Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: News of Vander

Gazing at Jinx, whose mental state was starting to become unstable again, Faen raised an eyebrow. He wasn't much affected by it, simply reaching out his hand and saying, "I know you're anxious, but no matter how hurried you are, you're no match for me. So, just calm down first."

Hearing Faen's words, the corners of Jinx's mouth twitched violently. She stared deathly at Faen's calm face, her crimson eyes filled with a pathological madness, as if she might swallow him alive the next moment.

But in the very next instant, accompanied by a deep breath, Jinx quickly regained her composure. After a long silence, she pulled at the corner of her mouth, quietly lowered her head, and said, "Sorry. I can't control myself."

"I understand," Faen said, extending a finger to separate a trace of blood plasma, then unhurriedly delivering it to Jinx's face.

Seeing this, Jinx showed no concern at all, directly and decisively swallowing it into her mouth. Her entire state improved visibly to the naked eye almost as soon as the Joy Factor entered her system.

The moment the high-concentration plasma exploded on the tip of Jinx's tongue, the Loose Cannon of the Undercity widened her eyes. It was no longer a gentle emotional soothing, but a violent, scorching, and aggressively domineering demonic power that rushed down her throat and straight to her brain.

"Ngh... ah... hah!" Jinx let out a moan that was sweet to the point of being twisted, her originally pale face instantly flushed with an eerie, sickly hue.

Under the frantic washing of the Joy Factor, Jinx felt her shattered nerve endings trembling and cheering. Beneath her thin tank top, her two nipples hardened and engorged at a speed visible to the eye under everyone's gaze, poking out into obvious bumps. Even more uncontrollable was her reaction as her long legs, wrapped in tattered stockings, involuntarily scissored together and rubbed frantically. Because this "Joy" acted directly upon the source of life, her under-cultivated private parts instantly burst their banks. Scalding, sticky love juices erupted like a broken dam, soaking a large patch of the crotch of her tight hot pants and emitting a thick, lewd scent of gunpowder mixed with female musk.

Jinx no longer cared about her image. Like a female cat in heat, she gripped Faen's muscular forearm with both hands, her body restlessly rubbing against him. Her dazed crimson eyes completely lost focus, dilating into heart shapes, while her petite body spasmed in waves of extreme physiological pleasure. Fine green electric arcs even shot out from the tips of her hair due to her intense mental arousal.

This display of extreme lewdness in front of her foster father, Silco, made Jinx feel shame, but she was even more thoroughly drowned by the flood of ecstasy. She greedily inhaled the masculine scent emanating from Faen, her throat constantly overflowing with whimpers of desire, begging to be treated even more roughly. Her entire being was nearly drowned in this abyss of bliss named "Ashlesh."

This caught the attention of Sievika, who was standing to the side.

Sievika's attitude toward Jinx had always been complex. As Silco's enforcer, Sievika had effectively helped Silco suppress many opposing forces in Zaun, manage the Shimmer trade, and even participate in conspiracies against Piltover. However, Silco's excessive focus on Jinx had always bothered Sievika. At this point in the timeline, the direct conflict between Jinx and Vi had not yet occurred.

To Sievika, when Jinx went missing, Silco's demand to overturn all of Zaun to find her proved that he had completely deviated from the original intent of overthrowing Vander's rule. She felt he had become weak, easily swayed by personal feelings. Yet, Sievika had to admit the powerful talent Jinx possessed due to her unique mental state. Whether it was Chemtech or Hextech, in Jinx's hands, everything became a weapon of massive destruction.

This made it difficult for Sievika to face Jinx with a normal mindset. There was no denying Jinx's extreme talent, but her mental issues made her hard to trust. If there were one person who could tame Jinx...

Thinking this, Sievika glanced at Silco.

Sensing the surprise, joy, and obscure complexity in Silco's eyes, it was clear that Silco had noticed it as well. But now was not the time to discuss such things.

With those thoughts in mind, everyone turned their gaze back to Faen.

Faen spoke, "Do you all truly understand Shimmer?"

"..." The group fell into silence. They only used it; they didn't understand it.

Not surprised by this, Faen simply said calmly, "To you, Shimmer might seem like a pure technological product, unrelated to magic. But in reality, Shimmer itself is a form of magic. It is the spiritual manifestation of life force from the material realm. You can understand it as materialized vitality."

"This is why, after injecting Shimmer, even a scrawny weakling can topple a giant. However, this vitality naturally possesses the wild essence of life itself. Therefore, anyone whose willpower is not strong enough will be influenced by that will, turning into a coward who lives in constant fear the moment they lose access to Shimmer."

"What does this have to do with Singed?" Silco asked, puzzled. "That arms dealer."

Silco didn't care what Shimmer actually was. To him, a tool only needed to be useful; anything else was just empty talk.

