Chapter 48 - Episode 48 – The Awakening

01:10 PM – Estate War Room

The air inside the room had changed.

It wasn't just tension anymore.

It was something sharper.

More dangerous.

On the central screen, the global warrant against Srikant was now officially active.

Multiple countries had flagged his identity.

Financial systems were beginning to restrict access.

Surveillance networks were slowly turning against him.

For the first time—

The hunter was becoming the hunted.

But Srikant stood calm.

Unshaken.

Because his focus wasn't on the warrant.

It was on her.

Across the room, Sasmita stood in front of the Aurora interface.

Her eyes were fixed on the screen.

But she wasn't just looking.

She was… analyzing.

Patterns.

Data flow.

Encryption layers.

Something inside her mind was connecting faster than before.

Behind her, Rudra Sen noticed it immediately.

He stepped closer to Srikant.

"It's starting."

Srikant didn't ask what.

He already knew.

Cognitive Shift

Sasmita slowly moved her fingers across the console.

Without instructions.

Without hesitation.

She opened a restricted panel that even Rudra couldn't access earlier.

Rudra's eyes widened.

"That system is triple-layer encrypted…"

Sasmita spoke calmly—

"It's not."

Both men froze.

She continued, her voice steady but different.

"It's patterned encryption."

"Every layer repeats a modified sequence."

She tapped a few commands.

The system unlocked instantly.

Rudra stepped back in disbelief.

"She decoded it… in seconds."

Srikant's gaze deepened.

This wasn't normal intelligence anymore.

This was something else.

Hidden Layer – Activated

A new interface appeared.

Dark.

Minimal.

Dangerous.

At the center of the screen, a message displayed:

AURORA CORE ACCESS GRANTED

Below it—

A single command option:

ACTIVATE COGNITIVE PROTOCOL

Rudra reacted immediately.

"No."

Sasmita looked at him.

"Why?"

Rudra's voice turned serious.

"That protocol was never tested fully."

"It enhances neural processing."

"But it can also overload the brain."

Srikant added quietly—

"It could damage you."

Sasmita looked back at the screen.

Then at both of them.

"They already started this."

"If I don't understand it…"

"They'll always control me."

Silence filled the room.

Because she was right.

Decision Point

Srikant stepped closer to her.

"If you activate it…"

"There's no going back."

She met his eyes.

"For you, there was never a way back either."

For a moment—

Everything stopped.

Then Srikant gave a slight nod.

"Do it."

Activation

Sasmita pressed the command.

COGNITIVE PROTOCOL INITIATED

The system lights dimmed.

A low frequency sound filled the room.

Data streams began flowing rapidly across all screens.

Inside Sasmita's mind—

Everything changed.

Time slowed.

Sounds faded.

Patterns became clearer.

She could hear distant system signals.

See connections between unrelated data.

Understand structures instantly.

Her breathing became steady.

Controlled.

Her eyes slowly opened.

Different now.

Focused.

Precise.

First Result

She turned toward Rudra.

"Stop trying to trace the warrant through financial networks."

Rudra frowned.

"Why?"

She replied instantly—

"Because it's not coming from there."

She walked to another screen and typed quickly.

Lines of code appeared.

Then a hidden node revealed itself.

Location:

Iceland – Satellite Relay Server

Rudra stared at the screen.

"That node was invisible…"

Sasmita continued—

"They're routing the warrant through a ghost server."

"Not to hide it…"

"To make it impossible to remove."

Srikant looked at her carefully.

"You already found a way, didn't you?"

She gave a small, confident nod.

"Yes."

Counter Move

Within seconds, she executed a command.

A silent digital attack launched.

Not aggressive.

Precise.

The Iceland server glitched.

Then—

Disconnected.

The global warrant system froze temporarily.

Rudra almost laughed.

"She just delayed an international warrant…"

"In under a minute."

Srikant didn't smile.

Because he understood something deeper.

This wasn't just intelligence.

This was evolution.

Meanwhile – Axis Headquarters

Inside the control center, alarms suddenly triggered.

Meera Vashisht turned sharply.

"The warrant system just got disrupted."

Sovereign looked at the screen calmly.

"By her?"

Meera nodded slowly.

"Yes."

For a moment—

Silence.

Then Sovereign smiled.

"Good."

Meera looked confused.

"You're not concerned?"

Sovereign replied quietly—

"No."

"This is exactly what I wanted."

The Truth

Back in the estate—

Sasmita suddenly paused.

Her eyes focused on something invisible.

A pattern.

A hidden memory.

A voice echoed in her mind—

"Subject A-17… Phase Two begins when she becomes aware."

Her breathing slowed.

Then she whispered—

"This wasn't an experiment."

Srikant stepped closer.

"What do you mean?"

She looked at him.

Her voice calm.

Dangerously calm.

"They didn't create Aurora to study intelligence."

"They created it…"

"To build control over people who think differently."

Rudra felt a chill.

"And you're the key to that control."

Sasmita shook her head slightly.

"No."

She looked at the screen.

Then at both of them.

"I'm the flaw in it."

Final Scene

Far away, standing in darkness—

Sovereign watched everything.

His eyes calm.

Satisfied.

"She's awakening faster than predicted."

Meera asked,

"Should we stop her?"

Sovereign slowly shook his head.

"No."

"Because the moment she realizes her full potential…"

He smiled faintly.

"She'll either destroy us…"

"Or become us."
