Chapter 17 Survivor's Diary

Chapter 17 Survivor's Diary

They began searching for supplies.

She first targeted a shop with a sign that read "Benefit the People Supermarket".

The glass door was shattered, and the inside was a mess.

Su Jinjin cautiously leaped across the broken glass, her left hand holding a sonic oscillation gun and her right hand holding condensed silver needles, ready to deal with any unexpected situations.

Although the parasitic variants do not appear in sunlight during the day, indoor spaces and certain dark places are where these parasitic variants hide.

Su Jinjin needs to stockpile supplies, so she will definitely not overlook some shopping malls. Therefore, she must be very careful when entering these buildings.

The supermarket shelves were overturned and most of the goods had been looted.

But she still found a few overlooked bottled cans in the corner, covered in dust.

"I don't know if it's expired or not..." Su Jinjin frowned, but still put it into her space. "Generally, fruits and canned meat have a shelf life of one or two years. I don't know how long the apocalypse in this instance world has been going on. I'll take it all and check it when I get back."

Su Jinjin put the three cans of fruit and two cans of meat she found into her storage space.

Then I started searching again, but I found nothing.

It has obviously been almost completely looted.

Suddenly, her gaze was drawn to a small door behind the cashier.

The door is labeled "Staff Break Room".

Su Jinjin tiptoed over, the silver needles twirling at her fingertips, ready to strike at any moment.

The sound of the doorknob turning was particularly jarring in the quiet supermarket.

The moment the door opened, a musty smell hit you.

In the rest room, a few pieces of clothing were scattered on a simple bed.

"It seems someone used to live here."

Su Jinjin finished her search and was about to leave when she noticed a map and an open notebook on the bed.

This immediately caught Su Jinjin's attention.

She took the notebook and looked at it directly. The text on the notebook was automatically converted into Su Jinjin's native language, which she could understand.

[Day 1: I was so scared. I heard that there were also terrible parasitic bloodworms in Andehua Town. I wanted to leave, but the boss said he would pay me ten times my salary to look after the shop. Ten times my salary is more than my annual income, so I gritted my teeth and persevered.]

[Day 10: I can't take it anymore! It's too terrifying. At night, I saw so many people being parasitized by bloodworms. And there were animals and humans being dragged away after being parasitized. Let whoever wants that ten times the salary take it; I need to be alive to get it! I have to leave.]

[Day 15: I was preparing to leave today, but then I discovered that the military had begun entering Anderhua Town. I felt that Anderhua Town had become safer, so I canceled my plans to leave.]

[Day 20: I was so stupid. I should have left sooner. The military failed. They suddenly announced that a nest of parasitic bloodworms has appeared in Anderhua Town, and there are too many monsters inside. Everyone needs to evacuate!]

...

Day 31: Will I die? I can only hide in a small room in the supermarket. The military was attacked by a horde of parasitic monsters during their evacuation. They are terrifying!

As Su Jinjin read on, her brows furrowed more and more deeply.

The notebook owner's handwriting gradually became messy from the beginning, until finally he was writing each word with trembling hands.

When she saw the words "the military failed" and "a nest of parasitic bloodworms," Su Jinjin's fingers involuntarily tightened.

"A monster's lair?" Su Jinjin slammed her laptop shut, her heart pounding.

They were clearly somewhat shocked by this sudden news.

"This town actually has a nest of parasitic bloodworms?"

Su Jinjin immediately unfolded the map beside the bed.

It turned out to be a map of Anderhua Town.

Several areas are circled in red on the map, with an abandoned factory in the northwest corner of the town being specially marked and a terrifying skull symbol drawn next to it.

A line of small text is written on the edge of the map: [The lair of the parasitic monsters!]

Su Jinjin's throat went dry. She quickly checked the map to confirm the direction—the location marked by the red circle was exactly on the route the helicopter was taking!

To get to the helicopter, she had to pass through the parasitic monster's lair.

"This is truly a big surprise!" Su Jinjin thought helplessly.

I carefully packed the notebook and maps into the storage space.

Although learning about the monster's lair was indeed unsettling, Su Jinjin quickly adjusted her mindset.

"Don't worry too much. As long as we avoid operating at night and are careful, we should be fine. Anyway, these parasitic monsters can't come out during the day."

Su Jinjin gently comforted herself, "Don't scare yourself."

Su Jinjin then continued searching for anything that could be used.

The supermarket has been almost completely ransacked.

Aside from receiving bad news about the monster's lair, the harvest was meager.

Su Jinjin left the supermarket and turned to head towards her next destination.

The pharmacy next to the supermarket.

The pharmacy's glass door was already broken, and the shelves inside were overturned.

Su Jinjin stepped into the empty store through the broken glass, the jarring creaking sound particularly clear in the empty space.

"It seems the shops in this town have all been looted. Now I can only rummage through the trash for anything of use."

She crouched down and began searching through the messy ground.

Suddenly, several intact packaging bags caught her attention.

"Gauze, cotton swabs, alcohol!" Su Jinjin's eyes lit up, and she quickly put away these medical supplies.

"Although we couldn't find the medicine, these are still unexpected gains. As long as we can find something we can, we can consider it a gain."

Su Jinjin continued to move between the counters, not missing a single drawer.

Common medicines such as cold medicine and anti-inflammatory drugs have long been sold out, and even the bottom corner of the shelves has been thoroughly searched.

Just as she was about to give up, a small drawer at the very back of the counter got stuck, and Su Jinjin pulled it hard.

"Splash!"

Three small bottles of vitamin tablets rolled out, gleaming enticingly in the sunlight.

"Vitamins!" Su Jinjin picked them up with delight, carefully checking the expiration date. "Although they're not some miracle cure, they're better than nothing."

Suddenly, a rustling sound came from outside the shop.

Su Jinjin immediately held her breath, and the silver needle quietly appeared between her fingers.

The sound quickly faded away, as if it were just the wind blowing something.

Su Jinjin relaxed.

When I left the pharmacy, the sun was already high in the sky.

Su Jinjin wiped the sweat from her forehead and decided to search a few more locations before dawn.

She unfolded the map, her gaze falling on the large shopping mall in the town of Andehua.

"But the mall is a bit far, let's go check this out next..." she murmured to herself, pointing to a building marked "Hardware Store".

In such a post-apocalyptic environment, tools are often more valuable than food.

Furthermore, Su Jinjin also wanted to find a place to test out the second skill of the [Tailor].

However, just as she was about to set off, the roar of an engine suddenly came from afar.

The sound was clearly that of a car.
