Adelyn was still in the cab, stuck in traffic. She sighed as she looked at the endless line of vehicles ahead of them.
Over the years, some things still hadn't changed in Ashvale. And traffic was one of them.
Feeling tired, she leaned back against the seat and closed her eyes, trying to rest. However, just then, her phone rang.
Without checking the caller ID, she answered, "Yes, grandson. Tell me. Did you prepare the dinner?"
"Long ago," Nigel replied from the other end. "How much longer will it take you to get back home?"
"I suppose … another hour."
"You aren't serious." Nigel's voice shot up instantly.
Adelyn pulled the phone slightly away from her ear, squeezing her eyes shut.
"You made me carry everything home alone, arrange it all in your kitchen, and now you also expect me to keep waiting too? Adelyn Grace, what exactly do you take me for?"
"My grandson, of course," she replied calmly, as though she was dead serious.
