The Talking Twins (Oshaberi Futago) are a pair of six-sided dice, named Hanjin and Balyang respectively. They manifest in different forms depending on the number rolled. However, Alice can only roll a six, which takes the form of a pig. She is said to be unable to roll any number other than six without cheating. In their pig form, they deprive the target of their mobility by biting them with their stapler-shaped mouths.
Fortunately, they didn't go for a killing blow right away, otherwise, there would be no discussion. It seems they want to subdue me first and then interrogate me slowly. But even so, there's no reason why I should let myself be caught by you.
Rin dodged, jumping back into the courtyard, and saw two girls, or rather, witches, appear at the doorway of the Western-style house.
One was a tall, lively, black-haired high school beauty with straight hair, wearing a dark blue sweater and jeans. She still looked bewildered, staring at her companion, not understanding what was happening.
Well, this clueless, single-minded girl is the current head of the Aozaki Family, Miss Aozaki Aoko, a Magus-in-training who inherited the Magic Crest of the Fifth Magic!
Looking at her bewildered expression, it felt like all the Maguss in the world were being demeaned. Damn, this is the Magus they pursue their entire lives, yet can never attain?!
The other person was dressed in all black—a black long-sleeved top with a black short skirt, black stockings, and black house shoes. In stark contrast to her fair, never-touched-by-sunlight skin, she was a black-haired girl with a blank expression, like a delicate Puppet Master.
The Eternal Princess, descendant of the Great Witch, the Witch of Fairytales, the Last Bird, Alice Kuonji.
Honestly, Aoko, look at her demeanor, then look at yourself. So boisterous, and yet a Magus.
Rin looked at the two Witches before her with a joyful mood, grinning, "Oh my, why so agitated? I'm just a delivery girl, that's all. Why are you so worked up, Witch sisters?"
Damn, anyone would see that playful smile as a provocation.
"That's right, Alice, she's just here to deliver food."
Pretend I didn't say that last sentence... Alice glanced at her companion with a blank expression. Although she didn't say a word or even show a single emotion, her eyes clearly reflected two words: idiot!
Alice Kuonji stared intently at Rin, her beautiful face, devoid of any expression, showing a layer of caution. She said, "What is your purpose in coming here?"
Rin, with an unchanged, lively (and annoying) smile, replied, "Food delivery! Two mixed vegetable ragout from Shinos. Please sign for it."
"Heh heh heh, a Color-rank Magician bypasses your defensive magical barrier in the middle of the night to deliver food to you. You truly are the best comedian in the mysterious world," Alice Kuonji scoffed with a blank face, not a hint of a smile.
That's right. Rin, after her battle with Soujuurou Shizuki, had suffered severe physical damage due to Soujuurou Shizuki's weakness creation. This allowed Rin's body to capture information about a qualitative transformation. The refinement of her magical energy resulted in a complete qualitative change for Rin, elevating her from a high-ranking Arch-rank to a Color-rank.
Upon hearing Alice's words, Aozaki Aoko also reacted and immediately looked at Rin with full vigilance.
For no other reason than this: less than a year ago, after the Aozaki Family's Magic Crest was implanted into Aoko, and the old-generation Magus Aozaki was served a 'hatchet bento' by his disciple and granddaughter, Aozaki Touko, Maguss coveting and spying on the misaki leyline and the Fifth Magic Crest appeared like rats from the sewers, endless and inexhaustible, constantly emerging from various corners of Misaki City.
As the current head of the Aozaki Family and the wielder of the misaki leyline, Aoko, along with Alice, had killed and dealt with countless Maguss almost daily. Yet, those annoying flies seemed to be endless.
However, this was the first time they had encountered a Color-rank Magician.
But this did not mean that Aoko and Alice were afraid, for they were both Maguss with strength that belied their age.
Aozaki Aoko, who had only been exposed to magic for less than a year, had an ordinary number of Magic Circuits. However, her Magic Circuits were extraordinary in terms of rotation speed, durability, magical energy quality, and low fuel consumption... This is why she was chosen as the successor to the Fifth Magic.
Originally, Aozaki Aoko, who had no inheritance, after obtaining the Fifth Magic, this key to the truth of the world, rapidly approached the essence of mystery, consciously or unconsciously. Despite only having been exposed to magic for less than a year, she had already become a formidable Magus.
However, compared to Aoko, who had not yet activated the Fifth Magic at this time, Alice was even more difficult to deal with. Rin mused, her gaze inadvertently fixed on Alice Kuonji, this exquisite girl like a Puppet Master.
Alice Kuonji, Aoko's housemate and magic teacher. A second-year student at Reien Girls' Academy. A Witch. The Eternal Princess, a lonely, old-fashioned, stubborn girl who held onto her pride, forgotten by time. She specialized in fairytale-themed curses and pharmacology, a fantasy-wonderland Witch. Lacking human emotions, she lived strictly as a Magus. Her daily routine rigorously followed the Witch's way of life: "hiding her identity and researching magic."
Compared to Aoko, who had only been exposed to the magical path for less than a year, Alice was born as a Witch. From the moment of her birth, she stepped into the world of the mysterious side, a born Witch. Her Magic Circuits, both in quantity and quality, were extraordinary, even surpassing Rin's!
Although Rin's Magic Circuits covered her entire body, they were only hidden beneath her skin. Alice Kuonji's Magic Circuits, however, were not only attached to her skin and flesh, but also covered her bones and even internal organs. While Rin's meticulously refined Magic Circuits might have been superior in quality, in terms of quantity, perhaps only Illya, whose body was composed of Magic Circuits, could surpass Alice.
"I'll ask you again, what is your purpose?" Alice's expressionless face concealed a hint of hostility.
"Why does no one believe me when I tell the truth?! I really am just delivering food!"
"Then there's nothing more to discuss."
With that, a glass cat-shaped bell on Alice's wrist fell to the ground.
Rin slapped her forehead. It was over, there was nothing more to discuss. Can't people just listen properly?
