The first thing I noticed was Konstantin abandoned his marked spot, prowling toward Ilya. My stomach dropped.
"I will report you to the High Alpha for that stupid stunt," Konstantin spat, his face contorted. "All you do is fucking cheat."
Ilya seemed to pay him no mind, his gaze fixed on the distant horizon as if Konstantin were nothing more than background noise.
"Are you ignoring me, brat?" Konstantin drew a closed fist back. "Your future Beta?"
"Will you just stop for once—" Even Sylvanna began to interject, but Konstantin cut her off with a snarl.
"Women should speak only when spoken to, so fuck off before I beat you like your father should have."
He turned his attention back to Ilya, his nostrils flaring and his face flushed a deep, angry red. "Talk, wimp," he demanded, but Ilya continued to stare into space.
"Leave him alone," I said, my voice trembling with a mix of exhaustion and fury. "Just fucking stop. Doesn't this ever get old?"
