Chapter 48 - Chapter 6 The Crimson Barrier and the Assassin's Mission

Yugris remained silent.

He looked toward Sung and the other mysterious figures standing in the middle of the school.

For some reason, Sung's words continued echoing inside his mind.

"This guy really is telling us some truths..."

"But..."

"I'm not prepared to leave the city."

"The outside world is supposed to be extremely dangerous."

"What if I never come back?"

Before Yugris could say anything—

A teacher suddenly stepped forward.

"Students!"

"Don't listen to that man!"

"Don't even think about leaving the city!"

"Remember your families!"

"Remember your mothers and fathers!"

"If you disappear, your families will never be happy again!"

Buyen's expression immediately changed.

His eyes became cold.

"Disgusting."

The teacher froze.

Buyen raised his hand.

A flash of power struck the teacher, knocking him down instantly.

The students screamed.

"Teacher!"

Buyen turned toward Sung.

"Hey, Sung."

"We don't need to waste our time controlling their thoughts here."

"We can deal with that after bringing them to the academy."

"Focus on the teleportation spell."

Sung nodded.

"Hmm."

"You're right."

"Let's finish the mission."

He stepped forward.

"Everyone, prepare yourselves."

Sung began casting a spell.

Strange symbols appeared across the ground.

The entire school suddenly began shaking.

BOOOOOOM!

The buildings trembled.

Windows rattled.

Desks moved across classrooms.

Students screamed in panic.

"What is happening?!"

"The ground is moving!"

"Someone help!"

Outside the school, several police officers noticed the enormous crimson barrier.

"What's happening inside?!"

"We need to get in!"

One officer rushed toward the barrier.

The moment he touched it—

CRACK!

A violent electric shock threw him backward.

"AH!"

His fellow officers immediately stopped.

"What the hell is this?!"

"Don't touch it!"

"We don't know what this barrier does!"

More police vehicles arrived.

But before they could formulate a plan—

The entire school suddenly began disappearing.

The buildings.

The playground.

The classrooms.

The students.

Everything.

WHOOM!

In a matter of seconds, the entire school vanished from its original location.

The crimson barrier disappeared along with it.

The police stood frozen.

"..."

One officer stared at the empty ground.

"Where..."

"Where did the school go?"

Citizens began gathering around the area.

"What happened?"

"Was that an explosion?"

"Where are the students?"

"Where's the school?!"

More police arrived to control the crowd.

But nobody had an answer.

The entire Haoutaro High School had simply disappeared.

Meanwhile — North Bacast

Miyuki Hanado finally reached the location given to her by Kupo.

She stood across the street from Melvin Tower.

Her eyes slowly traveled across the enormous building.

"Hmm..."

"At least three hundred surveillance cameras..."

She narrowed her eyes.

"I expected Kimmy Leortson to have good security..."

"But this is excessive."

Miyuki sighed.

"What a pain."

She slowly walked toward the entrance.

"Time to make my hands dirty."

For Miyuki, killing someone was simply another unpleasant part of her profession.

As she approached the entrance, two security guards immediately blocked her.

"Stop."

"Who are you?"

"What is your name?"

"Who are you here to meet?"

"What is your purpose?"

Miyuki's expression remained emotionless.

"...Too many questions."

One guard stepped closer.

"Miss, please cooperate."

Miyuki suddenly kicked him.

BOOM!

The guard crashed onto the floor.

The other guards immediately drew their weapons.

"Who are you?!"

"Don't move!"

Miyuki simply continued walking.

Several guns fired.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Miyuki raised one hand.

The bullets stopped against her palm and were redirected away.

The guards stared in disbelief.

"What?!"

Miyuki continued walking toward them.

Her expression hadn't changed.

To her...

This was routine.

Meanwhile — Assassin Club

Inside the Assassin Club, Julian Arkwright sat across from one of his clients.

The man introduced himself as Egan Reptofil.

Julian leaned back.

"You normally give your missions to a Dark Shade-ranked female assassin."

"So why did you hire me this time?"

Egan answered,

"Because she's currently unavailable."

"She's working on another mission in the city."

Julian narrowed his eyes.

"How do you know that?"

"She's one of my regular contacts."

"Hmm."

Julian crossed his arms.

"What's the mission?"

"Three targets."

Egan placed three photographs on the table.

Julian looked at them.

His expression immediately changed.

"Are you serious?"

"They're children."

Egan quickly raised his hands.

"Sir Julian, I'm only giving you the mission."

"If you don't want it, you can refuse."

Julian glared at him.

"Why do you want them dead?"

"They tried to rob me."

"They took some of my belongings and ran away."

Julian sighed.

"That's not really robbery."

"That's survival."

"Look at them."

"They're clearly poor."

"They probably took your things because they had nothing."

Then Julian's expression became serious.

"Wait."

"Don't tell me..."

"That female assassin kills children regularly?"

Egan hesitated.

"Yes."

Julian's eyes widened.

"She actually does?"

"Yes."

"I've paid her for those kinds of jobs before."

Julian slammed his hand against the table.

"Damn."

"I knew she was dangerous..."

"But I didn't realize she was that cruel."

Julian stared at Egan.

"How powerful is she?"

"I don't know her limits."

"But her physical strength and speed are terrifying."

