Yukito raised his arm and firmly pressed down on the burly man who was a head taller than him.
With a serious expression, he asked, "Hello, I'd like to confirm something. Is the girl you're chasing named Shinobu Kocho?"
The man frowned in irritation. He slapped Yukito's hand away and cursed, "Damn it! Who the hell are you? You know that brat? Then pay her debt!"
He grabbed Yukito's wrist and lifted him slightly, intending to vent his anger.
Yukito remained calm.
Only one thing mattered right now.
"Is her name Shinobu Kocho?" he repeated.
According to what he remembered, the Butterfly sisters would eventually be brought into the Demon Slayer Corps by the Stone Hashira. Before that, they should have been wandering.
He had not expected to run into Shinobu Kocho in a random town.

She glanced at the medicine packet in her hands, then at Yukito surrounded by the three men.

Her eyes hardened with resolve.
"You hooligans, weren't you chasing me? I'm right here!" She darted out and shouted provocatively.
The leader immediately signaled his men.
"You little brat, don't let me catch you!"
The three rushed after her.
Yukito's eyes darkened.
They just insulted Shinobu.
If he couldn't kill them, breaking a leg was fine.
He followed into the alley.
Shinobu was familiar with the terrain and quickly turned a corner, temporarily shaking them off.
Then she saw Yukito chasing after her.
"Ara? Why did he follow me? Why isn't he running? What an idiot," she muttered softly.
She grabbed his sleeve and tried to pull him into a side passage to hide.
Instead, she stumbled forward into his arms.
Yukito froze.
The small, soot-covered girl he had been thinking about was suddenly pressed against him.
Eh? Am I dreaming?
He grinned foolishly.
Shinobu stared at him, baffled.
"Are you stupid?"
Before he could respond, the debt collectors found them.
"There they are!"
Shinobu instantly realized she was still in his arms. Her face flushed beneath the soot.
"You hooligan, what are you thinking?"
She slapped him.
Yukito snapped back to reality.
She hit me. I'm so happy.
He covered his cheek, staring at her like a complete pervert.
Shinobu dragged him into another alley.
They ran through narrow passages until she hit a dead end.
Out of breath, she stepped in front of Yukito to shield him.
"This has nothing to do with him! My sister and I already paid the principal and interest. The rest is nonsense interest you made up. Give us a few more days!"
Her voice trembled slightly.
The leader laughed mockingly.
"You were fierce just now. Why so polite now? I prefer it when you show your claws. Come on, smile for me."
Before he could finish—
Yukito appeared in front of him and drove a punch into his lower abdomen.
The sound echoed in the alley.
The man dropped to his knees, vomiting.
Yukito stepped forward and forced his head down into the puddle.
His voice was cold. "Why don't you try cursing again? I've tolerated you long enough. You collect debts, right? I wonder if you'll live long enough to collect more."
He drew his Nichirin Blade and stabbed it into the ground beside the man's head.
The two subordinates froze.
The leader's face turned pale.
He had thought the sword was decorative.
He had been wrong.
"You brat, I've killed people before you were born! Do you dare use that blade?" he shouted, trying to sound brave.
Yukito did not hesitate.
The blade pierced straight through the man's thigh.
"If you said you've killed people, then I don't need to feel guilty," Yukito said calmly. "I said I'd break a leg."
The man screamed in agony.
The other two turned and fled immediately.
Sometimes, humans and demons were not that different.
They both devoured people.
Just in different ways.
