We reached the training grounds. Usagi was already there, stretching with the kind of flexibility that made my spine hurt just watching. Her pink hair was pulled back in a messy ponytail. Her training clothes left very little to the imagination.
She noticed Mera immediately. Her expression shifting from anticipation to something more guarded.
"I said come alone."
"She insisted."
"I don't take orders from people I haven't slept with." Mera smiled sweetly. "Yet."
Usagi blinked. Then laughed. The sound bright and genuine.
"I like her."
"Most people do. Eventually."
"Sit on the bleachers." Usagi pointed toward the metal seating along the field's edge. "Watch. Don't interfere."
Mera's tail flicked. "I don't interfere."
"You literally opened a portal under someone during your last combat exam because they looked at you wrong."
"They were being rude."
"They sneezed."
"Rudely."
