Chapter 190 - Chapter 190: The Skirmish

Inside the underground Autobot base on the dark side of Hecate, the heavy blast doors hissed open.

Silverbolt stepped out of the communications array, his optics sweeping across the waiting crowd of Autobots.

"Did Optimus offer any tactical solutions?" Hound asked first, rolling his metallic cigar across his grill plates.

No one truly knew what alloy that cigar was forged from, as it never seemed to shorten no matter how much he drew from it.

"Optimus has commanded us to execute an immediate evacuation of Cybertron to prevent any further pointless casualties."

"Wheeljack has successfully restored the Ark's primary flight systems, allowing us to utilize the dreadnought to regroup with the Prime."

Silverbolt hesitated for a brief moment before delivering the final calculation that many of them dreaded to hear.

Following his direct consultation with Optimus, they had agreed to permanently abandon their home world.

Leaving the cradle of their species was a bitter calculation for any warrior, but the modern Decepticon vanguard was entirely unstoppable.

With the Prime currently locked down on Earth, this evacuation protocol was their solitary survival vector.

"Abandon Cybertron for a foreign world?"

The gathered Autobots exchanged quiet glances, a heavy silence settling across the command deck.

Some felt a wave of relief, while others harbored deep resentment at the thought of retreating.

Yet regardless of their individual calculations, every bot understood that this was their only logical option.

"Commence packing procedures immediately; the Decepticons could intercept our coordinates at any..."

"Critical update, Commander!"

An Autobot runner burst into the chamber, his internal cooling fans screaming with panic.

"Blaster just transmitted an emergency signal: Decepticon scouts have landed on Hecate and have engaged the Stereo Force!"

"What? The Decepticons are on the moon?"

An immediate uproar fractured the fragile quiet of the underground base.

"I'll go scrap those rust-buckets myself!" Hound growled, completely ignoring his cigar as he ripped his heavy Gatling blaster from his waist mount.

"Hold your position," Silverbolt said, extending an arm to block Hound while keeping his voice perfectly level.

"What is the total active strength of the enemy detachment, and what are Blaster's exact coordinates?"

He needed to determine whether they were facing a minor scouting team or the full vanguard of Shockwave's legion.

"Sector Five," the runner reported immediately.

"Blaster's tracking data shows only five members of the Decepticon Cassette Division; there is no sign of the main fleet yet, though reinforcements are likely en route."

"Understood," Silverbolt nodded, turning his optics back toward Hound.

"Hound, you and Wheeljack proceed to the drydocks immediately to fire up the Ark's ignition matrices."

"Your ground configuration is too slow for a rapid rescue loop; I will lead the Aerialbots to extract the Stereo Force."

"Shockwave's heavy reinforcements are mathematically guaranteed to be en route; we are completely out of time."

"Copy that," Hound agreed, clamping the metallic cigar firmly back between his dental grates.

"Leave the Ark to Wheeljack and me; secure our scouts and move fast."

Sector Five.

Across the desolate badlands, Laserbeak's emergency signal had successfully rallied the remaining members of the Cassette Division to the coordinates.

"Impressive tracking, Laserbeak; it appears you have cornered a massive prize," Ratbat hissed, circling close to his airborne colleague.

The Autobot Stereo Force served as the absolute eyes and ears of the resistance network.

Terminating them would leave the remaining Autobots functionally blind and deaf across the system.

Securing an execution of this scale carried far more political weight than filtering through routine encryption logs.

Laserbeak didn't let the praise alter his calculations, knowing that only a confirmed termination would secure Soundwave's favor.

Flagging a high-value asset only to let them slip through the grid would net him nothing but a severe reprimand from their master.

"I have already transmitted our telemetry to Lord Shockwave, but his logic parameters require absolute verification of the main Autobot sanctuary before he deploys a heavy vanguard."

Laserbeak's vocalizers clicked with a hint of irritation.

"You know his style; Shockwave refuses to waste fuel reserves on unverified variables."

"Why did you bypass Commander Skygnaw's network?" Ratbat asked suddenly.

"What?" Laserbeak paused, his optic sensors cycling. "Commander Skygnaw?"

"I held zero contact with Skygnaw's grid," Laserbeak muttered, shaking his avian head.

"Before our master departed for Earth, did he not explicitly command our division to route all intelligence exclusively through Shockwave's logistics network?"

"Your calculation is accurate," Ratbat replied, studying his companion for a long moment before dropping the subject.

While the airborne scouts exchanged data, a chaotic skirmish was raging across the metallic terrain below.

Rumble and the mechanical beasts were locked in a fierce, close-quarters melee against Blaster's cell.

As the primary black-ops units of their respective factions, the two teams had clashed across uncounted cycles; they were ancient rivals.

"Witness my tactical vanguard assault!" Eject barked, masking a blatant blind-side ambush with an aggressive battle cry.

He brought his rifle online, snapping a direct round straight into Slugfest's exposed rear armor.

BANG!

ROAR!

Slugfest, whose processing core was already severely glitched, let out a statistics-breaking screech of pure agony.

He entered a state of complete mania, charging wildly toward Steeljaw.

His broken cognitive subroutines immediately calculated that the mechanical lion standing before him was the source of the damage.

Steeljaw executed a flawless lateral leap, easily evading the clumsy trajectory of the rampaging dinosaur.

ROAR!

Missing the target didn't halt the beast's aggression; his remaining combat programming forced his frame to pivot, aligning his dual vibration cannons onto the lion.

BOOM!

