Chapter 92 - Chapter 91 periods are over

[Jay's POV]

The biological fog has finally lifted.

I woke up this morning and the first thing I did was a mental "System Check." Abdominal pain? 0%. Emotional volatility? Stabilized. Energy levels? Surging. For the first time in four days, my brain felt like a high-speed processor again, rather than a damp sponge soaked in emotions.

I slipped out of bed before Keifer could even stir, feeling light and refreshed. I walked over to the full-length mirror and smiled. The "Glow" was back, but it wasn't the soft, weary glow of recovery; it was the sharp, radiant brilliance of the Empress returned to full power.

I decided to celebrate the end of the "Period Protocol" by dressing the part. I chose a sleek, charcoal-grey tailored dress—something sharp and professional that fit me perfectly—paired with my favorite silver Watson necklace. No more oversized sweaters. No more messy buns.

As I was finishing my eyeliner, I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around my waist. Keifer leaned down, burying his face in my hair, his skin warm and familiar against mine.

"System's back online?" he murmured, his voice husky with sleep.

"100%," I replied, turning in his arms. I reached up, straightening the collar of his silk pajamas. "The maintenance phase is officially over, CEO. You can stop treating me like I'm made of glass now."

"I liked the maintenance phase," he teased, his eyes dark as they scanned my face. "But I like this version of you even better. You look... lethal."

"Good," I smirked. "Because I have a lot of data to catch up on. And I think Bridget needs a reminder of what the house looks like when I'm at full capacity."

The Grand Re-Entry

We walked down to breakfast together, and the change in atmosphere was instantaneous.

Mamma Serina looked up from her tea and beamed. "Jay! Look at you! You look absolutely radiant this morning. I take it you're feeling much better?"

"Perfectly, Mamma," I said, taking my seat with a newfound grace. "Thank you for taking such good care of me."

Keigan and Keiran cheered, though Keigan paused to look at my sharp outfit. "Uh oh. The Empress is back in 'Boss Mode.' Does this mean I have to stop bringing you snacks every hour?"

"It means you have to work twice as hard in the lab today, Keigan," I teased.

Then, there was Bridget.

She was already at the table, looking tired and frustrated—likely from a night of trying to study the complex financial models Keifer had refused to help her with. When she saw me walk in—not in a slumped, pained state, but looking sharp, beautiful, and completely in control—her jaw literally dropped.

The jealousy in her eyes didn't just return; it intensified into a sharp, bitter realization. For the last few days, she had convinced herself that my "weakness" was her opportunity. She thought my "mood swings" would drive Keifer away.

Instead, she saw Keifer pull out my chair for me, lean in to whisper something that made me blush, and then look at me with more pride than he had ever shown for a billion-dollar merger.

"You're... going to the university today?" Bridget asked, her voice cracking slightly.

"I am," I said, meeting her gaze with a cool, steady confidence. "Keifer and I have a research presentation to finalize. And since I'm at 100% efficiency again, I expect we'll finish ahead of schedule."

Bridget looked down at her plate, her knuckles white. She was staying for two years, but she was starting to realize that no matter how long she stayed, she would always be the "Background Noise" while I was the "Main Signal."
