After seven days of walking they finally reached the forest. They slowly walked through the entrance. The forest was huge with trees the size of six story buildings and were as wide as a room. The trees were spread out though with no tree touching each other unless it was the branches or leaves.
Nevooa walked to on of them and scraped the tree to get the bark off. He did this ten times then put the bark in his satchel.
"Yo, what's that for?" Komodo asked.
"It's so I can make something." Nevooa answered.
Komodo replied, "Just so you know the clan has a bunch of resources if you need something just ask."
"Alright." Nevooa said.
They walked through the forest for eleven minutes and haven't seen anything. No animals, insects, or people, just trees and plants.
They walked for a few more minutes until Komodo felt something strange. Komodo unsheathed his halberd and got into a fighting stance with his halberd facing the sky angled to slash anything that comes into his path.
Nevooa seeing this pulled out his sword and gripped it with both of his hands. Their backs were facing each other and they slowly walked backwards to touch each others back.
Once they had Nevooa asked, "Hey, what's going on right now?"
"There's something near us. Something large." Komodo whispered to try not to cause to much noise.
Suddenly a giant centipede came from behind a tree and stared them down. The centipede was at least 70 meters long and 10 meters wide. It had a six eyes and a mouth full of sharp teeth and pincers at the end.
It was breathing slowly as it kept looking at Komodo and Nevooa. Nevooa turned around and saw it.
The centipede in a quick burst rushed at them at incredible speed. Nevooa barely reacting moved only slightly to his right side but wasn't fast enough to doge.
Komodo swung his halberd slicing the centipede's head into two. The swing shook the forest telling it that they were there.
"NEVOOA! Follow me, we need to run!" Komodo said.
Nevooa ran the same direction Komodo was running.
"Why do we need to run Komodo?" Nevooa said while sprinting at his full speed.
"The attack I just threw shook the forest! That means other creatures here knows were here." Komodo said.
Suddenly a pack of wolves came behind a tree and started to chase them. Nevooa turned around. Nevooa was used to fighting creatures similar in size like mountain lions where he lived.
"You idiot! Keep running these wolves aren't normal ones!" Komodo yelled as he put his foot in the ground to stop his speed.
Nevooa's sword caught fire as he prepared to fight the wolves. The wolf in the front lunged at him with his mouth open. Nevooa pierced his sword straight through the wolf's head.
The other wolves stopped as their leader was killed right in front of them. They walked around Nevooa to incircle him.
In a second all the wolves were cut into two pieces. And a giant gust of wind blew. Nevooa looked in front of him and saw Komodo.
Komodo turned around and said, "You idiot we need to run. These wolves are puppets for something else. And every other creature might be a puppet too!"
"Wait," Nevooa said with a shocked expression. "Are you saying that everything in this forest is controlled by one being?"
"Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. We can't kill or be seen by anything in this forest or we might get jumped." Komodo said, "Now follow me."
Nevooa understanding the seriousness of the situation followed Komodo. Now the goal of being in the forest was not to find the other clans men but to survive. The forest would bend to the will of who ever controlled it and it knows they are in there so there would no exit for them to leave.
While running Nevooa felt an immense dread come towards him as he looked up and saw many different bugs and animals in the tree. And right in front of him he saw a river and knew there would be something inside.
