After meeting Henry, I went back to the living room. I rested on one of the cushions, staring at the chandelier and thinking of a way to use this to my advantage. I needed to be smart. I needed to move before they took any more of my blood.
Then Yuki came in. She looked happier than ever, walking through the door with a spring in her step. I didn't know if it was fake or not. After all, all that generosity of hers back in Oakland was fake too. She was a professional at playing a part, and I had been the biggest fool for believing it.
I couldn't care less about her mood. She was the least of my problems right now. My mind was focused on how to use Henry to get out of this nightmare. He was the only one who seemed to move freely outside in the woods, and he was innocent enough to trick. He was my ticket out.