"Her reflexes are also extremely good."

Julian became quiet.

"What's her name?"

Egan answered,

"Miyuki Hanado."

Back at Melvin Tower

Miyuki had already defeated the security guards.

She walked through the building without hesitation.

Eventually, she reached a private room.

She opened the door.

Her eyes immediately noticed something strange.

A young boy was on the floor.

He appeared to be treated like a servant.

He was eating from the shoe of a woman sitting comfortably in a chair.

The woman was Kimmy Leortson.

Kimmy seemed completely relaxed.

Miyuki frowned.

"Kupo told me Kimmy was kind..."

"Then what is this?"

Miyuki stepped forward.

"What's going on here?"

"Why are you treating that boy like this?"

The boy immediately stopped.

He suddenly lunged toward Miyuki.

Miyuki effortlessly dodged and stepped backward.

She could have killed him.

But she didn't.

She wanted answers.

"Don't come near my master!"

The boy shouted.

Kimmy looked annoyed.

"Hey, dog."

"Why did you stop?"

"Come back."

The boy immediately returned to Kimmy and resumed his previous position.

Miyuki watched silently.

"Something is wrong with him."

Suddenly—

Kimmy's main bodyguard attacked.

Miyuki sidestepped the strike.

BOOM!

Her kick sent the bodyguard crashing across the room.

Miyuki looked at Kimmy.

"You really thought these people could stop me?"

Kimmy immediately shouted,

"Olis!"

"Where are you?!"

A man suddenly appeared.

Olis launched himself toward Miyuki with tremendous speed.

Miyuki effortlessly dodged.

Somewhere Else

Julian Arkwright was teaching one of his juniors.

Julian asked,

"Tell me."

"What is the greatest fear of a Hydro Hunger-ranked assassin?"

The junior thought.

"Adventurers?"

Julian sighed.

"No, fool."

"Their greatest fear is a Dark Shade-ranked assassin."

"In the past, a single Dark Shade assassin defeated seven or more Hydro Hungers with almost no effort."

"The difference between those ranks is enormous."

Back at Melvin Tower

Olis stared at Miyuki.

His expression was no longer confident.

He was trembling.

Miyuki noticed immediately.

"Oh?"

"So you brought a Hydro Hunger-ranked assassin to fight me?"

She smiled.

"Is this supposed to be a joke?"

Kimmy's expression changed.

"Olis?"

"Why are you scared?"

Miyuki slowly walked toward him.

"Come here."

Olis hesitated.

Miyuki smiled.

"Come here, little dog."

Olis slowly approached.

Miyuki pointed toward Kimmy.

"Go and attack her."

Olis immediately obeyed.

He rushed toward Kimmy.

Miyuki suddenly raised her hand.

"Stop."

Olis froze.

"Come back."

Olis immediately returned.

Miyuki looked amused.

"Now..."

"Kiss my shoe."

Without hesitation, Olis dropped down and obeyed.

Kimmy's eyes widened.

"What?!"

Miyuki looked at her.

"As you can see..."

"A normal Hydro Hunger-ranked assassin is nothing more than a servant to me."

She glanced at Olis.

"I tortured this man for twenty-four days in the past."

"I eventually released him because a respected assassin ordered me to stop."

Kimmy couldn't believe what she was hearing.

Miyuki pointed toward the guards.

"Olis."

"Take care of all of them."

"Whether they're injured or healthy."

Olis immediately moved.

Kimmy watched in horror.

She had never imagined that Olis could be controlled so easily.

"How is this possible?"

Miyuki turned toward her.

"Give up."

"Your situation isn't going to improve."

"Just answer my questions."

Suddenly, Kimmy's servant rushed toward Miyuki again.

Miyuki became irritated.

But Olis intercepted him.

"Miss."

"I caught him."

The servant struggled.

"I'll kill you!"

"Don't make my master cry!"

Miyuki frowned.

"Hey."

"Enough."

"You talk too much."

She looked directly at Kimmy.

"Kimmy Leortson."

"I have some questions."

Kimmy laughed nervously.

"And why would I answer them?"

"You will."

"Otherwise..."

"I'll make you answer."

Kimmy shook her head.

"You won't do it."

Miyuki's expression became cold.

"Hmm."

"Okay."

"Then I'll show you."

She summoned a small flaming shuriken.

WHOOSH!

It struck Kimmy's left arm.

Kimmy screamed in pain.

"AHHH!"

Tears immediately filled her eyes.

"Okay!"

"I'll answer!"

Miyuki nodded.

"Good."

She glanced at the servant.

"That boy..."

"He's been drugged by Xunen Company, hasn't he?"

Kimmy looked confused.

"I don't know."

"I obtained him through an illegal organization."

"Their name is CC2."

"They hold underground meetings every Friday."

"CC2 attends those meetings."

"That's where I obtained the boy."

Miyuki's eyes narrowed.

"Xunen Company..."

"So the rumors were true."

"They kidnap children and teenagers and use drugs to control them."

"The drug destroys parts of their previous memories and forces obedience toward their master."

Miyuki slowly looked around the room.

"And CC2 is supplying people like this through underground meetings..."

She became thoughtful.

"So Nightglass Covenant has secretly started operating inside the city..."
