Chapter 17 - Chapter 7 Ancient Temple

Government Operation — Devil-Class Threat

The government operation begins.

The adventurer team slowly approaches the ancient temple.

The moment it comes into view, everyone feels it.

The atmosphere is heavy.

Cold.

Oppressive.

The temple looks terrifying—like something that should never be disturbed.

One of the adventurers swallows hard and says quietly:

"This place… it's a Sixth-Danger Zone."

Everyone understands what that means.

Danger Classification System

Mysterious locations across the world are ranked by danger level.

This system is used by both Official Adventurers and Unofficial Adventurers.

The classification is as follows:

1st–2nd Danger → Low threat

3rd–4th Danger → Mid–High threat

5th–6th Danger → High threat

Among them, Sixth-Danger locations are the most feared.

They are commonly known as:

Devil-Class Threats

These places are so dangerous that even elite teams can be wiped out entirely.

Most adventurers avoid them unless the reward is enormous—or they have no choice.

Origin of the Term "Devil Class"

The term Devil-Class was not created by the government.

It was first used by Nightglass Covenant.

Travellers from Nightglass Covenant were the first to label Sixth-Danger zones as Devil-Class Threats, because:

"Only devils should live in places like these."

Later, the government learned this term through travellers and copied it for official use.

Now, it has become a universal classification.

The Mission's Reality

The government's current mission—

The hunt for Forbidden Mage Technology—

Has officially been classified as a:

Sixth-Danger Operation

Which means only one thing.

This temple is not just dangerous.

It is a Devil-Class Threat Zone.

Even veteran adventurers feel pressure standing before it.

And everyone knows the truth:

Once they enter—

There may be no way out.

Inside the Devil-Class Temple

They step inside the temple.

The moment their feet cross the ancient threshold—

A giant, echoing voice shakes the entire hall.

"GET LOST, HUMANS."

"DO NOT ENTER."

The air trembles.

Dust falls from the ceiling.

Every member freezes.

Fear spreads instantly.

Duwen Hovin swallows hard and speaks in a low, shaken voice.

"Hey… we shouldn't enter this place."

Jebrin Olkaser nods quickly.

"Yes. This isn't normal. That voice alone proves this is beyond us."

Paul Dennis clenches his fists and forces himself to stand straight.

"Don't panic.

We didn't come here to run.

We came to explore."

He takes a step forward.

"If we turn back now, this mission becomes meaningless."

Vinisus Yuna shakes her head violently.

"No—no, this is wrong.

Who comes to explore a place like this?"

Her voice trembles.

"Didn't you hear that voice?

We should retreat and report everything to the government immediately."

Silence falls.

Then—

Bilives Gouden finally speaks.

His voice is calm.

Cold.

Absolute.

"No."

Everyone turns toward him.

"We enter."

He looks at Yuna.

"Prepare your camera.

Record everything."

Yuna hesitates.

"Huh…

O-Okay."

With shaking hands, she activates the device.

Ancient Truths Revealed

They move deeper into the temple.

The walls are covered with ancient symbols, strange runes, and drawings that no one fully understands.

Some depict humans.

Some depict monsters.

Some depict rituals.

Yuna takes photo after photo.

Her heart pounds.

Then—

They see them.

Human corpses.

Lying scattered across the stone floor.

Not decayed.

Not ancient.

Fresh.

Very fresh.

Dried blood stains the ground.

No signs of struggle.

As if death came instantly.

Yuna's face turns pale.

"…These bodies…

They're not old."

Her voice breaks.

"They died recently."

Suddenly—

That mysterious voice echoes again, deeper and angrier than before.

"GET LOST."

The temple trembles.

Yuna almost drops the camera.

"W-We should leave.

Now."

Fear finally overwhelms her.

But before anyone can react—

Bilives Gouden steps forward.

He raises his head and speaks directly into the darkness.

"Who are you?"

His voice echoes through the ancient hall.

The temple falls silent.

As if something—

—or someone—

Is listening.

The Tale of Sage Melidien Oradus – The Devil-Class Temple

Suddenly, their eyes fall on something strange.

A weapon. Prototype-X.

It was an experimental artifact—clearly left behind by official Adventurers or Wardens who had attempted this mission before… and failed.

