Fangxi lay motionless on the bed like a lifeless body fear had completely taken hold of him.
His fingers were tightly wrapped around the blanket gripping it with such force that they had turned pale.
That unknown shadow had now come very close to him. Then a heavy voice echoed through the room,
"Fangxi! You won't...escape!"
Despite being a strict and arrogant CEO of ZXMG, Fangxi was, at this moment, trembling like a child in broad daylight.
The person sat on his bed and said in a chilling, whisper-like voice,
"Fangxi! I won't... spare you!"
And the very next second, that person suddenly started tickling Fangxi's stomach!
Fangxi, who had been bracing himself for death, suddenly jumped on the bed from the unexpected attack.
Half scared and half laughing, he shouted,
"Hey! No... stop it!"
Because of the tickling, Fangxi completely lost control, and the person quickly pulled off his blanket.
Seizing the moment, Fangxi pushed the person away with all his strength.
The push was so strong that the person fell off the bed and let out a painful scream,
"Aaaaaahhh!"
Hearing the scream, Fangxi quickly turned back. The sight in front of him left him completely shocked.
The only words that came out of his mouth were stammered:
"You... you!"
Fangxi quickly got off the bed and helped the person up.
Seeing the person in front of him, Fangxi was stunned—this time not out of fear, but pure shock.
"yo… you're Sheyaan?!"
he asked, trying to hide both his worry and surprise.
Just then, Sheyaan lifted her face in anger. She was holding her head with both hands since she.
had gotten hurt from falling off the bed. Snapping in frustration, she said,
"So… do I look like a...ghost to you?!"
Hearing her tone and seeing her like this, Fangxi immediately realized that the "angel of death"
he had been trembling over was actually Sheyaan. He took a deep breath and said slowly,
"But… what have you.. put on your face? Huh! I was... seriously scared!"
Sheyaan shot him a sarcastic look and pointed at her face, replying irritably,
"It's a... face mask! And I only... came to wake you up… and ask you.. something! But you... thought I was a ghost and...pushed me off the bed!"
Still sitting on the floor, Sheyaan continued ranting angrily,
"Are you a... little kid or something, getting scared of ghosts like that? Has your... childhood fear still not gone...away? Huh!"
Sheyaan didn't let a single opportunity slip by to scold Fangxi after all he had accidentally pushed her off the bed.
And not just lightly it has been hard enough for her head to hit the floor directly.
Seeing her furious expression, Fangxi's usual CEO arrogance completely disappeared.
He quickly stepped forward and, in a soft and concerned tone, said,
"Sorry! Let me see… are you hurt badly.. anywhere?"
In panic, Fangxi gently ran his hands around her head, checking if she was bleeding. Almost pleading, he said softly,
"You know..., Sheyaan… I'm still really...scared of ghosts. That's why, seeing your face... like that, I genuinely got terrified! I'm.. really sorry!"
Hearing his sincere and innocent apology, Sheyaan's anger cooled down a little. She relaxed slightly and said sarcastically,
"So, are you...going to help me up, or are you...planning to let me sit on the floor.. all day?"
Fangxi immediately nodded and said,
"Okay, come on!"
He held her hand, helped her up, and gently seated her on the bed. Then he sat beside her and asked,
"Now tell me, what did you... come to ask so early in the... morning?"
A spark of excitement lit up Sheyaan's face. Smiling softly, she said,
"Yeah… I wanted to ask..if I can go out with.. Professor?"
There was a spark of hope in Sheyaan's eyes as she said,
"He said we'll go to the...library today! I'll get new... books to read there, I can study properly, and I'll...even get to meet new students!"
She looked at Fangxi once again and, in a soft voice, asked for permission,
"So… can I...go?"
Fangxi looked at her carefully. A faint smile appeared on his face as he replied gently,
"For such a... small thing, you don't..need to ask me. You should learn to make these little...decisions on your own."
Saying that, he lovingly patted her head and added,
"You can go! And...yes, study well. If you face any problem, make sure to... tell me, okay?"
Hearing this, Sheyaan couldn't contain her happiness. She jumped up excitedly and hugged Fangxi, saying,
"Thank you! Thank you..so much, Fangxi!"
Fangxi gently stroked her head and teased her again,
"No wonder I was... thinking… how did a 'Kumbhkaran' wake up so early!"
"And yeah,..take off that black face mask, or anyone might get scared like I...did. You really look weird!"
