Chapter 6 - The Fallen Glory of the Ha Jin Clan

A steady rain fell over the Ha Jin estate, washing the stone paths and rooftops in silver streaks.

Thunder rolled faintly across the mountains.

Inside the main hall, lanterns burned late into the night.

Clan elders had gathered, their expressions heavy. Such meetings usually meant trouble.

Hēi Lang, now able to crawl freely, wandered the hallway under the excuse of childish curiosity.

In truth, he listened.

He slowly crawled behind a decorative pillar near the half-open door and pretended to play with a wooden toy.

His ears, however, were sharp.

---

One elder sighed deeply.

"Our clan once stood among the respected martial families of the region… but after the war with the Demon Cult, everything changed."

Another elder nodded grimly.

"We lost too many warriors… too many masters."

A third elder added, "Three generations of elite fighters were wiped out in that war."

Hēi Lang's mind sharpened.

*Demon Cult? So there was a major war before I was born.*

Years ago, the Murim world had nearly collapsed.

The Demon Cult suddenly rose in power, attacking clans, sects, and cities without mercy. Their techniques were cruel, destructive, and terrifying.

Entire martial families vanished overnight.

To stop them, righteous clans united under a temporary alliance.

The Ha Jin Clan answered the call without hesitation.

They became frontline fighters.

Their ancestors were famous for their martial art, feared even among enemies.

The clan's fighting style specialized in **close-range combat**.

It focused on:

• Explosive fist and palm strikes

• Energy concentrated into short, decisive blows

• Fast engagements that ended battles quickly

• Defensive redirection turning enemy strength against them

A fully trained Ha Jin warrior could shatter defenses with a single punch.

Their ancestors were nicknamed:

**"Iron Fists of the Frontline."**

They were warriors who broke enemy formations and protected allied clans.

But their strength demanded sacrifice.

They fought where battles were hardest.

And many never returned.

The elders' voices grew quieter.

"We won the war… but our clan lost almost everything."

Masters died protecting retreating allies.

Elite fighters stayed behind to delay Demon Cult armies.

Many clan heirs perished before passing down techniques.

And when the war ended…

The Ha Jin Clan was only a shadow of its former strength.

Their hidden manuals were damaged or stolen during the chaos.

Their strongest generation was gone.

The clan survived…

But barely.

Hēi Lang listened silently as another elder spoke bitterly.

"And after we weakened… our allies changed."

Some righteous clans, once saved by Ha Jin warriors, began eyeing their remaining techniques.

Requests to "share manuals" became common.

Trade deals turned unfair.

Support slowly vanished.

At the same time, remnants of the Demon Cult targeted clans who fought them.

The Ha Jin Clan, already wounded, became an easy target.

Trade routes were attacked.

Clan disciples disappeared during travels.

Bandits appeared more often near their territory.

Resources dwindled.

Students stopped joining.

Respect faded.

And slowly…

The Ha Jin Clan declined.

---

Behind the pillar, Hēi Lang absorbed every word.

*So they fought to protect others… and paid the price.*

And afterward…

Even former allies tried to take advantage of them.

His past life memories surfaced.

Kang Jun knew this truth well.

When you're strong, people respect you.

When you're weak, they take from you.

His tiny fists clenched.

*Then I'll make this clan strong again.*

Not loudly.

Not proudly.

But slowly.

Silently.

Like a wolf sharpening its fangs in darkness.

One day…

The Murim world would remember the Ha Jin Clan.

And this time, they would not fall again..
