Chapter 5 - Chapter 5— Future memories(II)

[War of the worlds]

That was the name of the game that came to him.

This world was based on a game world created as a form of entertainment.

The game followed the story of Aaron Creswell, a commoner from one of the ten districts, district eight of the human federation.

Aaron's motivation through the game was quite simple. Become strong. Strong enough to protect his family, to prevent another tragedy, like what happened to his father, from happening again.

And so the game would follow his journey to getting that strong.

In his way, were many obstacles, including humans and the Inhumans, the federation's long lasting enemies.

"So this is based off Aaron's perspective huh?" Ryan muttered, as he watched the memories play out as the raw information passed through his head.

He was currently watching a fifteen, turning sixteen, year old Aaron taking the entrance exam for humanity's largest military academy run by the federation's military organisation, I.R.O.N.

The scene kept switching over and over as time was clearly passing. Surprisingly, or perhaps not, he saw himself.

At least from Aaron's point of view. And even he had to admit, he was an asshole. He frequently harassed students around both noble and commoner.

It didn't matter to him. Aaron clashed with him multiple times in an attempt to defend the students who were being bullied by him.

Until the events of today. Ryan had been bullying two students, a boy and a girl, both commoners.

It was during combat training class when it happened. Aaron, no longer able to withstand Ryan's constant harassment of students, challenged him to an official duel.

Aaron was the top student amongst the first years. The number one ranked first year and in the top forty in the entire academy including second and third years.

It was very obvious to anyone watching that fighting Aaron would be a stupid idea. Ryan didn't think so. In his arrogance, he accepted the duel and was humbled.

Throughout the entire duel, he couldn't even land more than one hit on Aaron.

Aaron's already increasing fame from being the number one first year, soared after that. Afterall, he defeated the heir of one of the great families.

Many guilds began taking note of him and were approaching him behind the scenes. Aaron's life became generally enjoyable at that point.

His family was being cared for by the Federal government and the heads of I.R.O.N, so he didn't have to worry about them being targeted by Ryan.

Then as time passed, a rumor spread around that Ryan had been disowned by the Ainsworth family.

Ryan's main backing had abandoned him, coupled with the fact he didn't possess a gift, and his level cap wasn't as high as one would expect from someone of noble heritage, and he was inept in combat.

All this meant he was now easy picking. The bully had now become the bullied. With fear of retaliation from the Ainsworth family gone, most students began ganging up on Ryan.

And he disappeared after a few days of the rumour's spread.

"Oi, oi, oi." Ryan muttered, his expression turning grim. "This is what my future entails? Don't fuck with me. Like hell I'll vanish into obscurity just like that." Ryan declared while clenching his fists tightly.

Time moved on, and a few months later, the academy's yearly tournament against other academies in District 1 began.

The tournament went on as it did normally until the last day when the inhumans attacked the venue.

And shockingly with them, Ryan saw himself. He, who had disappeared months ago, was with the inhumans attacking the students around.

A massive fight broke out as all the gifted on ground scrambled to fight off the inhuman incursion.

At the end of it all, the inhumans retreated, seemingly having achieved their goals. In their wake, were countless dead students and instructors, as well as other gifted from different guilds.

And laying on the ground, Ryan saw his dying future self, a blade pierced through his chest as he writhed in agony and finally died.

And then, time skipped again. This time years passed. Aaron grew at a rapid pace thanks to different artifacts and other materials he had either consumed or equipped back at the academy.

He had now formed his own guild, built a trade network for the sales of monster crystals and many other things.

All in all, Aaron was rich. But everything wasn't as rosy as he would like. The war against the inhumans intensified day by day.

Every attempt by the Federal government to sue for peace fell on deaf ears and it didn't take long before the inhumans declared another full blown war on humanity.

Time skipped ahead again. War had broken out and both the inhumans and humans dealt each other major blows at different intervals.

Cities were wiped off the face of the earth. Bloodlines erased, friends and families killed and Aaron was no exception to that.

Currently, he was kneeling on the ground, a girl who looked to be around fifteen years old, lay dead in his arms.

She looked like the female younger version of Aaron.

'His sister huh.' Ryan thought as he felt the information flow through him. Along with the information, was Aaron's feelings.

Despair, and rage.

Their hometown had just been destroyed by inhuman soldiers led by the abyssal king of greed, Aaron's arch nemesis.

At least he was now.

In the months following his sister's death, Aaron driven by grief, focused solely on the battlefield, fighting the inhumans with intense drive.

He and his guild took personal grievance in the war as they covered the costs of their expeditions themselves.

Aaron himself within those months killed the abyssal king of greed and now just killed the abyssal queen of sloth.

Of course, doing all that without rest was tiring and it soon caught up with him and his guild members as many of them became casualties in Aaron's personal grief war with the inhumans.

And it didn't take long for Aaron to lose people close to him in this terrible war.

The war that had been going smoothly for humanity, suddenly turned on its head as four beings that called themselves the 'horsemen of the apocalypse' awakened.

These beings possessed strength on an entirely different level and easily overwhelmed humanity's strongest warriors.

Soon entire districts fell to their might, and by the time their monarch awakened, humanity's population had reduced by seventy percent.
