I supposed to tell him that I suspected that he was cheating on me, upholding his 'I want an open marriage' talk and fucking my best friend?

How was I supposed to tell him that If I hadn't taken the leap to open that door, I would have severed all ties with him and ran out of the pack?

How was I supposed to tell him that my very own best friend, the woman I trust and had begged him to hire as a staff in his office never truly liked me and might've only gotten close to me because she harbored feelings for him long before I even came into the picture?

I couldn't.

He would make sure she spends the rest of her life in jail just for shit talking me. Not to talk of the fact that she had been using his name to relieve herself.

He pulled me away gently, his face soft as he wiped a teardrop off my cheek with the back of his hand. ''Tell me who made you cry and I would make sure they rot in jail for the rest of their lives.''

I shook my head. ''No one.'' I said, my voice shaky while my body still trembled from all the crying.

He kissed my forehead then helped my back to the bed before crouching down to my level. ''I'm thinking of signing a peace treaty with the silver wolf pack.''

My eyes widened. ''A—Are you sure? Did they agree to it?''

''Won't know till I go there.'' He murmured, corking me a small smile.

My face fell. ''Go there?''

''Yes baby.'' He muttered, kissing my forehead again. ''I'll be heading to the Silver wolf pack to try and propose a peace treaty. Once that works, we'll find a way to bring them to our side. With the help of their soldiers, we just might be able to fight off the beasts and minimize our losses.''

''And what if it doesn't work?'' I asked, my heart drumming wildly against my chest.

If whatever Roman was planning didn't work, they could ambush him easily.

The Silver wolf pack where known for their strong armies and tyrant leader. He wasn't one to be reasoned with and Roman was taken a great risk by entering into their territory.

''It would work.'' Roman responded.

He was so stubborn.

''But just so my wife doesn't become a panicking mess, I'll be taking as many soldiers as I can.'' He teased, kissing my lips.

I chuckled into the kiss, wrapping my hand around his neck and pulling him closer.

We kissed for a while, our lips entangling with lots of unspoken words unraveling.

Roman broke the kiss and stared deep into my eyes. ''I'll be leaving now.''

''What?!'' I jumped off the bed. ''What do you mean by that? I thought you'd need a few days to prepare?'' I said quickly, holding my breath.

I had barely been able to hold him close this past few days. How was I supposed to survive without seeing him for a week?

Roman didn't respond to me. Instead, he hooked his hand around my waist and pulled me closer to him.

''Mate.'' He growled, sealing our lips together.

The kiss was slow at first, filled with unspoken desires and heated promises. Then it became fast, needy, desperate.

I hooked my hand around his hair and pulled him closer, suckling on his lips till I was out of breath and grasping for air.

I pulled back, my breath coming in ragged gasps.

''I'll see you to the boarders.'' I murmured, trying to hold back tears.

He nodded, interlocking our hands together and taking me to the meeting room.

The whole pack members where gathered, waiting to hear what the Alpha had to say.

We walked up the podium and sat at the right side of Roman, the Luna's seat. While Maddox, Cassian and Rhys stood to the corner just beside Roman's chair.

Roman stood up and walked forward, ready to address the people.

''Thank you for honoring my request, people of Crescent moon pack. I am excited to tell you that all your worries would soon be over. Because I, Alpha Roman, Alpha of the Crescent mood pack made an oath to protect my pack and I would be taking that leap today.''

I held my breath, my hand tightening around the edge of my chair.

''I'll be heading over to Silver wolf pack, sign a peace treaty with them and get them to help out with the attacks. Crescent moon pack would go back to the way it was!''

Cheers filled the arena as people screamed and shouted for Roman.

''We leave now! During my abscene, my brothers would be in control and represent the pack as the acting Alphas of Crescent moon pack.'' Roman uttered, smiling as he stared at his brother.

My eyes snapped to them and my grip on the chair tightened.

''I have eyes everywhere. So whoever dares to disrespect my Luna while I'm gone would be dragged to the underground prison when I'm back.''

The room instantly fell silent.

Roman began to laugh and the entire room began to laugh too.

''You're dismissed.'' Roman muttered after his speech.

The people began to disperse, leaving only the Thornes and the armies going along with Roman.

I stood up from my seat and rushed to him, pressing my body to him. ''I'll miss you.'' I whispered into his ear. ''Try not to get killed and be back really early.'' I added, but this time, there was a certain threat to my voice.

Roman shook dramatically as if he was shivering at my words. He kissed me on the lip and cheek before heading outside while we all followed behind him.

We walked to the boarders and bid them goodbye before the boarders got closed again.

A sudden kind of sadness washed over me at Roman's absence.

''Let's head back.'' Maddox voice resonated behind me.

I turned back to find all three of standing behind me, their eyes laced on me.

I hadn't even realized that they were following us to the boarders nor heard their footsteps.

I nodded and followed behind them till we got to the main park area.

Before I could step into the hallways, a loud shriek pierced through the air.

''Alpha!''

My heart skipped a bit and I turned back, expecting to see Roman. Instead, I saw one of the lab workers running to us with a large folder in his hand and his eyes laced on the triplets.

He finally stopped in front of us, his breathing ragged ''Alphas!'' He called out, panting heavily while gripping his thighs.

''Is something wrong?'' Maddox asked, his face unreadable.

''Yes! No! We—We've found the nature of the beast''
