Chapter 4 - Deducting Your Rice Bowl

911 Aircrew Base Supervisor Takar formally accepted the employment contract, then took out a stack of documents, pushed them over, and explained, "Don't borrow money from those bloodsuckers anymore. Now that you're here, focus on your work. This is the probationary agreement, in triplicate. Sign and fingerprint it. Do you have a copy of your ID card? If not, that's okay, there's a photocopier over there. After you're officially hired, you'll sign a formal temporary contract."

Takar didn't notice the strange look from the young man across the desk. He kept opening drawers, finally taking out a card, placing it on the card reader connected to the computer, and leaving many yellowish-brown marks on the keyboard and mouse. After taking back the signed agreement, he tossed the card over and began to ramble on about the relevant matters after joining the company.

"Here! This is your work card. Your food allowance and take-home pay are all in here. You can link it to mobile payment; this month's food allowance has already been pre-deposited. It's also your dormitory access card for dormitory B13. It's also a pass; if it opens, you can enter; if it doesn't, stay away. Don't lose it. I suggest you wear it around your neck. If you lose it, come find me immediately. From now on, you're a newbie at 911. Tomorrow, someone will take you to get your uniform and for onboarding training."

"Thank you!"

Chen Fei thanked him and prepared to put away the work card.

His agreement with the creditor was officially fulfilled, and he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, there was no delay; otherwise, he would have faced a substantial penalty.

Takar suddenly reached out and pressed his index finger against Chen Fei's work card, saying with a half-smile, "Wait a minute, rookie, you're short of money?"

Chen Fei honestly replied, "Yes!"

After all, he was still burdened with a debt of 5 million star coins, and now he had to sell himself to work to pay it off. It would be a lie to say he wasn't short of money.

The terms of the employment contract couldn't hide the fact that Chen Fei was in dire financial straits; after all, it clearly stated that the loan company would take 95% of his monthly salary, leaving him with only 5%.

Takar's shifty eyes gleamed.

The HR manager made a lewd gesture and chuckled obsequiously.

Bang!

The bowl of curry rice overturned in an instant, leaving the HR manager of the 911 Aircrew Base covered in curry rice and chicken.

He had long disliked this guy; he was indeed a pervert and should be burned at the stake.

Chen Fei was always a studious and well-behaved student, never hitting people randomly. Of course, scoundrels weren't considered human, so hitting them was pointless.

"What's going on?"

The office door suddenly opened, and a passing security guard, hearing the commotion, came in to check the situation.

Chen Fei remained silent, his face cold. A

Silence fell over the office.

Takar picked a small clump of rice from his forehead, put it in his mouth, chewed, swallowed, and awkwardly shook his head, pretending to be nonchalant, saying, "Uh! Nothing, nothing!"

He forgot he was using his left hand.

Huh!

What happened to tradition?!

"Good thing everything's alright!"

The security guard looked Chen Fei up and down, finding nothing amiss, and left.

Chen Fei pulled a tissue from his desk, carefully wiped his work card clean, put it in his pocket, and said without any apology, "Can I leave now?"

This guy sells his skills, not his body!

You think you're worthy?!

No wonder the wages here are so high; this place is toxic!

Takar, outwardly strong but inwardly weak, revealed his true colors, forcing a weak smile and spreading his hands in a gesture of humility, utterly lacking the courage to use his position as HR manager to utter a single word, let alone make any threats.

The international standing of Chen Fei's hometown was undeniable.

Anyone who dared to disobey would be immediately met with a deliveryman knocking on their head: "Hey buddy, got a package! Dongfeng Express, guaranteed delivery!

Those who disagree, come out and fight! Those who disagree outwardly, drag them out and beat them! Subdue them with virtue!

Are you scared yet?!"

The militia under the poplar tree panicked instantly; they

couldn't afford to mess with him. The perverted Takar himself was also panicking; if things escalated, his job would be in jeopardy.

Only after Chen Fei slammed the door, picked up his luggage, and left did he finally breathe a long sigh of relief, pursing his fingers in self-pity: "Homosexuality isn't illegal, why treat me like this?"