Seeing this, Faen explained, "Singed has a daughter named Orianna. Due to a congenital disease, she was on the verge of death. Before she died, Singed sealed her into a life-support pod, fixing her life at its final moment, and has been constantly searching for a way to save her."

Silco froze for a moment, then subconsciously said, "So... Shimmer?"

"Yes, Shimmer's vitality caught Singed's attention." Faen nodded. He noticed Silco visibly stunned upon learning Singed did this for his daughter—likely the unique empathy shared between old fathers.

It wasn't just Silco; even Zeri, Jinx, and the others showed more or less surprise in their gazes after learning Singed's goal was to save his daughter.

In the eyes of those who knew Singed, he was an arms dealer with no bottom line. For money and resources, there was almost nothing Singed wouldn't dare to do. No matter how harsh the client's demands, as long as the reward was sufficient, Singed would do his best to complete it, regardless of the casualties involved.

But that is human nature. When one learns that a person's many evil deeds are actually for their own child, that beauty of paternal love makes people feel there is a cause, leaving them feeling helpless.

"Wait." Suddenly, Jinx froze, then said through gritted teeth, "So, he took Vander's body in order to..."

"Yes, human experimentation." Faen nodded, confirming the suspicion in Jinx's heart.

"Vander's physical constitution far exceeds that of an ordinary person. At the same time, he possesses extremely tenacious willpower and an obsession he refused to forget even in death—his love for his family. Since Vander had not completely died when he was sent to Singed, he became the most ideal experimental subject for Singed."

Saying this, Faen thought for a moment and added, "Of course, this doesn't mean Vander is currently alive. The birth and death of life is a complex process. The souls of all the dead on the continent of Valoran are guided by the Wolf and the Lamb, embarking on the path to the afterlife. During this process, some individuals with firm, powerful, or mad wills can refuse the guidance of these masked emissaries. However, bringing them back to the material realm also involves immense risk."

According to the timeline, it would take at least a few more years for Vander to complete his resurrection. And even in the early stages of resurrection, he would still be a killing machine acting purely on instinct, without self-awareness.

But as luck would have it—

"I also have some unique insights regarding the spirit realm," Faen said. "I only need to find Vander's body while it still possesses vitality. I can then pull his lost soul back into his body by activating the beautiful memories remaining within his flesh."

Hearing Faen's words, Jinx fell into a brief silence, then turned her gaze toward Silco, "Where is Singed?"

In a sense, Jinx's reaction was somewhat cold. Over the past years, Silco might have initially felt a shared destiny with Jinx because she had lost all her family, and wanted to train her as a killing weapon. But in practice, Silco had unknowingly come to view Jinx as his true family.

Now that there was hope for Vander's return, Jinx's reaction was so direct... yet Silco's face showed no extra emotion. For even to Silco, killing Vander was one of the greatest regrets of his life—especially after Vander's death, having personally witnessed the gap between Piltover and Zaun, Silco quickly understood the kind of pressure Vander had been carrying while dragging Zaun forward.

The most ridiculous part was that Vander had given everything for Zaun, yet in the end, he was killed by Zaun's own people. Before his death, countless people viewed Vander as a gutless coward. Only in the end did people realize that Vander had been right.

And now...

"I don't know," Silco said, shaking his head. "Singed disappeared over a year ago. My guess is that he raised enough funds and started a new round of research. He won't come out until that research is finished."

Hearing this, Jinx frowned unwillingly, "You don't even know where his base is?!"

"No one knows." Without even waiting for Silco to answer, Sievika spoke up with her arms crossed. "Singed is incredibly cunning and never trusts anyone. For every experiment, he moves to a different area to find a new secret base. I doubt even that guy knows how many secret bases he has. Unless he comes out voluntarily, no one can find him."

Looking at the group trapped in a deadlock again, Zeri tilted her head and asked curiously, "Why don't you all just ask the amazing Faen?"

Everyone froze, then they all looked toward Faen in unison.

"I know," Faen said, shrugging.

Sensing everyone's gazes, Faen said with a casual face, "In Zaun, as long as there is a place where the wind blows, nothing can escape Janna's eyes."

No matter the purpose of Chemtech, its use inevitably produces severe chemical pollution. Under such circumstances, whether it is a factory or a laboratory, one can save in other areas, but one cannot save on pollution discharge and ventilation systems. A single mistake could turn a laboratory into a gas chamber. Therefore, as long as Janna is willing, Zaun is full of Janna's eyes.

Hearing this, Janna nodded. She closed her eyes and remained silent for a moment. Before long, Janna reopened her eyes and summoned a bluebird, which landed on Faen's shoulder.

"If you wish to find him, pat this bird. It will lead the way."
