"That's cutting through solid objects to hit what's behind them!"
"You can slash one thing and wound something completely separate on the other side."
Rasa looked at the desk in front of him. A drawer held several gold bars.
He raised the slender blade and swung it straight through the tabletop.
Metal rang sharply. He pulled the knife back.
The desk was untouched. The drawer was untouched.
But every gold bar inside had been sliced clean in half.
"This ability is seriously creepy. If an enemy doesn't know what it does, they're screwed the second they try to block."
Normally a shinobi would dodge or raise a kunai to parry. The Anubis Blade ignored all that. It could slice right through the kunai and into flesh on the other side.
"On top of that, it can take control of anyone who touches the blade or the hilt."
"Perfect for combat. I can 'accidentally' drop it, let the enemy grab it… and watch them turn on their own people."
"This thing is worth every bit of S-rank."
At first, when he realized it was a substitution technique, Rasa had felt a little disappointed it wasn't something as flashy as Star Platinum. Anubis never had the biggest presence in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
But turning a basic C-rank Sand Substitution into this? He was more than satisfied. It was easily on par with every other S-rank technique he'd pulled so far.
A figure stepped into the Kazekage's office.
"Lord Kazekage."
"Lieg. What's going on?"
Rasa looked up at Red Mountain Lieg with an easy smile.
As someone who had made the same choice Uchiha Itachi once did, Rasa would have hated any other member of the Red Mountain clan. But he represented Sunagakure now. Lieg's betrayal of his own family had saved the village from far worse losses.
"Lord Kazekage, the Mechanism Sand Boat is finished."
"Really?"
"I've already tested it. It works perfectly."
Rasa's face lit up.
"Let's go take a look right now."
"Yes, Lord Kazekage."
They flashed out into the desert. Lieg opened a scroll.
A sleek sand boat materialized in front of them.
It wasn't exactly like a sea ship, but that didn't matter. As long as it could carry people and cargo with solid transport power, looks were irrelevant.
"It can run on chakra or pure human power."
"Human power makes it a lot slower, though."
Rasa nodded.
"Test it."
"Yes, Lord Kazekage."
They leapt onto the deck. Lieg activated the mechanism, pressing his palm into a recessed panel.
Chakra flowed in.
Rasa felt the deck vibrate beneath his feet. The sand on either side began sliding backward. The boat surged forward, steadily gaining speed until wind whipped across the deck.
"Good. Now try human power."
"Yes, Lord Kazekage."
Lieg shut the chakra panel and moved to another section that looked a lot like bicycle pedals. He sat down and started pumping his legs.
It moved… but much slower. Even with a ninja's superior physical conditioning. An ordinary person couldn't even get it started—one boat would need dozens of people pushing at once.
Rasa watched both modes and frowned.
Chakra power was fast but burned through reserves quickly. You'd need teams of shinobi rotating constantly, which limited how many boats you could actually run.
Human power was too slow and exhausted the operators fast.
Either way, widespread adoption would be tough. And if the boats didn't spread, Sunagakure's transport capacity stayed weak, which meant commerce would never really take off.
Then it hit him.
"Right. I still have the Sun Disks."
Rasa turned toward the massive structures in the distance.
Each Sun Disk had three modules: energy absorption, storage, and attack.
"I can make lightweight copies of the storage module. Transfer the energy the disks absorb into those copies and use them as the boats' power source."
"Better than ninja chakra or human labor. Cleaner. Unlimited."
"And I can still charge people for it."
"Plus we've got two Tailed Beasts now—Shukaku and the Six-Tails. Both have insane chakra reserves that regenerate. Limit the output and it's basically infinite clean energy."
"Three Sun Disks and two Tailed Beasts could easily power hundreds of these boats."
Back in the village, Rasa moved fast. A brand-new department was created: the Mechanism Sand Boat Management Division.
It split into two teams.
Red Mountain Lieg headed the Production Team, focused purely on building more boats.
The Energy Team would be led by Chiyo in the early stages.
"Before that," Rasa said, looking at Lieg, "build ten boats as quickly as possible. Run the first ones on ninja chakra so the merchants can see them in action. Get their attention."
"Yes, Lord Kazekage."
Rasa was confident. Once the Sand Boat network took off, it would supercharge Sunagakure's commerce—and the entire Land of Wind's economy along with it.
The biggest profits, of course, would stay right here in the village.
He watched Lieg leave, then climbed to the roof of the Kazekage Tower and looked out over his growing domain.
"The village is getting better every day."
After a moment he pulled his gaze back.
"Now… how do I push the White Fang rumor even harder?"
"Too bad I didn't pull a perfect forged suicide note."
"If I could fake a letter from one of the teammates on Sakumo's final mission and run it in the Weekly, that would light the whole thing on fire again."
A new idea sparked in his mind.
"Right now the whole ninja world thinks Kakashi is missing, but Konoha keeps denying it."
"What if I put a massive bounty in the Ninja World Big Events Weekly for any information on Kakashi's whereabouts? When no one from the Leaf can produce him… they're going to look extremely guilty."
