Chapter 407: The Monster of the Kengan Association
The small insects of autumn fluttered around the construction site's
floodlights, only to be scattered by the thunderous percussion of the battle
below.
BAM!!
Alai Jr.'s right cross connected squarely with Agito's face, smashing into his
nose and mouth. A fresh spray of crimson erupted into the night air.
"Hah!"
Agito swung a heavy counter-punch, but Alai Jr. was already moving. He danced
away with his [BUTTERFLY STEP], his upper body swaying back to clear the arc of
the strike.
The "Sting and Dance" was being pushed to its absolute technical limit. Alai Jr.
pivoted, his foot digging into the sand to ground his power. He dove into a gap
in Agito's right-side guard and unleashed a left hook.
POW!
The heavy punch slammed into Agito's cheek, momentarily deforming the flesh of
the Kengan King's face.
But Agito's combat logic wasn't based on simple evasion. His beastly instincts
had already accepted that he couldn't completely dodge Alai Jr.'s lightspeed
fists. Instead, he was focusing on "Effect Mitigation." He braced his neck and
tucked his chin to protect his vitals, while rolling his shoulders to keep his
center of gravity shifting.
By making himself a moving, vibrating target, he denied Alai Jr. the stationary
point required for a concussion-shot. The "Sting" that had ended Adam Dudley in
one frame was failing to find its mark here.
"This is the 'Improvisation' of the Fang," Metsudo Katahara explained to the
group. "During the struggle, Agito will gradually adapt to the opponent's
martial style and evolve a personalized counter-strategy."
Dr. Kureha Shinogi nodded, his arms crossed over his massive chest. "It's
similar to Ren Shiroki's approach, but while Ren explores the essence of the
move itself, Agito focuses on an external, predatory expansion. He is evolving
to consume Alai Jr."
"Heh... heh... heh...!!"
Agito's grisly, distorted laughter continued. Blood from his nose mired his
face, but to him, it was just a dull ache. The "Bee Sting" that should have
ended the match was being rendered ineffective by his sheer biological
adaptability.
"I see... so this is what it feels like to 'Deny the Outcome'?"
Agito bared his teeth, the muscles of his brow twisting into a jagged mask of
frenzy. He shifted his weight, closing the distance to unleash a relentless
barrage of punches and kicks.
Whish! Whish-shick!
Now that Agito had "Synchronized," it was no longer a boxing match. It had
transformed into a full-scale MMA war. Alai Jr. skipped and retreated, his body
swaying desperately to avoid the heavy limbs of the Fang, firing back with rapid
counters whenever he found a window.
Thud-thud!
Alai Jr. landed two heavy hits to Agito's head. But for the Fang, this was just
another frame of "Mitigation."
Going for the chin to rattle the brain? He simply lowered his stance a fraction,
taking the hit on his cheekbones to prevent the shock from reaching his brain
stem.
Going for a high-torque strike? He pressed forward, entering a range that looked
disadvantageous but allowed him to rotate his neck before the punch reached
terminal velocity, bleeding off the power.
Zip!
Alai Jr.'s fist grazed Agito's face, leaving a long, bleeding laceration, but it
was light-years away from a "Down."
"—?!"
The realization hit Alai Jr. like a physical blow. What the hell is this
monster?!
He adjusted his footwork again, but a knot of dread was beginning to tighten in
his gut. The more they fought, the more he felt the "Correctness" of the
underground world slipping away from him.
He had won every Kengan match since his debut. He had humbled [THE EMPEROR] Adam
Dudley. Because of those wins, he had begun to question the prestige of the
Association's "King."
But now he saw the truth. How could anyone stand on the same stage as this
creature and expect to survive? Did they really believe they could evolve faster
than a man who had survived a Gu Ritual?
SHICK!
Alai Jr. fought down a surge of nausea-inducing fear. He unleashed a flurry of
rapid-fire jabs into Agito's face, turning the Fang's features into a mask of
gore. The visual impact was staggering, but the technical result was zero. It
didn't stop Agito's advance for even a single frame.
"Heh... heh heh..."
Agito let out a low, guttural cackle. "No weight... there's no weight behind
those hands!"
"Not good enough! Those punches aren't 'Vibrant' enough! Are you overthinking?
Get serious! HIT ME HARDER!!"
