Chapter 1 - CLASSROOM OF THE DEATH NOTE

Chapter 1: New Transfer, Hidden Games

The morning sun barely touched the pristine hallways of Advanced Nurturing High School, yet already the air buzzed with tension. Students whispered about a new transfer student — a young man whose calm gaze and perfect posture made everyone instinctively take notice.

Kiyotaka Ayanokoji sat quietly in the back of Class 1-D, his gaze scanning the room. As always, he appeared bored, disinterested. Yet every movement, every whisper, every glance from a student was cataloged and analyzed in his mind. New transfer… hmm. Dangerous, but interesting, he thought.

The door creaked open. Heads turned. And there he was: Light Yagami, flawless uniform, sharp eyes, and an aura of control that immediately drew attention.

"Good morning," Light said, his voice calm yet commanding. Every student in the room instinctively straightened. Noticing the subtle shifts in body language, Kiyotaka smirked ever so slightly. He's used to being obeyed. Typical.

First Impressions

During roll call, Light introduced himself formally, speaking as if the school already belonged to him. His charm was immediate, drawing admiration and cautious fear from classmates.

Kiyotaka analyzed him silently:

Personality: Charismatic, manipulative tendencies obvious.

Intelligence: Top-tier. Can plan several steps ahead.

Hidden factor: A presence of lethal intent — the kind you can't measure by test scores alone.

Meanwhile, a peculiar figure sat crouched on a chair near the back of the room — L. His messy hair, hunched posture, and unwavering stare were unnerving to anyone who noticed him. Only Kiyotaka seemed to take note, recognizing instinctively that this was no ordinary observer.

The Subtle Game Begins

Lunch break. Light casually dropped philosophical hints: "People who break the rules… shouldn't deserve to live in a world that values justice." The room went quiet. Some students nodded nervously, others shrugged. Kiyotaka's mind raced: Justice? That's a dangerous word in the wrong hands…

L, crouched in his corner, muttered under his breath: "Interesting. I need to watch him closely."

Kiyotaka, for his part, remained calm. He observed Light's interactions, predicting his manipulations before they even happened. If he tries anything here… I can stop him before anyone notices.

A Dangerous Lunch

As students left for the next class, Light lingered near Kiyotaka, pretending to accidentally drop a notebook. Kiyotaka glanced at it and noticed it was blank — nothing unusual, but the way Light watched reactions told him everything.

So he's testing the waters, Kiyotaka thought. Good. Let's see how far he can play this game before he realizes who's actually in control.

Across the hall, L shifted slightly, eyes never leaving Light. The way he manipulates others… clever, but not infallible.

And so, in the quiet corridors of Advanced Nurturing High School, three minds — Kiyotaka, Light, and L — began a silent, invisible battle. No one else could see it… but the game had begun.