The atmospheric pressure distorted violently as a localized, invisible shockwave tore through the air at near-sonic speeds.

Yet Steeljaw's superior reflexes allowed him to smoothly clear the vector once again.

While Steeljaw systematically toyed with the broken Stegosaurus, Blaster and his Mini-Cons were facing a far more severe threat.

Rumble and Overkill possessed fully functional combat programming, utilizing a highly coordinated assault to push the Autobots to the brink of collapse.

Every time Rumble slammed his heavy pile-drivers into the ground, the resulting shockwaves left Blaster's team struggling to maintain their footing.

Overkill, entirely unaffected by the seismic distortions, would instantly charge forward with his massive jaws open wide.

In contrast to standard bipedal mechanoids, Overkill's primary weapon matrix was integrated straight into his dental array.

His rows of razor-sharp titanium teeth could effortlessly tear through the reinforced armor plates of an ordinary Autobot infantryman.

Although his shoulders were kitted with heat-seeking missile pods, the mechanical Tyrannosaurus preferred the tactile feedback of crushing metal between his teeth.

His ordnance was typically reserved to swat fast-moving targets or aerial scouts out of the sky before he closed the distance to finish them.

SNAP!

The metallic jaws slammed shut with a violent click, leaving Rewind staring in absolute terror at the razor teeth that had missed his helm by a fraction of an inch.

He had nearly been permanently disassembled.

"Rumble, deliver another shockwave!" Overkill roared, shaking his massive head to clear the disorientation of the missed bite.

"Hold your processors!" Rumble snapped back in irritation.

Did that oversized lizard assume his kinetic pile-drivers operated without an energy drain like common scrap-rats?

He required a set duration to recharge his internal capacitors, after all.

The moment Rumble's systems verified a full charge, the devastating loop repeated itself.

Rewind and Eject fired their rifles continuously, but their low-caliber rounds did nothing but scratch Overkill's heavy hide plating.

The Autobots were entirely unable to contest those savage jaws, forced into a desperate retreat across the craters.

It created a bizarre choreography: Overkill chased Blaster's crew, while Rumble hurried behind the dinosaur to drop regular shockwaves along the path.

This chaotic display was the exact reason why Laserbeak and Ratbat remained safely in the air, choosing to play the role of spectators.

Beyond their limited combat specifications, they calculated that the three ground units possessed more than enough power to systematically reduce the Autobots to scrap.

It was simply a matter of allowing the math enough time to conclude.

Just as Blaster's crew was pushed to their absolute limits, several Cybertronian starfighters suddenly streaked across the horizon.

"Alert! Autobot air reinforcements have entered the grid!"

Laserbeak's optic sensors registered the threat profiles, and without a single millisecond of hesitation, he executed a sharp bank and fled the sector.

Ratbat matched the maneuver instantly, abandoning the airspace right behind him.

Their sudden retreat left the three ground units completely exposed to an aerial slaughter.

Overkill was still driving forward in a manic sprint when a high-velocity missile dropped out of the clouds, tracking straight into his flank.

BOOM!

The violent detonation lifted the mechanical dinosaur off his feet, hurling his heavy frame across the dirt where he lay motionless, his status indicators flashing grey.

Sensing an immediate turn in the variables, Rumble stole a quick glance at the sky and initiated a full retreat.

He didn't even waste processing power trying to warn Slugfest, knowing the glitched beast was completely beyond logic.

Yet his escape vector was closed from the very start.

The airborne scouts had the altitude to clear the grid before the interceptors arrived, but the Aerialbots were already holding absolute dominance directly above his head.

The barren wasteland offered zero structural cover or geographic obstructions to break line of sight.

Lacking an alternate flight mode, Rumble managed only a few desperate strides before the shadows of the jets enveloped his position.

BANG!

Fireflight unleashed his photon-disruptor cannon, the energy blast warping the localized light waves around Rumble's sensor arrays, plunging the operative into a total sensory blackout.

"Ah! Clear the vector! Get back!"

Stripped of his visual diagnostics, Rumble swung his pile-drivers in a panicked frenzy, his heavy blows hitting nothing but empty air.

Across the other side of the cratered plain, Slugfest was still single-mindedly charging at Steeljaw when Slingshot and Skydive dropped into a coordinated strafing run.

True to his reputation, Slingshot's targeting matrices operated with flawless accuracy, whether utilizing his twin mounted cannons or his handheld neutron rifle.

A sharp burst erupted from his lower hull weapon systems, the kinetic impact dropping the mechanical Stegosaurus straight onto the metallic soil.

Before the beast could reset his gyros, Skydive swept through the vector, deploying a cluster of laser-guided ordnance that completely blew Slugfest to pieces.

The sudden intervention of the Aerialbots had brought the desperate skirmish to an immediate, decisive conclusion.

"Silverbolt, my core filters are grateful for your arrival," Blaster said, checking his Mini-Cons to verify their systems were stable before approaching the commander.

The weight of his earlier intelligence error still weighed heavily on his processors, but the reality on the ground required immediate action.

Silverbolt stood over Overkill's fallen frame, driving a heavy, cone-shaped implement straight through the dinosaur's primary neural link to pin him to the floor.

The weapon was his specialized lightning-rod blaster, capable of discharging over one hundred thousand volts of raw electrical energy in a melee clash or serving as long-range artillery in flight configuration.

He chose not to allocate any resources to hunt down the two airborne spies who had fled the airspace before their arrival.

Securing the Stereo Force and executing an immediate departure from Cybertron was the only calculation that mattered now.
