Chapter 220 - Chapter 219 the university squad

The University Siege: A 1,000% Chaos Protocol

[Author's POV]

The Watson estate was built to withstand corporate espionage, kidnappings, and global financial collapses. It was not, however, built to withstand the arrival of the "Original Squad."

The security gates didn't just open; they practically threw themselves aside as a fleet of sports cars and SUVs barreled up the driveway. Before the engines had even cooled, the air was punctured by the sound of air horns, whistles, and the kind of high-octane screaming that only university best friends can produce.

[Jay's POV]

I stood in the foyer, my hand gripping Keifer's arm as the front doors were practically kicked open.

"THE EMPRESS IS EXPECTING!" a voice boomed.

In a blur of motion, the hallway was flooded. Felix was leading the charge, but behind him came the heavy hitters of our university days. David and Calix were carrying a massive banner that said "CONGRATS ON REBOOTING THE HEIR," while Cin, Erdix, and Rory were already raiding the hallway bar cart. Mayo and Kit were trying to high-five the stoic security guards, who looked like they wanted to quit.

And then, the girls. Mica, Ella, Freya, and Rakki bypassed everyone, screaming as they descended upon me like a stylish whirlwind.

"JAY! Look at you!" Mica shrieked, pulling me into a hug that smelled like expensive perfume and chaos. "We heard the news! The Powerhouse is expanding!"

"Forget the news," Ella teased, winking at Keifer. "We heard about the 7-day amnesia. Keifer, darling, did you really forget this face? I would have slapped the 'Data' back into you myself!"

The Great Living Room Roast

Within ten minutes, the grand living room was a disaster zone. Pappa Keizer was sitting in his armchair, looking surprisingly amused as Cin tried to explain a new crypto-scheme to him. Mamma Serina was in the corner with Freya and Rakki, already looking at baby clothes on a tablet.

Keifer sat on the sofa, and true to his "Post-Amnesia" settings, I was tucked firmly into his side.

"Look at them," Calix shouted, pointing a finger at us. "Look at the 'Ice King'! He's literally glued to her. Keifer, you used to lecture us on 'Professional Distance' in the library. Now you're 1,000% clingy!"

"It's not clingy," Erdix chimed in, leaning against the mantle. "It's 'System Attachment.' He's afraid if he lets go, she'll turn back into an 'Assistant' and start charging him by the hour again."

The room erupted. Keigan and Keiran joined in from the doorway, leaning against the frame with Bridget.

"Oh, you have no idea," Keigan said, his voice dripping with mock-seriousness. "Yesterday, he wouldn't let her go to the kitchen without a three-man escort. He's obsessed."

"And the moaning!" Bridget added with a wicked grin, looking at the squad. "I had to buy noise-canceling headphones for my night shift. The 'Data Sync' in the Master Suite is... high-volume."

[Jay's POV: Total System Overload]

My face was so hot I was surprised the smoke detectors hadn't gone off. "Bridget! Not in front of the squad!"

"Why not?" Rory laughed, tossing a grape at Keifer. "We've seen Keifer drunk on cheap tequila in the dorms, Jay. Nothing can be more embarrassing than him trying to sing 'My Way' at 3:00 AM."

"Actually," Pappa Keizer interjected, his voice deep and calm, silencing the room for a split second. "The volume level is a bit high for a residential zone, Son. Perhaps you should check the insulation in the wing?"

"PAPPA!" I wailed, hiding my face in Keifer's chest.

Keifer just tightened his grip on me, looking at the 15 people currently roasting his life with a defiant, alpha-level smirk. "The insulation is fine, Pappa. The passion is just 1,000% uncontainable. If the squad can't handle the frequency, the exit is that way."

"OHHH!" Kit and Mayo cheered in unison. "He's defending the 'Glow'! He's officially gone soft!"

The Chaos Menu

Mica and Rakki started pulling out old photos from a university cloud drive, projecting them onto the 100-inch theater screen in the living room.

"Remember this?" Freya laughed, pointing at a photo of Keifer and me at the Year 3 Formal. Keifer was looking at me with the exact same possessive intensity he had now. "He's been 100% obsessed with her since the day she corrected his physics notes. The amnesia was just a temporary system crash."

"To the Watsons!" David shouted, raising a glass of Keifer's finest scotch. "The only couple whose romance is louder than their security team!"

"To Jay and Keif!" the squad roared—Cin, David, Calix, Felix, Erdix, Rory, Mayo, Kit, Mica, Ella, Freya, and Rakki—all raised their glasses as Mamma, Pappa, and the brothers joined in.

I looked at Keifer, and he looked at me. Amidst the chaos, the screaming, the teasing, and the 15 different conversations, he leaned down and whispered in my ear.

"Status check, Weify?"

"Chaos level: 1,000%," I whispered back, smiling until my cheeks ached. "System status: Home."
