The demon she was teaching was the third son of the Demon Lord, the very one who had successfully captured the kingdom Ravenmark.
The Demon lord has put his 3rd son as the ruler of the kingdom Ravenmark, some humans who couldn't escape were kept under the demons, the kingdom remains as it was, humans lived in the kingdom.
The demons were only added as soldiers of the kingdom and the previous king of Ravenmark is assigned as an adviser to the 3rd son of demon Lord.

Ren after getting a chance attacks on Cain, the protective shield casted on Cain is broken, as the shield broke Cain stumble
Ren casted another deadly spell to finish Cain off, Erie blocked her attack.
Ren is confused, she asks Erie why is she protecting a demon, these beings should die they earned death. Erie tells Ren if they free the kingdom from these demons the Demon Lord will kill every human who is living in this kingdom.
Demon being naturally strong and eat flesh have never farmed foods and never get to know how to cook, one day the Demon Lord
was defeated running for his life, he entered a village, there he gets to know the taste of food, it was long ago since then he considered human being usefull and can provide the same food.
He allowed humans to live and provide with the same food and resources that they cook, gather or farm, in exchange of living a free life just like normal kingdom. And not to oppose him or fight back to claim the kingdom Ravenmark.
Ren in total disbelief, she tells Erie how she have killed alot of demons already they have to escape the Kingdom, and if possible take the humans along with them.
Cain tells the truth the Demon Lord is going to make a Sacrifice of the peoples of this kingdom, the story of getting to taste delicious food to keep humans alive all was lie.
Cain tries to transform into his Demonic form, before that Ren killed him the moment Cain died Demon Lord notice it, Erie now decided to escape the kingdom along with all the humans and successfully Flee away from the kingdom.
