Chapter 77 - The Midnight Hourglass :

A strange glint flashed in Chan's eyes his gaze turning cold and calculating.

Form the tone of his voice it was evident. He had no intention of letting Zavian go that easily.

Meanwhile, Lucy was pacing around her room like a wounded serpent, burning with rage. Gritting her teeth, she shouted,

"I won't spare that... Sheyaan! Never!"

Seeing her madness, Manglong, who was sitting on a chair nearby, spoke in a deep, heavy voice,

"Calm down, Lucy! We will take revenge for every... bit of disrespect—and such revenge that they... will never forget!"

Hearing this, Lucy looked at him with both anger and hope and asked,

"But Uncle… when? When will that day come.. when we finally take our... revenge?"

Manglong fell into deep thought for a moment. Before he could respond, Chan burst out angrily,

"Dad! If you say the word, I'll go right now..and show that Sheyaan her... place!"

Manglong's anger flared at Chan's impatience. He said sternly,

"Calm down, both of you! Don't forget that Fangxi is still... in the house. We cannot make any mistake that might put...suspicion on us!"

Hearing his scolding, both of them sat down quietly to one side,

but the fire of hatred in their eyes hadn't faded. Manglong muttered under his breath,

"Let the time come… everyone will be accounted.. for."

Manglong sternly calmed Lucy and Chan down, saying,

"Have some patience, understand?"

His tone left them with no choice but to fall silent.

Meanwhile, in another part of the house, the atmosphere was completely different.

Fangxi stepped out of his room with a smile, his phone in his hand as he checked something on it. He let out a satisfied breath and muttered to himself,

"It's done. The order is.. placed."

He had clearly ordered the same cake for Sheyaan that he had promised her.

Slipping his phone into his pocket, Fangxi rubbed his hands together in excitement and said softly,

"Now I should.. call Sheyaan… she's probably in her room."

He quickly walked through the corridor and reached Sheyaan's room. Opening the door, he called out,

"Sheyaan! Sheyaan… where are you?"

But there was no response from inside. The room was completely silent. Fangxi paused in slight confusion, then said to himself,

"Maybe she's... downstairs."

He headed straight down the stairs and entered the hall. The sight in front of him brought a gentle, warm smile to his lips

Sheyaan was sitting near the dining table,

Overwhelmed by sadness her head slowly came to reast on the table.

and without realizing it, she quietly drifted into sleep right there.

When Fangxi saw Sheyaan sleeping, his mischievous side instantly woke up.

He quietly tiptoed closer to her and leaned right next to her ear, then suddenly shouted in a creepy whisper,

"Sheeeeyaaaannnn!"

Lost in deep sleep, Sheyaan was completely startled by the sudden scare. She let out a loud scream,

"Aaaaaah! Aaaah!"

and flailed her hands in panic. One of her hands struck Fangxi's head with full force.

The hit was so strong that Fangxi lost his balance, and his head slammed hard against the corner of the dining table.

"Aaaahhh! I'm dead… my head!"

Fangxi groaned in pain, his voice echoing through the hall.

As Sheyaan came back to her senses and saw Fangxi writhing in pain, she immediately panicked. She quickly asked,

"Ar… are you okay?"

Fangxi held his head and collapsed onto the nearby chair. Making a pitiful face, he said,

"Aaah! That hurt so much… is your hand or a.. hammer?"

Seeing his condition, Sheyaan's fear slowly turned into anger. Placing her hands on her waist, she said,

"What was the need to..scare me like that? Huh! Now that you've been...hit, you're crying and holding your.. head!"

Fangxi pouted innocently and pleaded,

"You… you're scolding me? Help me! My head really hurts.., do something quickly!"

Sheyaan let out a sigh and softened a little.

"Let me see, is it too.. bad?"

she said, examining his head. Thankfully, the injury wasn't serious. She reassured him,

"It's not that..bad, just a small bruise will.. form. Wait here, I'll be right.. back!"

With those words Sheyaan quickly rushed to the kitchen without wasting a second.

She prepared a warm pad and hurried back to the hall. Carefully she placed it on Fangxi's head and said softly.

"Here, use this… it'll help you feel a bit better."

Fangxi groaned in pain as he took the pad from her and held it against his head. Her concern seemed to ease his pain a little.

Just then, the silence of the house was broken by the doorbell:

"Ding-Dong!,

A servant quickly rushed to the door and opened it. Outside stood a delivery boy,

who looked like he had come from an expensive cake shop. The servant looked him up and down before asking,

"Yes? Who are you.. here to see?"