Chen Fei's guess was right; this place was poisonous!

Extremely poisonous! Emerging from the

HR

manager's office, Chen Fei looked up. Night had completely fallen, the sky filled with stars, and a faintly glowing ring slowly streaked across the crescent moon.

That was Cybertron, a digital intelligent construct that controlled the gateway to another world and overlooked the entire human civilization of Blue Star. It wasn't an alien visitor, but rather a native creation of Blue Star.

Unfortunately, he couldn't afford the expenses to travel to another world, so his desire to visit the Celestial Realm remained a thought.

Besides the "Halo" gate controlled by Cybertron, Blue Star also retained some stargate rings leading to the Primordial Realm, connecting to a desolate and lifeless world where resources were exhausted, leaving only endless desolation. Apart from the crumbling ruins gradually disappearing amidst the swirling sand and stones, there was nothing worth seeing, and it was extremely dangerous.

"New here?"

An aged voice brought Chen Fei back to his senses.

"Yes, yes!"

Chen Fei quickly replied.

The moment he saw the other person clearly, he froze, blurting out, "Neanderthals?"

As a remnant of the Third Era civilization, the Neanderthals were the initiators of the "War of the Three Realms' Fusion" thirty years ago. Their desperate cross-realm invasion caught the Blue Star Realm completely off guard. Unable to withstand the combined attacks of the two worlds in the later stages of the war, they were ultimately defeated, nearly suffering extinction.

Human civilization on the Blue Star Realm fared no better. With the sound of cannons, gold flowed freely; nuclear weapons were used indiscriminately. This barrage of attacks destroyed countless amounts of GDP, causing economic recession and widespread suffering in many countries. It took at least twenty years for them to finally recover.

Because the battlefield was located on the Blue Star's own territory, the natural environment damaged by intense nuclear radiation could not be fully restored in a few decades or even a hundred years. Mutant creatures born on the nuclear wasteland once ran rampant, along with uncontrolled deadly bacteria and viruses. It has only been barely brought under control in recent years, and the cost of the cleanup is no less than another "war for the fusion of the three realms".

After the war, the remaining Neanderthals chose to integrate into the human civilization of the Blue Star Realm. At least they didn't have to worry about being driven back to the hopeless Primordial Realm, which in a sense achieved their expected strategic goal. However, the price they paid was far too high. The twelve ruling tribes vanished, the Crimson Star Banner of the Supreme Council would never rise again, and their dwindling population was comparable to an endangered species.

Neanderthals and Homo sapiens, the ancestors of humans on the Blue Star Realm, were two flowers on the same vine. The two races had no reproductive isolation, and the common people did not resist racial integration much. After all, Neanderthal women and men were quite attractive (and warlike). Within a few years after the war, many hybrids of the two races were born, such as black Neanderthals, white Neanderthals, and yellow Neanderthals. In a hundred or two hundred years at most, pure-blooded Neanderthals will only become a legend, which is a result that the higher-ups of the Blue Star Realm's human civilization are happy to see.

In this aircrew base nestled in the wilderness, the sudden appearance of an elderly Neanderthal man was somewhat unexpected for Chen Fei.

Neanderthals are easily identifiable by their distinctive physical features; regardless of age or gender, they are mostly tall and possess unique tattoos, with the crimson tattoos on combat personnel being particularly dense and striking.

If it weren't for the nearby lights, the sudden sight of a gleaming bald head and face covered in blood-red tattoos would have made Chen Fei almost think he had encountered a demon lurking in the night.

"Neanderthals? What a nostalgic name!"

The old man seemed lost in memories, then suddenly chuckled, his voice hoarse, "Haha, getting old, always reminiscing. Hey, newbie, what's your name?"

Chen Fei obediently replied, "Hello, my name is Chen Fei, Chen of the East Ear, Fei of Non-essence."

Despite the long, deep wrinkles beneath the man's blood-red tattoos, he knew that ten of him wouldn't be a match for the old man's single arm or leg. The old Neanderthal could easily pin him to the ground and give him a good beating, and that was without the old man using any secret techniques. If he did, the old man's head would be a hundred meters away.
