Chapter 39 - Ch 39- Mission Accomplished

The medicine bottle made a soft swishing sound as it was shaken. A dozen minutes earlier, Arata had contacted the underground physician known as Heaven Canceller and requested ether. He had only asked for a small dose sufficient to induce full unconsciousness, but the doctor seemed to sense ill intent and refused. In the end, Arata quietly took a high efficiency anesthetic from the cabinet instead.

When we return, the doctor will definitely scold us.

"Anesthetic? Planning to use something like that on me? Do not get arrogant, you lowlife."

Accelerator stared at him with chilling killing intent, her teeth clenched, her fists trembling slightly.

"You only defeated me once through trickery. I already understand what kind of person you are. You are a multi skill esper, are you not? That so called Level 5 telekinesis is just camouflage."

"You would figure that out after experiencing it a few times. I never hid it. I simply layered abilities one after another. Academy City gave me the classification of psychic manipulation. So? Have you calculated a way to kill me?"

Arata smirked as he spoke. He stepped toward the Misaka Sister, disarmed her with a swift motion, and casually pulled her aside to prevent interference.

The smell of medical disinfectant clinging to her uniform was unpleasant.

He had seen the original Misaka earlier, and now he stood beside one of her clones. Genetically identical. Structurally indistinguishable. The only difference was the absence of the emotional variance unique to the original.

If necessary, he would eventually have to seek out the upperclassman from Nagatenjouki Academy City University to explore whether emotional data could be synchronized into the Misaka Network.

At this stage, Last Order had not yet been produced, so there was no supervisory control unit to block interference.

"Interesting. Truly interesting. I always suspected it, yet hearing you confirm it is thrilling. A true multi skill esper. That is extraordinary."

Behind the cruelty in Accelerator's eyes flickered memories of the institute before she turned nine years old.

The Special Ability User Multiple Adjustment Research Institute. She would never forget that place.

If those scum in the city understood that a genuine multi skill esper stood before them, how would they react?

None of that mattered now.

"You lowlife. The ability that disrupts my vector control is one of your powers, correct? I have recalculated it dozens of times. There is an activation interval of over thirty seconds. Correct?" Accelerator's crimson eyes locked onto Arata as she smiled sharply.

"Correct. The interval is long. But in a single moment, it is sufficient to bisect you."

Arata lightly tapped the Misaka Sister's cheek and used spatial transfer to send her to the hospital. He then turned back to Accelerator and made a small provoking gesture.

"Heh. How amusing." Accelerator laughed softly, though her eyes were cold. Even with a long interval, that ability bordered on unsolvable. Still, a weakness that obvious could be exploited through calculation.

"I have wasted enough breath." Arata observed her expression. She was already running combat simulations in her head instead of attacking immediately.

A painless syringe appeared in his hand, preloaded with anesthetic.

At the precise moment Accelerator completed her internal calculation and prepared to counterattack, her vector control abruptly failed.

"Wh…"

Her pupils contracted.

Without her ability, she lacked the physical conditioning of an ordinary fighter. Years of reliance on calculation and vector manipulation had left her body comparatively fragile.

Arata moved instantly. He closed the distance and secured her arms before she could retreat. The syringe pressed against her neck.

"You…"

Cold liquid entered her bloodstream.

Her heart rate spiked violently.

Damn it.

Three seconds. That disruptive ability can only suppress me for three seconds. After that, I purge the chemical compound by manipulating blood flow and bioelectricity.

One second. Two seconds. Five seconds.

Her vision blurred.

"Nine seconds," Arata murmured quietly before releasing her.

Her vector control returned, but too late. Her body collapsed forward, strength gone.

"Despicable…"

Her voice was hoarse and laced with murderous intent.

Moments later, she lost consciousness completely.

Arata looked down at her thoughtfully.

"After extracting a one star card from a Misaka clone earlier, she has already forced three activations of the one minute suppression limit. That equals nine seconds of total disruption. If it had only been six seconds, she would have purged the anesthetic from her bloodstream before it reached the brain."

Accelerator's vector control had already reached electronic precision. She could manipulate signals at a microscopic level, even interfere with digital systems.

Arata swallowed as he looked at her unconscious form. What he intended to do next was something ethically indefensible, yet tied to his card extraction mechanism.

He scanned the area to confirm no surveillance interference. Then he lifted her carefully, carried her into an empty steel container, and sealed the door using telekinesis.

Time passed.

Ten minutes later, Arata stepped out alone. His expression was calm, though faintly flushed from exertion.

Accelerator remained unconscious inside.

"I did not expect a three star extraction to succeed on the first attempt," he muttered quietly. "The synchronization threshold was lower than projected."

In his hand was a gleaming three star card that had not yet been activated.

This was the first time he had obtained a three star card.

The anesthetic dosage had been carefully calculated. If extended interaction had been required, the duration would have been insufficient.

"As expected, the first calibration requires thorough structural confirmation."

He placed the recovered garment neatly beside her before leaving the container once more.

"Now this truly becomes a battle to the death."

The experimental grounds were silent again.

"If we meet again…"