The delivery boy smiled and held out a beautifully packed box, politely replied,

"Hello, ma'am… there's a parcel for Mr. Fangxi."

The servant immediately turned toward the hall and called out loudly,

"Sir! There's a parcel in your name!"

Fangxi, who was still sitting on the chair holding his head, looked at Sheyaan and said with a smile,

"Go, Sheyaan… it's for you."

Sheyaan looked at him in surprise, thought for a moment, then quickly ran toward the door.

Reaching the delivery boy, she asked with hopeful excitement,

"give me...parcel!"

The delivery boy smiled and handed her a paper,

"Yes, ma'am, please sign.. here."

Sheyaan quickly signed and took the parcel. Beaming with excitement, she said,

"Thank you!" before heading..back inside.

She placed the parcel on the dining table and asked curiously,

"What's inside this,..Fangxi?"

Fangxi, forgetting his pain for a moment, gave a faint smile and said,

"Why don't you check... it yourself?"

As soon as Sheyaan opened the parcel, her eyes widened in amazement. Her face lit up with joy, and she exclaimed loudly,

"Yesss! You got my favorite cake..so quickly? That's amazing!"

She practically bounced with happiness and, sitting on the chair, looked at Fangxi and said,

"Good.. job!"

Hearing this, a triumphant smile spread across Fangxi's face. It felt like all his effort—and even the pain from that hit—was totally worth it.

Fangxi smiled lightly and said.

Enough talking...just eat it!"

Without wasting even a second Sheyaan quickly picked up a spoon and took a big bite of the cake.

Her face lit up with joy as she happily said,

"Wow! Strawberry cake… this is so.. good!"

Then she filled the spoon again and held it out toward Fangxi.

"Here, you have.. some too," she said warmly.

Fangxi took a bite and nodded slowly,

"Hmm… it's really.. tasty."

Then, turning a bit serious, he added,

"Alright, you can have more.. later. First, finish your dinner... properly."

Sheyaan nodded immediately like an obedient child,

"Okay!"

Just then, a servant came in with dinner and neatly served it on the table.

Sheyaan and Fangxi began eating together peacefully. The earlier tension in the hall had faded—only their soft conversation and the gentle clinking of utensils filled the air.

While eating, Fangxi took a bite of salad and softly said...

"Sheyaan! Your birthday is in.. two days… just tell me what you... want."

Fangxi had expected her to jump with excitement at the mention of her birthday, but the reaction was completely different.

Sheyaan paused while eating her chicken and looked at him. Her expression suddenly fell, and with innocent yet deep sadness, she said,

"I don't know what..I want… and anyway, I don't want to... celebrate my birthday."

After saying that, she took a sip of water and, without looking at Fangxi, stood up and walked toward her room with slow,

heavy steps. Fangxi was left completely stunned. He quickly tried to stop her,

"Hey! Sheyaan… wait! What happened? Why are you...saying this?"

But she didn't stop and silently disappeared into the corridor. Fangxi remained seated,

holding his glass of wine, lost in thought. He muttered softly,

"What happened to..her? Why did she..suddenly leave?"

Unable to ignore it, he quickly finished his drink and headed toward his room as well.

Meanwhile, on a quiet city road, Zavian was driving his car. The highway lights glowed dimly, and the road was almost deserted—only a few vehicles could be seen.

As always, Zavian's face was calm and serious as he focused on driving… when suddenly,

the mysterious chain around his neck—holding a small watch—began to emit a faint blue glow.

That strange light was a clear sign… something was about to happen.

The blue light coming from Zavian's watch was growing deeper and more intense.

He noticed, with a hint of surprise, that the hands inside the watch had started spinning far faster than normal time.

Zavian placed his hand over the glowing chain, feeling its cold surface.

A dangerous seriousness settled over his face as he murmured in a deep voice,

"Whose death… is approaching?"

With that, he pressed harder on the accelerator. His full attention remained on the deserted road ahead,

while the watch around his neck now ticked like an active warning of danger.

He glanced out of the window, where the darkness had thickened even more.

A mysterious and dangerous smile slowly formed on his lips. In a cold tone, he said,

"Looks like… the prey is very close. Let's see."

The very next moment, Zavian sharply turned the steering wheel, executing a powerful drift.

The tires screeched loudly against the empty highway as the car changed direction and sped off into the darkness.

The silent highway was suddenly shattered by a loud desperate scream.

"Hello...someone please help me.! Is anyone here!".

The voice echoed into the darkness filled with fear and urgency.
