Chapter 47 - Act 1 Chapter 7 — Force Thruster

They rushed to hide from the swarm of Morak that suddenly arrived while they were relaxing under a tree. The three of them chose to hide behind trees and bushes.

Infori and Flynn stood behind a different tree, while Nathan crouched behind a bush full of dark leaves, completely obscuring his entire body.

The Morak were under the same tree where the three of them had rested earlier. Their numbers could be counted, but there could be more.

Infori wondered. (Why are they here while we're relaxing? Is...) He then thought for a moment, observing the creatures still there. (Could it be...!)

However, something surprised them: the Morak noticed three bags left behind under the tree.

That's when their eyes widened at this astonishing fact—Infori, Flynn, and Nathan, who saw it, suddenly realized and were shocked.

"Our bags...?!" Flynn whispered, in a low voice.

(Shit! We forgot to bring it...!)

"How could I forget...?!" Nathan muttered, biting his lip.

This was a fatal mistake. They were in such a rush to hide that they forgot the item they were supposed to be guarding, plus one of the bags contained a rare artifact/Saga.

They could go out to fight and get their bags back, but the worst case scenario could happen at any moment.

But Infori clearly didn't want to let his bag be taken by monsters like Morak.

(I can't let the Blades of Mirage fall back into Morak's hands, especially now that the artifact doesn't seem to be working at all...! I have to act fast.)

One of the Morak reached for Infori's bag, forcing Infori to act first.

"Damn it!"

Then, he drew his sword from its sheath. It was imbued with wind magic. Because the artifact controlled wind, in the form of a ring, he still wore it.

Infori gripped his sword tightly and swung it. He created a wind slash towards a Morak who was trying to grab his bag.

WOOSSHH!

The Morak didn't have time to move; he was hit by the wind, knocked backward, and lay helpless.

This unexpected incident shocked the other Morak, who became wary of their surroundings.

Even Flynn and Nathan were stunned by Infori's actions.

"...?!"

"Infori...?!" Flynn muttered.

Infori immediately emerged from his hiding place, kicked up dust behind him, and ran swiftly towards the Morak.

This made the Morak extremely wary of their enemy's appearance and movements.

"Grrhh!"

Fearlessly, the Morak advanced towards him, wielding their weapons. However, Infori made the first move, immediately drawing his sword.

So the tip of the blade pierced the defense of the Morak in front of him without any resistance at all.

SRAKK!

Morak's fresh blood flowed onto the blade.

Without hesitation, Infori removed the blade from the Morak's body. Then, continuing forward, he swung his sword, delivering a precise slash to the neck of the Morak next to the one he had stabbed.

Swing!

SRAAK!

The Morak's head was severed from its body, blood spraying in all directions.

However, at that very moment, Infori lost his defense behind him. Three Morak simultaneously attacked his back.

"Ah, shit!" Infori exclaimed.

He didn't have time to look back, leaving his back open to being slashed. However, at that moment, Flynn, with full awareness, slashed all three at once with his claymore sword.

"GARRGH!"

They vanished like burning paper. Flynn stood behind Infori, making Infori look back momentarily.

"Flynn?!"

"Be careful!" Flynn said.

"Yes!" Infori understood and immediately turned back.

Then, Nathan, who had been hiding, came out and slashed one of the Morak who had taken his large bag. He was carrying the sword that one of the Morak had dropped yesterday and was using it as a weapon against the Morak itself.

"Put that bag down now!"

The slash killed the Morak, leaving them in ruins.

Nathan breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thank goodness we're still safe," he said. "But why were we hiding if they were that weak?"

"Don't lose sight of them!" Flynn suddenly replied to Nathan. "Even if they're weak, there are always more of them, and there's more of them than this!"

"Okay, okay. I'll try to focus."

Meanwhile, Infori retrieved his bag and put it on.

Suddenly, Infori's lips curled into a snarl.

"Looks like your sun has already gone."

The remaining five Morak were extremely wary of their enemy, but it seemed fear wasn't a problem for them.

However, Flynn and Nathan, who had been standing behind them, were ready.

Flynn would launch his final attack, while Nathan would simply guard in case any of the Morak managed to escape. But that wouldn't happen because—

Flynn quickly pushed off, his body rocketing forward, carrying his greatsword, and then swung it with incredible force.

The blade swung horizontally, but nothing happened.

Swing!

It was as if the moment was forced to pause, waiting for the right moment to move again.

At that moment—

A large, glowing blue line of energy appeared horizontally in front of the Morak, then suddenly slashed through every part of their bodies.

CRACK!

Fresh blood splattered everywhere. However, it vanished instantly.

Nathan and Infori's eyes widened at this, unaware that Flynn possessed such a deadly technique.

"...?!"

The threat was now temporarily gone.

Infori breathed a sigh of relief, while Flynn dropped his sword, but it vanished into thin air as a gentle gust of wind before hitting the ground.

Infori then praised Flynn's incredibly powerful sword technique.

"Your sword is stronger than I thought."

"Yes. But I'm sure my Exceed The Storm can do more than this."

"Well, let's see."

Nathan then approached Flynn, asking in an excited tone, "Hey, that was a really good move!"

"Thanks," Flynn replied without exaggeration. "Force Thruster may be great, but that skill uses a lot of Exceed The Storm's energy. Same goes for one of my best abilities, Exceed Slash."

"Woah... I see." Nathan and Infori understood.
