Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 Signals from the Unknown

Arc 2 – Shadows of the Beyond

Elysium Colony had barely settled into the calm after the storm when a new signal flickered across the Argonaut's long-range scanners. It wasn't like the Vagan attacks—there was no aggression in the transmission, only… precision. Clean, calculated, and unmistakably artificial.

Leon Hartmann leaned forward, eyes narrowing. "What is that? It doesn't match any known Vagan signatures."

Mira Solenne's Valkyrie thrusters flared slightly as she approached the scanner console. "It's not just a signal. It's… coordinates. From outside our sector. Far beyond the usual patrol routes. And it's encrypted—high-level military encryption, not civilian."

Rika Hartmann crossed her arms, frowning. "Could it be a trap? After the ace's defeat, the enemy might be baiting us into something bigger."

Rolf Brenner's voice came over the comms, calm but sharp. "Treat it as unknown until proven otherwise. Run a full analysis. This may be unrelated to the Vagan, but do not underestimate its potential. The universe contains threats that go far beyond even the ace pilot you just defeated."

Leon's hands hovered over the controls, mind racing. "Unknown signals, high-level encryption, and coordinates outside our sector… Something—or someone—is reaching out. And they want us to follow."

Mira's eyes glimmered. "It could be a trap. Or… an opportunity. If it's from a human faction, we might be looking at allies… or rivals."

Rika's expression hardened. "We can't ignore it. We need to know what's out there. But we also need to be prepared for anything. The ace taught us that."

The Argonaut shifted orbit, adjusting thrusters to align with the mysterious coordinates. The colony below continued its recovery, oblivious to the unknown danger—or promise—that lurked in deep space.

Leon took a deep breath, feeling the familiar tension in his chest. "Trident," he said firmly, "we've survived impossible odds before. Whatever awaits us out there, we face it together. We adapt, we fight, and we protect what matters. Let's see who—or what—is sending these signals."

Valkyrie and Bastion's engines hummed in agreement, a subtle acknowledgment that the team was ready for whatever the next arc would bring.

Outside the Argonaut, the void stretched endlessly, stars glittering like distant eyes. And somewhere beyond known space, a shadow stirred—a new threat, observing, calculating, and preparing to challenge the Trident like never before.

Leon's jaw tightened. "We'll find them. And we'll be ready."
