Chapter 1 - The Choice of Kindness

Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived an old man named Thomas. He was known for his beautiful garden filled with rare and colorful flowers. One day, a young boy named Leo was playing nearby and accidentally kicked his ball into the garden, crushing some of Thomas's favorite lilies.

Fearing the old man's anger, Leo tried to run away. However, Thomas called out to him gently, "Wait, young man. Don't be afraid." Instead of shouting, Thomas picked up the ball and handed it back to Leo with a smile. "Flowers can grow back," he said, "but a frightened heart takes a long time to heal."

Touched by the old man's kindness, Leo started visiting him every day. He helped Thomas water the plants and pull out weeds. Under Thomas's guidance, Leo learned not just about gardening, but also about patience and compassion.

Years later, when Leo grew up, he became a teacher. He often told his students the story of the old man and the crushed lilies. He taught them that while it is easy to be angry, choosing to be kind is what truly makes a person great.

Moral: Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
