Kaien wandered around the street for a long time but still couldn't find Kurenai Yuhi anywhere.
How was he supposed to find her like this?
"Kaien!" At that moment, a familiar voice came from behind him.
Kaien turned around and saw Temari walking toward him, carrying several bags.
"Sister Temari!" Kaien called out. He quickly went over, took the items from her hands, and said, "Let me carry these for you."
"It's fine, they're not heavy," Temari said, waving her hand.
"It's okay, just let me do it," Kaien insisted, already taking them from her.
Seeing his persistence, Temari nodded. "Alright then, I'll trouble you."
"By the way, who are you looking for?" Temari asked curiously. "I saw you looking around for quite a while."
"Nothing," Kaien said casually. "Didn't Brother Naruto tell us to stay alert and watch out for strangers? I was just looking around."
"You don't need to worry too much," Temari said reassuringly. "The defenses of Konoha are very strict. It's not that easy for outsiders to get in."
Then she suddenly asked, "By the way, what have you been busy with these past few days? Why haven't you come to our place for dinner?"
"These past few days, my Mother has been keeping me at home and wouldn't let me go out," Kaien scratched his head awkwardly, once again letting Kushina Uzumaki take the blame.
"Is that so?" Temari nodded gently. She bit her red lips, as if wanting to say something more, but ultimately held back.
"Sister Temari, where are you headed?" Kaien asked, glancing at the things he was carrying. "You bought so much—are you visiting someone?"
"I'm going to Teacher Kurenai Yuhi's house," Temari explained with a smile. "Shikamaru Nara has been busy lately, so he asked me to help visit her."
"Is that so?" Kaien's eyes immediately lit up.
He had been worrying about how to find Kurenai Yuhi, and now Temari was basically leading him straight there.
The two walked toward Kurenai Yuhi's house together. Along the way, Temari seemed like she wanted to say something several times but kept hesitating.
Soon, they arrived at Kurenai Yuhi's doorstep.
Ding-dong!
Temari rang the doorbell.
"Coming!" A voice sounded from inside.
As the door opened, Kurenai Yuhi appeared before Kaien.
Her dark, wavy hair naturally draped over her shoulders, giving her a mature and gentle charm.
Her red eyes carried a hint of allure, and the loose orange-red house dress she wore couldn't hide her full, fair, and slender legs.
"Teacher Kurenai," Temari greeted respectfully.
"Teacher Kurenai," Kaien quickly followed, snapping out of his daze.
"Temari, you and Shikamaru are already so busy. There's really no need to come over so often," Kurenai Yuhi said warmly as she invited them inside.
Then she looked at Kaien with curiosity. "And this is…?"
"I'm Kaien," he introduced himself. "Kushina is my Mother."
"Oh, it's Kaien," Kurenai Yuhi said as she suddenly remembered. "You've grown quite a bit."
She led Temari and Kaien into the living room and asked, "How is Aunt Kushina's health? Is she doing well?"
The generational relationship between them was actually rather complicated. Kurenai Yuhi and Kakashi were of the same generation.
Kakashi had to call Kushina teacher's wife, so by seniority, Kurenai Yuhi should call her aunt.
But Kushina was Naruto's mother, and Kurenai Yuhi was Hinata's teacher, which made things even more confusing.
Out of respect, however, she still usually called Kushina aunt.
"Mother is in very good health, no major problems," Kaien replied with a smile.
After all, how could Kushina's body not be good after being "nourished" by him for so many days?
"That's good," Kurenai Yuhi said with a smile. "I'll visit Aunt Kushina sometime."
Kaien nodded but didn't add anything.
"By the way, Teacher Kurenai," Temari asked after looking around, "why haven't I seen Mirai? Where did she go?"
Usually, when Temari and Shikamaru came over, Mirai would run out to greet them immediately. Not seeing her now felt unusual.
"Sigh…" Kurenai Yuhi sighed helplessly.
"That girl gets overly excited whenever there's a special alert. She keeps clamoring about going on patrol. I can't stop her at all."
"Hehe, kids are like that," Temari laughed. "I was the same when I was her age."
"If she had your strength, I wouldn't be worried," Kurenai Yuhi said, shaking her head.
Temari and Kurenai Yuhi continued chatting, while Kaien sat quietly to the side without interrupting.
After all, he was mainly here today to get acquainted and complete a system mission. There was no need for him to say too much.
"Oh!" Kurenai Yuhi suddenly glanced at the time and exclaimed,
"I got so caught up chatting that I forgot the time. It's already past noon, and I haven't even started cooking."
She quickly apologized, "Temari, Kaien, stay here for lunch."
"No need, Teacher Kurenai," Temari quickly said. "I can just go back and make something myself. I don't want to trouble you."
"Don't be polite," Kurenai Yuhi replied as she walked into the kitchen. "You'd have to cook anyway, so you might as well eat here."
"Really, there's no need. I still have to deliver food to Shikamaru later."
"Then I'll cook extra, and you can bring it over after you eat," Kurenai Yuhi said from the kitchen.
Temari shook her head. "I didn't even bring his usual lunchbox. Teacher Kurenai, we'll head back first. We'll come again next time."
As she spoke, Temari stood up and pulled Kaien along.
"You two should really stay and eat," Kurenai Yuhi came out of the kitchen, looking a little helpless.
"Next time, when Shikamaru and I have time, we'll definitely come," Temari said while changing her shoes.
"Alright then, travel safely," Kurenai Yuhi said, still a bit puzzled. Temari usually wasn't this insistent about leaving.
Temari brought Kaien out and headed toward her own home.
After walking a short distance, Temari took a deep breath, bit her red lips, and looked at Kaien.
"Um… Kaien, you haven't eaten either, right?" she asked softly.
"How about you come to my place to eat?"
