Chapter 10 - Seperation

At his hand, a vine wrapped round it like a snake. Cloud gripped it tightly with a now deepened smile.

"…Gotcha!"

Cloud muttered.

He twisted his body like a child playing with his fellow friends in a certain game. In a circular motion, he swung it around, clearing the enclosed field within a twenty meter radius. The rowls twisted to divert from the attack. But,

It was too late.

In the woods, deep in it, trees scattered, reaching the size of one layer of the house. The land twisted, coiled and formed an arc that screamed beauty and destruction. The remaining rowls watched the chaos unfold and with a close of their night eyes they went poof.

Moonlight screamed, "Cloud!" His vision blocked by the receding dust. Great, more trouble.

Within that wave of negative nature, a boy stood at the center of it all, "Hahahah!" His hands placed at his torso, pressing deeply on his sea blue shirt. His black hair flowed backwards and he faced the sky.

Is he truly an eight-year-old?

Now, Moonlight mind recalled. A child Adna is more powerful than an average hero.

This was stamped into his soul, deeply. The Adna's are dangerous.

"HAAHAHAAHAH…."

The laugh continued.

The young lad laughed on, disregarding the time, place and situation around him.

After a long session, he calmed. The first thing Cloud did was, look observantly as both his hands. He whispered something to himself.

"Cloud…"

"Hahah, Moonlight do you see?" Cloud boasts.

"Yeh… I see. But, we were sent here to observe,"

"Oh…"

Cloud calmed down seriously. All facial expressions dead as he realized; worst, being reminded by his little brother struck a deadly blow to his heart, soul and body.

He gave a squeal as crocodile tears formed on his chocolate face. He squatted and hid his face.

"Cloud…"

Cloud sighed and rose up. Instantly reviving from his demise, "So, Moonlight."

He snuggled with Moonlight. "Did you truly observe?"

Moonlight pulled back. "Yes, owl-eyes, rabbit face—

"Not that one, the thing I used as a rope."

"Oh, the oka tree. They attack adventurers when they let their guard down. Their mostly harmless except you're vulnerable."

"Their mostly harmless…Be straight!"

Moonlight gave a shocked reaction.

"Hmm…" Cloud rearranged himself. "They attacked when they thought we let our guard down in the chase. And those Rowls attacked when they were at a safe distance."

Cloud walked roundabout Moonlight, feeling his chin.

"If I'm correct, time does not seem to have passed." He glanced at the distance they crossed. "No way...did I just hit a jackpot?"

"A jack…"

"Moonlight let's go. It seems we have enough time. That light is still shining bright enough."

Moonlight nods and prepares to follow, but turns back and scratches his head. Why did he look there?

The more they moved; the more repetitive sights they encountered. Uneven trees with changing texture, size and shape; the forest left no trail as the brothers swallowed their spit.

Their courage soared in the wrong places and right now, at the wrong time. Despite the chaos they created, the rowls did not seem to back down. During this one minute, the rowls reigned supreme.

With their body evolved for speed and detection, making mistakes was hardly impossible to find. But, now that advantage proved no advances in their attacks. The speed at which the brothers flung at them far surpassed their thinking speed.

Still, they did not waver. Changing formations once more, they separated into the shadows and were so connected one could say a mountain was in pursuit.

A terrifying fact is that all these time they made little to no sound as they changed formation. Leaving the ground aside, they used their dominant side which was the sky.

The land ahead of the brothers remained unchanged. Unending trees, a straight-crooked leading to who knows where. Seems chance of escaping is low.

However, the brothers showed no sign of distress, pain and fear. In all honesty, they were cheerful and careful.

Just then, a loud rumble shook the ground.

The duo stopped.

"What?!" said Cloud.

In a straight line, cracks took over: separating the ground, trees and all creatures apart. The brothers did partake in this change as they were being pulled.

Moonlight fell.

Cloud stayed. "....."
