The evening passed quickly, and before he knew it, the clothes were sorted.
Silas went to bed and got knocked out.
Sorting clothes are not for the weak.
Waking up the next morning, he rolled over and picked up his phone.
He had woken up five minutes before his alarm. Luck or misfortune? That's a debate.
Glancing at his phone he thought about it and sent a: Good morning. To Alice.
He then stood up, grabbed his favorites of his new clothes and walked to the shower.
Feeling the warm water wet his hair and caress his skin, he thought about Alice.
She had been on his mind constantly since the kiss. He had never experienced this.
This feeling of just wanting to exist in her proximity… it was both good and bad.
Good when close to her… bad when away.
He also felt a little anxious… afterall he wasn't honest with Alice, and sure she wasn't honest with him.
But he knew and still felt this way, would she if she knew about him?
Could she truly grasp what he was? Just how inhuman?
'Cause that's what he was, inhuman. He was closer to being a god than human.
And he wasn't sure Alice could accept that. Few actually could.
He reached for the shower mixer and turned off the water. Stepping out of the shower he was in deep thought.
After drying off he put the towel around his waist and stood in front of the mirror.
Should I just let her know the power I am currently revealing? Then at a later date when I've further assessed her mental state, reveal more?
He clenched his jaw.
Decisions, decisions.
After he put on his clothes he arrived at his nightstand. He picked up his phone and read the message from Alice.
"Good Morning."
Alright. Let's do that.
He felt a little scared at the thought of Alice rejecting him. He had to pull her in to the point it was too late for her, she had to be in his grasp.
Wait!
Silas rubbed his chin with a thoughtful expression. Why did that sound like something a villain would say?
The whole thing seemed like something a villain would do… no?
No! I was doing it with good intentions, yes, there was a difference, okay?
He put his phone into his pocket and walked downstairs. Time for breakfast.
Like usual he made his questionable sandwich and then sat down at the kitchen island and started to eat.
The only bad thing about eating like this is… it's boring.
If you have someone to talk to it's fine, but all alone like now?
Sigh.
The one thing he did miss from his first life was all the fast entertainment.
Oh well. He took the last bite and put the plate in the sink.
He grabbed his keys and phone, and headed for his car.
As he sat down and started the car he reached for his gums in the center console.
Chewing on the mint gum he fiddled with the radio until he found a station playing music and not talking about something no one wanted to hear about.
Radio hosts… do they really think we want to listen to them? No! We want to hear music, not some worthless talk about if something is right or wrong.
Or what you ate.
No one cares. Really!
This was Silas's pet peeve. The constant chatter of the radio hosts.
Say the most important things and then just play music.
He drove off while nodding his head to the music.
A few minutes later he drove up to the Cullens house.
He saw Alice standing outside swaying back and forth on the soles of her feet and hands behind her back.
When she saw him drive up she smiled and ran over. She opened the door and got inside.
Silas turned his head and was about to say hello, but just then Alice took the chance and leaned in and planted a kiss on his lips.
Silas felt the soft lips on his, and a sense of deja vu washed over him.
Hmm… didn't this happen yesterday? Is she gonna run away now?
They separated and locked eyes.
"Hello." Alice said with a smile.
Silas smiled back.
"Hello."
They both laughed and then Silas leaned in and gave her another quick kiss.
"Come on, drive or we'll be late to pick up Kate." Alice said shyly.
Silas leaned back in his seat and turned around. Just then he felt two pairs of eyes on him.
He frowned and quickly activated his divine sense. On the second floor of the Cullen house Esme and Carlisle stood.
It seems they had been watching their interaction in the car.
Silas's brows relaxed and he stopped caring.
They were just two worried parents. To be honest he would be more worried if they didn't try and spy.
At least this showed that they cared. Although it was a bit of an invasion of privacy.
Alice noticed his change in expression.
"What's up?"
Silas snapped out of his thoughts and glanced over then smiled.
"Nothing, I was just thinking about the hardships of sorting the clothes last night."
Alice let out a chuckle.
"I offered to help."
Silas nodded.
"I regret not waiting for you to help me."
Alice shook her shoulders like it was obvious.
They listened to music and drove to Kate's house.
When they arrived Kate was already waiting outside. She seemed a little anxious.
But when she saw the car she breathed a sigh of relief. She thought she was gonna be late.
Silas stopped in front of her and she jumped in the backseat.
"You're late."
Silas looked back and smiled.
"Sorry, some stuff took longer than expected." As he said that he glanced over at Alice.
Seeing him looking at her Alice showed a displeased expression.
"You're the driver." She retorted.
Hearing this Silas couldn't help but roll his eyes. So what? You distracted the driver.
Kate saw their interaction and felt inexplicably irritated.
"Let's hurry so we aren't late."
Hearing this Alice nodded.
"Yeah, hear that Silas, hurry."
Sigh.
I can't win.
Silas ignored the two gremlins and drove towards the school. He missed his good brother Emmett.
He could already imagine the weekend and playing MK.
It was just around the corner, today and tomorrow then it was time.
...
Enjoy.
