Chapter 177 - Chapter 176

[Jay's POV]

The door opened wider, and Pappa Keizer stepped in. He looked like he had aged ten years in a single night. The man who stood as the immovable mountain of the Watson Empire looked fragile, his usual commanding aura replaced by a heavy, somber stillness. Behind him, Keigan followed, his eyes fixed on the floor, his hands shoved deep into his pockets to hide how much they were shaking.

The moment Pappa's eyes met mine, the dam broke all over again.

"Pappa..." I sobbed, my voice echoing the hollow ache in my chest.

I reached out toward him, and Pappa Keizer didn't hesitate. He strode to the bed and gathered me into a hug that felt like a fortress. He didn't say "don't cry" or "it's okay," because he knew the data didn't support that. He just held me while I cried into his chest, my tears soaking the lapel of his expensive wool coat.

"I'm sorry, Pappa," I choked out between gasps. "The legacy... I couldn't... the heir..."

[Author's POV]

Pappa Keizer pulled back just enough to look Jay in the eyes, his large hands framing her face. "Jay, listen to me. You are the legacy. You are the heart of this family. A building can be rebuilt, an empire can be restored, but there is only one Jay." His voice, usually a booming bass, was a tender whisper. "The boy is gone, and our hearts are heavy, but don't you dare apologize for surviving. You are the greatest gift this family has."

Keigan stepped forward then, leaning against the side of the bed. He wasn't the "Tech Genius" in this moment; he was just a brother watching his sister-in-law bleed out emotionally. He reached out and gently squeezed Jay's hand, his fingers cool and steady.

"Jay," Keigan said, his voice thick with a rare, raw emotion. "I've been running the simulations... I've been looking at the 'why' of it all. But there is no logic here. It's just a terrible, random glitch." He looked at her with a fierce intensity. "But the system isn't broken. We're all still here. Keifer, Mamma, Pappa, Keiran, and me. We are the backup servers for your heart, Jay. We're not letting you crash."

[Keifer's POV]

I stood at the foot of the bed, watching my father and brother surround Jay. For the first time since the fall, I felt a microscopic shift in the air. The "Silence" was still there, but it was being crowded out by the sheer volume of the Watson family's devotion.

I saw Keigan lean in and whisper something to Jay that made her let out a tiny, shuddering breath—not quite a laugh, but a sign of life.

"100%," I murmured, my eyes locking with Pappa Keizer's. My father gave me a sharp, knowing nod. We were men of industry, men who usually solved problems with contracts and capital, but here, we were just men protecting our own.

Pappa Keizer turned back to Jay, wiping a tear from her cheek with his thumb. "We've moved the 'Powerhouse' back to the estate, Jay. He's in the private chapel. He's resting under the white lilies. Whenever you are ready to come home, we will be there with you."

Jay nodded, her head resting against Pappa's shoulder. The weight of the loss was still crushing, but for the first time, she wasn't carrying it alone.