Agito's voice dropped to a demonic roar. "Alai Jr.! I'm going to use everything
I have to put you in the ground!"
Under Alai Jr.'s horrified gaze, Agito's stance shifted. He dropped his hands
low, adopting a wide-open, aggressive press. He had traded his defense for 100%
offensive output.
"The boxing lesson is over. Push yourself to the limit... and let me evolve past
you!"
"THE FANG SURPASSES ALL! I FIGHT, THEREFORE I AM!!"
VROOM!
Agito lunged forward like an armor-piercing shell. He unleashed a storm of heavy
blows. Alai Jr. pivoted, his upper body arching back to dodge the initial
flurry, before diving into a gap to land another counter.
BAM-BAM!
Agito tanked the hits. Even with his mitigation, the damage was starting to
accumulate. His skin was bruised, and his breathing was getting heavy. But
everyone watching realized the same terrifying truth: unless Alai Jr. landed a
one-hit KO, Agito would simply keep coming until there was nothing left to
fight.
"Hah... hah...!"
Agito was masked in blood. But strangely, the man breaking into a cold sweat was
Alai Jr. He realized he couldn't visualize a single scenario where he walked
away as the winner.
Zip!
Agito shifted his angle, charging once more. This time, to stop the fear from
paralyzing him, Alai Jr. stood his ground, aiming a lethal strike directly at
the center of Agito's face.
—Now!
Alai Jr. fired.
In the next millisecond, Agito bottomed out. He performed a deep level-change,
his arms snapping wide for a double-leg entry. He ducked beneath the jab and
drove his shoulder into Alai Jr.'s waist.
It wasn't a boxing move. It was a high-level grappling entry.
"Oh?"
Ren Shiroki's eyes sharpened as he watched the screen. "That's Okubo's [STRIKE
TO THROW]. He's using the 'Synthesis' to break Alai's rhythm."
"Ho ho ho! Exactly," Metsudo laughed. "Agito watched your match with Okubo-kun.
He's replayed it a thousand times, practicing the transitions day and night.
He's just absorbed another 'Nutrient' for his evolution."
"SHAA—!"
Agito roared, hoisting Alai Jr. off the ground by his waist. He performed a
massive, high-amplitude backdrop.
BOOM!
Alai Jr. was slammed into the earth. The shock of the impact made his vision go
white and his pupils quiver. He tried to scramble back to his feet, but Agito
was already on top of him.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
Agito began a relentless barrage of [SOCCER KICKS], targeting the ribs and chest
of the downed boxer.
Zip!
Alai Jr. used his arms to push off the sand, sliding backward to evade the
lethal boots by a hair. But Agito didn't let up. He pursued him across the dirt,
raining down more kicks.
Shick-shick-shick!
Alai Jr. was forced into a desperate roll, kicking up clouds of dust as he
struggled to clear the "Kill-Zone." He was no longer a "Son of God"; he was a
man struggling to breathe.
Tall. Dense. Resilient. Agile. Monstrous.
The words flashed through Alai Jr.'s concussed mind. But they weren't enough. No
adjective could truly capture the horror of the [FANG OF METSUDO].
Zip!
Agito lunged forward, snaring Alai Jr.'s leg and yanking him back. In a single
fluid motion, he bypassed the guard and moved into a full mount.
"Hah—! Hah—! Hah—!"
Steam rolled off Agito's body as he pinned the boxer to the sand. He clenched
his fists and began a vertical execution.
BAM! THUD! POW!
Alai Jr. swayed his head to slip the first few, but a heavy hammer-fist finally
found its mark. The follow-up barrage was a storm—a deluge of knuckles raining
down on his face.
THUD-THUD-THUD!!!
Agito landed nearly twenty unanswered blows in a matter of seconds. Finally, he
paused. He maintained the mount, his left palm pressing down on Alai's chest
while his right fist remained raised and ready.
Through the curtain of his messy hair, Agito stared down at his prey.
Alai Jr. was unrecognizable. His face was a mask of pulverized tissue and gore.
His lips were split, and his arms lay limp on the sand. But his fingers
twitched, and his chest was still heaving.
He still wants to go...
Agito didn't hesitate. He launched a second round of mounted ground-and-pound.
Each punch was heavier than the last. He hammered them down with a terrifying,
predatory grin.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!!!
