Iris smashed the shuttle past Otaku. "Your'e getting slow" she said, with a grin. "Or maybe you're just better than me". Otaku replied while bending to pick up the shuttle.
They have been playing like that since they were kids. Losing to her was nothing to Otaku at that point to feel bad about losing. They took a short break, sititng on the bench near the net. As they were drinking water Iris suddenly said "So Otaku" pausing for a bit "Have you considerd about dating anyone?"
Otaku almost choked on drink. Cough-cough after composing himself he said "Well that came out of nowhere". "Well" Iris replied "you're what like 19 now?". Otaku while looking up says "Well. Yes... thats true." There was a brief silence, nervously he said "Well. Why dont you try to introduce me to one of your friends?". Iris takes a slow sip of her water and says "Fine. Beat me in one match" while extending her hand for a handshake.
After a heavy exchange of shuttles across the net, something changed. Otaku suddenly got a wind and played his best, returnig every shot, anticipating Iris's next moves. Or maybe Iris played worse- no one could tell.
When the final point ended. Otaku stood there, breathing heavily while staring at the score.
He had won.
On their way back home, Iris stopped suddenly.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" Iris said.
He replied "your dignity?". She stared at his soul and said with a dissapointing look "try again".
Otaku thought a bit and said "oh. You mean the bet?
She sighed in relief and said "I know someone who might be intrested in you. I'll introduce you to her"
