Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: your Brains

Mara pov

He leaned in so close his shadow swallowed me. "You are either very brave or very stupid, Mara Santi," he whispered.

I didn't back down. I pressed my back into the wall. Maintaining eye contact, but my blood was boiling. "What else do you want from me? You have the card. You have me. What is it?"

He didn't move his arms. He had me boxed in. "Do you want me to help your sister?"

"Yes," I snapped.

"Then you have two options," he said. His voice was deep but he sounded more like a whisper. "One, you prove your worth. You find something useful that makes me want to keep you alive and help the girl. Or two, you could offer me your body."

I felt a surge of rage. I didn't think about the guns outside. I didn't think about the poison incident. I swung my hand and slapped him across the face. Crack.

The sound echoed. I felt the sting in my palm. "How dare you!" I screamed. "I am not a toy!"

I tried to push him, but he didn't budge. His eyes turned dark and angry. He grabbed my wrist and squeezed it so hard, I gasped. He twisted my arm and shoved me toward the center of the room. I stumbled and fell to the ground.

"Don't you ever dare touch me again," I hissed from the floor.

He looked down at me like I was a bug. "Don't dream that I have an interest in you, girl. I am not the kind of man who wants someone like you. When I said offer your body, I meant for my men. They haven't had a woman in a long time. As for me, you are nothing."

"You monster!" I cursed him.

"I am a man with a clock," he said, pointing to the wall. It is 11:57 AM. "You have three minutes before Lina dies. And soon after, you join her."

"Give me my phone," I demanded. He tossed it onto the glass table. I grabbed it and tried to open the browser. Nothing. I tried to call the hospital. Dead.

"The network is blocked," he said, sitting in a leather chair. He started tapping on his own phone, looking away from me. "I control the IP address in this room. No internet. No calls. No help."

"How am I supposed to find information with no internet?"

"Use your brain," he said.

His words echoed in my head. He didn't even seem to care about my situation, I paced around the room with my fingers fidgeting. I felt miserable inside.

"This is insane?" I yelled at him. But he didn't even flinch he grabbed a seat at the edge of table and crossed his legs together, his eyes were locked on his phone.

"Your sister life is in your hands." He spoke, and his eyes were still fixed to his phone.

I tired to use my phone again and the same thing showed. "No internet connection" I felt like the earth was against me. Immediately the artificial voice spoke he gave out a smirk of satisfaction.

"You're a devil, I pressed my finger to my temple, tears sat in my eyes. "If you wanted to kill me then you should have done it, don't include my sister." I yelled, but my voices cracked and my throat felt sore.

"I don't run a charity foundation, if you want help. He tilted his head up and looked at the wall behind me, our gazes didn't meet. "Show me your value." He added, moving his gaze back to his phone.
