"Heh heh heh… You figured it out that fast, Yugi?" Bakura's smile twisted. A moment later, the Millennium Ring manifested over his chest as if pulled from the air itself.
Anzu's breath caught. "Bakura looks… wrong. That doesn't feel like him."
"That isn't Bakura," Kisaragi said, eyes narrowing. "Back on Duelist Kingdom, remember when you all blacked out for a while? That was the dark personality inside the Millennium Ring at work."
"So this time… will Yugi be in danger?" Anzu asked, voice tight.
"He should be fine," Kisaragi replied. "He's not the type to be suppressed in a straight duel—and he has a God Card in hand. Trust him."
"A God Card…?" Anzu echoed.
Kisaragi nodded once. "Yeah. I won't say more. Just believe in him. Up to now, no duelist has been able to truly keep him pinned down."
Jounouchi scratched his cheek. "You're one to talk. You beat him before."
Kisaragi laughed. "That was a narrow win. This one… won't be that simple."
Kaiba folded his arms. "If I get the chance, I'll defeat him."
Isono's voice rang out across the deck.
"Elimination Match One—Mutou Yugi vs. Bakura—begin!"

Dark Bakura lifted his hand with theatrical flair. "Yugi, I'll take the first move!"
"My turn. Draw!"
He immediately slammed down a spell.
"I activate Graceful Charity! I draw three cards, then discard two!"
Yami Yugi's eyes sharpened.
Hand cycling… He's not just digging—he's setting the graveyard. What is he trying to assemble?
Ever since witnessing Kisaragi's duels, Yami Yugi's mind had become a machine—every action, every timing window, every hidden objective. He couldn't not analyze.
Dark Bakura continued.
"Next, I activate Dark Occultism! By discarding one card, I can add to my hand either a Destiny Board or a Level 8 Fiend monster from my Deck or Graveyard!"
He smirked. "I add Dark Necrofear!"
Kisaragi's expression tightened.
Destiny Board pressure—early. And the three discards were absolutely to fuel Necrofear's summoning cost. He's accelerating harder than in canon…
Dark Bakura spread his arms.
"Now—by banishing three Fiend monsters from my Graveyard… I Special Summon Dark Necrofear from my hand!"
"Awaken, ruler of the death-world—Dark Necrofear!"
A dark crimson soul-flame whirled above his field, drifting like a living curse. It collapsed inward, forming a pitch-black pocket of space… and from it emerged a blue-skinned doll-like fiend cradling an infant-shaped puppet that shrieked with an unnatural, wet sound.

Honda recoiled. "That thing is disgusting."
"The way it was summoned… it's creepy on a fundamental level," Yami Yugi thought, staring at the monster's hollow stare.
Dark Bakura chuckled. "Yugi, my supernatural deck isn't limited to that."
He set two cards.
"I set two cards. End my turn."(Cards in hand: 1)
"My turn. Draw!"
"I discard one card to Special Summon Trickstar—no, Illusionist—Trick Magician!"(A dark-clad spellcaster with a razor-thin grin appeared.)

"And I Normal Summon Magician's Rod!"
Magician's Rod (ATK 1600 / DEF 100)
"On summon, Magician's Rod lets me add a Spell/Trap that lists Dark Magician."
Yami Yugi lifted the card he searched.
"I add Dark Magic Attack."
Honda blinked. "He summoned two monsters, but neither is stronger than Necrofear…?"
Dark Bakura sneered. "Those two scraps won't take down my Dark Necrofear!"
Yami Yugi smiled faintly. "Don't rush me, Bakura. I'm not finished."
He snapped down an Equip Spell.
"I activate Book of Secret Arts, equipping it to Trick Magician. It gains 300 ATK/DEF!"

"Now my monster's attack power exceeds Dark Necrofear."
Dark Bakura clicked his tongue, annoyed.
Jounouchi leaned forward, pumped. "Yes! Yugi, crush that nasty thing already!"
"Battle!" Yami Yugi declared. "Trick Magician, attack Dark Necrofear!"
The spellcaster lunged, the impact bursting like a flash of violet sparks—
Dark Bakura's LP barely dipped.

But Dark Bakura's smile widened as if the damage meant nothing.
"Got you right where I want you… Activate Trap—Virtual World!"
Yami Yugi's eyes narrowed. "Virtual World…?"
Kisaragi's brow creased sharply.
Here it is… the field setup.
"Virtual World lets me take a Field Spell from my Deck and either add it to my hand… or activate it immediately!"
Dark Bakura reached into his Deck, drew a card with slow, deliberate malice, and slotted it into the Field Zone.
"I activate—Dark Sanctuary!"
A black fortress rose behind him, its silhouette jagged like broken teeth. From that castle, darkness bled across the arena in waves. The sky above turned blood-red—swollen with drifting eyes and half-formed fangs that opened and closed as if tasting fear.
Shizuka shuddered.
"Th-This is terrifying…"
Jounouchi was the first to crack. He yelped and pulled Shizuka tight into his arms, trembling.
"G-Gah—don't look, Shizuka!"
"Big brother!"
Mai glared. "Jounouchi! What kind of brother shows fear in front of his sister?!"
"I can't help it! I hate this kind of stuff!!"
Dark Bakura laughed, delighted.
"Yugi—by attacking, you've triggered the opening move of the most terrifying chain in this world!"
Yami Yugi set his jaw. "Then I'll tear it apart."
He pointed with his duel disk.
"I can still attack—Magician's Rod, direct attack!"
The gem at Rod's tip flared with sickly green light—
Dark Bakura raised a finger, as if conducting an orchestra.
"Let me show you Dark Sanctuary's first power. When your monster declares an attack… I flip a coin. If it's heads, your attack is negated—and you take damage equal to half that monster's ATK!"
"What?!" Yami Yugi's eyes widened a fraction.
Dark Bakura produced a coin and flicked it high. It spun end over end in the blood-red air, glinting once—twice—then fell into his palm.
He slapped it onto the back of his hand and covered it with the other, savoring the moment.
The entire arena held its breath.
