Chapter 239 - Chapter 238 the 10:00 AM

The 10:00 AM Hallway Glitch: A 1,000% Distraction

[Jay's POV]

By mid-morning, I had finally managed to assemble myself. Being five months pregnant with twins meant that "getting ready" was no longer a routine; it was a strategic maneuver involving three different support pillows and a very patient dressing assistant. I was wearing a soft, form-fitting emerald green dress that stretched comfortably over the "Double-Heir" bump.

I felt radiant, but I also felt like a very slow-moving planet.

I was heading toward the library to check on some charity gala files when I saw him. Keifer was coming from the opposite end of the grand marble hallway, flanked by Keigan and two senior analysts. He was in full "CEO Mode"—sharp charcoal suit, a tie that cost more than my first car, and an expression that could freeze boiling water. He was barking out orders about the European market expansion, his eyes fixed on a tablet.

As we approached each other, the analysts slowed down, preparing to give me the "Imperial Greeting." But Keifer? He didn't just slow down. He came to a full, grinding halt.

The Interception: [Keifer's POV]

I was mid-sentence—"If the Q3 projection doesn't hit 12%, I want the data re-scanned"—when the "Target" entered my visual field.

Jay was walking toward me, her "Glow" hitting a frequency that made the high-end LED chandeliers in the hallway look dim. The green dress emphasized every curve of the "Double-Heir" project, and suddenly, the European market felt about as important as a broken pencil.

"Hold the data," I muttered to Keigan, not taking my eyes off my wife.

"But Keif, the 11:00 AM board call is with the London—"

"I said hold it."

I stepped into Jay's path. The analysts scurried back like they'd just seen a predator enter the clearing. Jay stopped, a playful, slightly nervous smile touching her lips.

"Good morning, Hubby," she said, her voice like silk. "Finished with your 'World Domination' for the hour?"

The 1,000% Whisper: [Jay's POV]

Keifer didn't answer immediately. He stepped closer—way past the "Professional Decorum" limit. He reached out, his hand hovering just inches from the curve of my waist before he leaned down. His scent—that lethal mix of expensive cedarwood and the lingering steam from his morning shower—completely overwhelmed my system.

He leaned into my ear, his breath hot against my skin, sending a 1,000% voltage spike straight to my heart.

"The curve of that dress," he whispered, his voice a low, gravelly vibration that only I could hear, "is 1,000% distracting. My brain is currently experiencing a total 'Command Failure' because all I can think about is how much I want to skip this board call, take you back to our wing, and run a 'Physical Audit' for the rest of the afternoon."

I felt my face go from "Pale Empress" to "Solar Flare" in under a second. "Keifer!" I hissed, my hand flying to my chest. "Your team is right there! Keigan is literally taking notes!"

He pulled back just an inch, his blue eyes burning with a possessive, mischievous fire. "Let him take notes. He can record that the CEO is currently 'Unavailable' due to an urgent 'Wife-Management' crisis. I might have to cancel the 11:00 AM call just to keep an eye on you, Jay. You're a safety hazard to my productivity."

The "Library" Retreat: [Author's POV]

Jay let out a choked, half-giggle, half-gasp. She looked over Keifer's shoulder at Keigan, who was currently staring at the ceiling and pretending to be a marble statue. The analysts were busy studying the intricate patterns of the floor tiles as if their lives depended on it.

"Go to your meeting, you arrogant dork!" Jay whispered, giving him a gentle push that didn't move him even a millimeter.

"Make me," Keifer challenged, a smug smirk playing on his lips. He let his hand trail slowly down her arm, his thumb catching the fabric of her sleeve in a way that felt 1,000% like a promise.

"I'm going to the library!" Jay declared, her "System" officially overheating. "And I'm locking the door! Do not follow me, Keifer Watson!"

She turned and practically waddled-sprinted toward the library doors. Keifer stood in the middle of the hallway, watching her go, his hands in his pockets and a look of pure, unadulterated triumph on his face.

The Aftermath: [Keigan's POV]

I cleared my throat, tapping the tablet screen. "So... back to the 12% projection, or are we officially listing 'Wife-Distraction' as a corporate risk factor?"

Keifer didn't even look at me. He was still staring at the library doors. "Cancel the first fifteen minutes of the London call, Keigan. Tell them I had a 'Hardware Conflict'."

"You're a goner, Big Bro," I sighed, shaking my head.

"1,000%," Keifer murmured, finally turning back to the meeting, his stride even more confident than before.