The moment she heard the name "Kumbhkaran," Sheyaan made a face.
She immediately stepped away from Fangxi and said in a sulky tone,
"Hey! Don't call me...Kumbhkaran!" And now.. it's time to take off this...beauty face mask.
Seeing her irritation, Fangxi burst out laughing. Sheyaan quickly got up from the bed and said,
"Alright, I'm going now. I need to get...ready too. Bye-bye!"
She left the room full of excitement. Fangxi kept watching her leave; his smile faded, and he turned serious as he softly said,
"I wish, Sheyaan… that all your dreams..come true!"
Saying that, he walked toward the washroom. Meanwhile, the scene at the penthouse was completely different.
Zavian was standing on his room's balcony, both hands resting on the railing,
watching the busy city below. Just then, a voice came from behind,
"Boss! Why are you..standing here? Aren't you going to... Sheyaan's house today?"
It was Kalene, who had come to stand beside him. Without taking his eyes off the city, Zavian spoke in a cold, calm voice,
"Kalene! I can't understand...how my powers are returning to... me so easily!"
Hearing this, Kalene's eyes widened in shock. Stammering, he asked,
"wha...what? All your powers have...returned?!"
Zavian took a deep, cold breath and replied flatly,
"Not all of them… but I want to know... how this is happening."
Lost in a sea of thoughts Zavian frowned slightly a questions echoed in his mind Zavian's voice broke the silence.
"How did I... regain 10%of my.. powers!"
Kalene thought for a moment and then quickly said,
"Boss! You know...Azrhael that the closer you stay to...Sheyaan, the more your powers will return! But you've been.. around her for the past.. few days… they didn't come... back then, so how did they...suddenly return now?"
Zavian looked at Kalene and replied seriously,
"I don't know...how they came back."
Then, hesitating a little, Kalene asked in a low voice,
"Boss… has something… you know… happened between you two?"
The moment Zavian heard the words "something like that," he glared at Kalene,
his eyes filled with a chilling coldness. Kalene immediately got scared and stammered,
"No! That's not...what I meant… I just thought maybe your... powers returned because.. of her."
Kalene's words pushed Zavian into deep thought. After a few moments of silence,
Zavian hid the moments he had shared with Sheyaan and said in a firm tone,
"Kalene! Don't cross your... limits!"
Saying that, Zavian didn't think it was right to stay there any longer and started walking out of the room.
But deep inside, one question kept knocking at his mind:
"Could it really...be because of that… that my powers.. returned?"
Meanwhile, Kalene stood alone on the balcony, hitting his forehead in frustration. He muttered to himself,
"Why did I...even say that? Thank God he didn't...say anything more to me!"
At the same time, Fangxi walked out of his room while talking to someone on the phone.
His tone carried a boss-like authority, but there was also a hint of concern in it. He asked,
"Everything is fine... now, right? There won't be any problem... after coming here?"
From the other side, a confident voice replied,
"Don't worry..., everything is fine. We've checked...everything thoroughly!"
Hearing this, a relieved smile appeared on Fangxi's face. He said,
"Okay! And thank you... for informing me!"
Still on the call, Fangxi walked into the hall and was about to hang up when suddenly the doorbell rang loudly.
He immediately turned toward the door. Just then, a servant stepped forward and opened it.
As soon as the door opened, Fangxi was stunned by what he saw and instantly turned serious.
At the door stood Chan, Manglong, and Lucy. Lucy looked fine now, but there was still a small bandage on her neck.
The three of them walked inside together and stopped right in front of Fangxi. Manglong, in a strict and serious tone, asked:
"Why didn't you...come to see Lucy, Fangxi? Has your important work...still not been completed?"
Fangxi didn't respond to Manglong's question and simply stared at him. Then he looked at Lucy and asked softly,
"Are you.. okay now?"
Lucy replied in a completely flat tone,
"Yes! I have to be.. fine. After all, I have to earn my...own living... if I depended on you..., I'd probably starve to...death!"
Lucy's sarcastic words hit Fangxi straight in the heart, but he remained silent and said nothing.
Continuing, with a tone full of pride, she added:
"I am the owner...of this house! And now... that I'm back... only I will have the... final say here. I've had enough... of you!"
Hearing her harsh words, Fangxi froze completely.
In that moment of utter helplessness he found himself unable to do anything all his could do was stand there.
And.. keep looking at Lucy.
