Chapter 21 - Ch 21- Ghost

About a week later, Mahito and Kenjaku sat on the Shinkansen heading for Kyoto.

Mahito watched the scenery outside the window with boredom and asked, "Speaking of which, is it necessary to make a special trip like this? Can't you just have him come over, or can't you guys communicate by phone?"

Kenjaku replied with a smile, "That won't do. We can't establish a binding vow unless we're face-to-face. It would be very troublesome for me if our information leaked before the operation."

To the other passengers on the train, the two talking looked like Kenjaku was just talking to himself, but they didn't seem to care.

Kenjaku changed the subject and said, "However, I didn't expect you to cause such a big stir after killing Kento Nanami that day. The subsequent impact of that incident has left them quite overwhelmed lately, which has made my activities much easier."

"Then how about I kill a few more?" Mahito asked with a smile.

Kenjaku shook his head slightly, "Jujutsu Sorcerers other than Satoru Gojo, even Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerers, aren't much of a threat. Doing it too frequently might instead provoke Satoru Gojo."

Mahito appeared to be looking out the window, but in reality, he was observing Kenjaku's reaction. He wanted to confirm if Kenjaku had noticed the incident at Mount Miharayama.

In fact, before heading out with Kenjaku, Jogo had already fully recovered the Cursed Energy lost in his battle with Satoru Gojo by relying on the fermenting public opinion from the Mount Miharayama explosion.

Furthermore, as the influence of the volcano expanded over the past few days, just as Mahito had hoped, Jogo's strength slowly broke through its limit, proving that Mahito's theory and plan were correct.

Having confirmed this, all that remained was to have Jogo guide the eruption of Mount Fuji at the right time, letting a greater crisis amplify this fear.

After all, to evoke more fear of the earth than a Mount Fuji eruption, perhaps only simultaneously detonating all the volcanoes in Japan would suffice. However, implementing that plan would be much harder than detonating Mount Fuji alone; it's currently impossible.

As for the timing, Mahito planned to set it during the Exchange Event at Tokyo Jujutsu High. According to the plot development in the manga, only he and Hanami would participate in the operation this time, making it the perfect time for Jogo to do this.

He only needed to hide his intentions from Kenjaku before taking action. Once the matter successfully progressed and Jogo received the actual strength increase brought by the incident, it would be hard to hide it from Kenjaku, nor would there be much need to.

For a split second, Mahito really wanted to reach out and hit Kenjaku with an Idle Transfiguration, but he held back.

Kenjaku also noticed Mahito's gaze reflected on the glass. "What's wrong?"

"I was just thinking how cunning you are, Geto. All the things that can't be handled face-to-face have to be done by us," Mahito diverted the topic, complaining to Kenjaku.

Kenjaku laughed upon hearing this. "If you put it that way, it's true. However, for the sake of finally resolving the hidden danger that is Satoru Gojo, I'll have to trouble you all for now."

After arriving in Kyoto, it took quite some time to reach the secret base where Kokichi Muta was located.

As soon as he entered, Mahito pinched his nose and fanned his face with his other hand, complaining exaggeratedly to Kenjaku, "The musty smell is really bad. Can people really live in a place like this?"

They were greeted by a large number of puppets controlled by Kokichi Muta, with their barrels aimed squarely at Kenjaku and Mahito.

Mahito naturally didn't take these 'toys' seriously and said contemptuously, "It seems the owner here isn't very welcoming. To be safe, it's probably better to just kill him, right?"

Kenjaku calmly persuaded Mahito, "You shouldn't say that. With his ability to control these puppets, there's almost no limit to the distance. His willingness to meet us in person already shows great sincerity."

Not far away was a bathtub connected to a large number of pipes. Unknown medicinal liquid filled the bathtub from the dense, web-like pipes. Lying in that liquid was a person whose body was tightly wrapped in bandages, leaving only the mouth, nose, and eyes exposed. He was Kenjaku's target for this trip, Kokichi Muta.

Kokichi Muta slowly sat upright, but it was visible that his body trembled slightly as he made the movement.

Kokichi Muta's gaze finally landed on Mahito as he questioned Kenjaku.

"Is it him? The method you mentioned that can free me from my pain?"

Kenjaku nodded and replied, "Yes, he is the existence that can heal you."

"Prove it to me," Kokichi Muta's cold tone sounded almost like a command.

Kenjaku gave Mahito a look, and Mahito pulled out a Portable Monkey compressed to the size of a finger from his pocket. Under Kokichi Muta's gaze, he used Idle Transfiguration to restore it to human form.

This demonstration by Mahito indeed gave Kokichi Muta quite a shock.

Kenjaku introduced, "His Cursed Technique is different from the healing of the Reverse Cursed Technique; it can thoroughly heal you from the root. So, can we reach a cooperation now?"

Kokichi Muta did not agree immediately but spoke seriously, "You must agree to one more condition before I choose to cooperate with you!"

"What a headache. Do you take us for Santa Claus?"

Mahito slapped both hands onto the Transfigured Human that had just been restored to human form. The Transfigured Human suddenly made a combat move, making no secret of his dissatisfaction with Kokichi Muta, making himself seem more like someone who didn't know the future plot.

"Don't be in a hurry. Let's see what his request is."

Kenjaku remained calm as usual. After all, among the two Jujutsu Highs, no one but Kokichi Muta possessed such suitable trading conditions, having the weakness of a natural defect brought by a Heavenly Restriction.

"I want you to make a binding vow not to attack the Jujutsu Sorcerers of Kyoto Jujutsu High. Only then will I accept this deal and provide you with intelligence!"

...Kenjaku asked Mahito, "By the way, during the Exchange Event, some Curse Users I called will also participate. Want to go meet them now?"

Mahito clearly lacked interest in this.

"Curse Users? Is there a need? They won't be wearing Jujutsu High uniforms anyway, so won't they be identifiable at a glance?"

But that was just Mahito's superficial answer. In reality, Mahito planned to find an opportunity during the Exchange Event to kill the Curse Users, starting with Juzo Kumiya. After all, Curse Users are also Jujutsu Sorcerers, and it's more interesting to transform a few more Cursed Spirits.