Fear grips them instantly.

If the prototype didn't work for those who came before, how could it possibly help them?

Before anyone could react, a giant figure emerges from the shadows.

"Humans! I told you to get lost!"

The sheer size of the being makes them freeze.

It cannot be… Giants are supposed to have died centuries ago.

"You didn't leave," the giant growls.

"Then I will kill you all."

Paul Dennis stumbles back.

"We need to run! Now!"

The group flees, but the giant reacts instantly.

A stone magic shoots from its hands, freezing their legs into solid rock.

Yuna screams.

Her leg stiffens.

But Bilives Gouden pushes her forward, breaking her free from the danger zone.

"Go! Run! Don't look back!"

Yuna stumbles but keeps moving.

The giant notices and lunges after her.

Bilives throws a wooden chain to restrain the giant.

It wraps around the creature, stopping it for a moment.

Yuna finally escapes, disappearing into the darkness.

The giant shatters the chains with ease and delivers a powerful kick to Bilives, sending him crashing to the ground.

He groans, injured.

The others watch in terror.

"You… you're the only one who can save us, Yuna!"

Memories of Bilives Squad

Bilives looks at his friends, their faces pale with fear.

A memory flashes through his mind.

In childhood, they were all together—Duwen, Jebrin, Paul, Vinisus, and Yuna.

Their parents were friends.

They played together.

They trained together.

They had promised to form a team when they grew older.

Bilives Squad.

Bilives always vowed:

"I will protect you all. Always."

But now, faced with a giant, he feels… powerless.

The strongest child from the past cannot protect the people he swore to protect.

Yuna is already gone.

Bilives can only watch as she runs toward help.

Yuna's Choice

Yuna sprints through the darkness to alert the government.

"There's a giant in the temple! Prototype-X failed! My team is in danger!"

The government listens.

They offer her a fortune in money to stay silent.

"No," Yuna says firmly.

"I will not take bribes. Protect my team, or I act alone."

They hesitate, realizing she is serious.

Finally, they relent.

"Fine. Take the money. But we won't help."

Yuna nods, accepting the money—not for herself, but to secure resources to protect her friends.

She flees the city and arrives at a small house in the outskirts.

Inside, an old man sits quietly, observing her.

"Grandfather, please," she pleads.

"Tell me where the Nightglass Covenant is."

The old man studies her carefully.

"Why do you need it?"

"I don't have time to explain," Yuna says, her voice trembling.

"Just give me the location."

Seeing her resolve and sadness, the grandfather sighs.

"Very well. Take this map.

It marks the 7th Office of Nightglass Covenant.

Be careful which adventurers you trust."

Yuna takes it, bowing.

"Thank you, Grandfather."

She runs off into the night.

"If I go to official Adventurers—Zeror Trav—they will waste my time with endless questions.

The government betrayed us.

To save my team, I must join an unofficial adventurer office.

There, I can act freely."

Nightglass Covenant – The Rejection

Yuna enters the Nightglass Covenant 7th Office and submits her mission.

"The temple is cursed," she explains.

"My team is trapped inside. We need urgent support."

But all the adventurers reject her request.

"Are you insane?" one says.

"That temple kills even high-rank teams. Why would we risk it for you?"

Wardens and Oracles

Meanwhile, government agents Alrick, Sali, Trent, Layla, Natan, and Lorenz discuss the Oracles.

"Do you know about Oracles?" Sali asks.

"They're powerful beyond imagination," Layla answers.

"Am I talking about you?" Lorenz asks Natan nervously.

"No! Never!" Natan stammers.

Tension rises.

Trent dares to ask Lorenz a question.

"Am I allowed—"

Snap! Lorenz's aura flares dangerously.

"You have no right to question me!" he roars.

Trent trembles.

"S-Sorry… Sir! I'm… I'm sorry!"

Gel steps forward, his calm presence cutting through the chaos.

"Enough. Stop this. They are inexperienced. Let them speak if they must. We are not here to intimidate."

Lorenz seethes but holds back.

Respect for Gel is visible in every action.

Alrick whispers, confused.

"Why do Sali and Lorenz respect Gel so much?"

Gel smiles lightly.

"You don't need to know."
