Stephanie's POV
"Have some tea." Cliff poured a fresh cup of tea, forwarding the cup toward me. It had a sweet floral scent and a reddish hue.
I took a sip. It had a floral aftertaste, nothing like usual black tea. "What tea is it?"
"Hibiscus." Cliff smiled, ringing the bell beside him like a Victorian-era noble. It took only a few seconds for a maid to appear. Unlike Mary, she was young and had a timid presence. Her face still having the innocence of youth.
Cliff handed her the plate, instructing her to warm it up. The maid nodded before leaving the room. She was hurrying as if one of us was going to devour her. Maybe she felt anxious in front of her employer, even though I was just one on paper.
