Chapter 57 - Chapter 57: The Sovereign’s Retreat and the Ledger of Greed

The year 120 BBY arrived with a collective yawn from the galaxy. On Coruscant, the spires of the Jedi Temple remained bathed in a golden, stagnant light, and the Galactic Senate continued its endless cycle of debating sub-committees for the creation of further sub-committees. To Revan Shan, the atmosphere was becoming a localized disaster of administrative fluff.

"You know, Calculus," Revan murmured, scratching the purring Loth-Cat behind its oversized ears as he sat in the Sovereign's Command Chair on the bridge of the Black Pearl. "According to my 3rd Doctorate in Sentient Sociology, Coruscant has reached a 'Stagnation Equilibrium.' It's so stable it's practically vibrating with boredom. If I have to attend one more lecture on the ethics of Mid-Rim taxation, I might actually audit my own sanity."

Calculus let out a soft, trilling meow and kneaded the Phrik-filament weave of the chair's armrest.

"Exactly. Adventure is the journey, and my journey currently requires a beach with zero Senators," Revan grinned, popping a lemon candy. "Cortana, prep the Class 0.5 Hyperdrive. We're jumping to Lehon. I have a date with a hammock and a very large bowl of tropical fruit."

The Lehon Sabbatical: Nap-Angle Optimization

The jump to Lehon was a whisper in the dark. Thanks to the Automatic Stealth Generator and the Jump-Snapping engine tuning, the Black Pearl vanished from Coruscant and reappeared in the Unknown Regions before the Temple's hangar droids even realized the slot was empty.

Landing at the "Vacation Home," Revan didn't even bother unpacking. He reclined the Sovereign's Command Chair to its ultimate configuration.

> The Sovereign Nap Probability Equation (P_{nap}):

> The chair utilized its Force-Probability sensors to monitor Revan's subconscious. As he drifted, the seat shifted by 0.5 degrees every few minutes, matching the subtle shifts in his Force-presence to ensure he never woke up with a stiff neck. It was, in his professional opinion, his greatest engineering feat.

"Status report, Cortana," Revan mumbled through a half-dream.

"The Prodigal Knight remains hidden beneath the waves, 100% operational," the AI replied, her hologram sitting on the edge of the console. "The Rakatan Thermal Shrouds are masking the planet's heat signature perfectly. You are officially the most invisible man in the galaxy."

The Whisper in the Spire: The Trade Federation

While Revan relaxed, the Kyber-Quantum Processing Arrays on the Black Pearl were silently auditing the encrypted data-streams from Coruscant. Through the Prodigal Knight's satellite network, Revan had a back-door into the Senate's most private ledgers.

Suddenly, a sharp, high-pitched chime echoed through the bridge. Revan sat up, Calculus tumbling onto the floor with an indignant hiss.

"Revan, I've flagged a significant ripple in the legislative sub-sectors," Cortana said, her avatar turning a serious shade of deep violet. "A collective of merchant guilds, led by the Trade Federation, has just secured a 'Special Interest' status within the Senate. They are lobbying for the right to hold their own legislative votes on trade-route security."

Revan leaned forward, the 12th Doctor's cold intensity taking over. "So it begins. The merchant kings are tired of paying taxes to a Republic that can't protect them, so they're buying the right to protect themselves. According to my 10th Doctorate in Galactic History, this is the first step toward a corporate military state."

"They've just been granted 'Observer Status' in the Senate," Cortana added. "It's a can of worms, Revan. They're effectively becoming a sovereign entity within the Republic."

"And the Jedi?" Revan asked, popping a fresh candy.

"Meditating on the 'Golden Age,' as usual. They see it as a bureaucratic victory for trade stability."

"Brilliant," Revan sighed, reclining back into the gel-padding. "They're building a cage and calling it a garden. Well, I'm not a guardian, and I'm certainly not a Senator. Let them play their corporate games. I've got ninety years to watch the wreck happen. But keep the satellites on them, Cortana. I want to know the second they start ordering droid armies."

The Ancestor's Forge: Feeling the Flow

The vacation wasn't all naps and lattes. Every evening, beneath the bronze glow of Lehon's twin moons, Revan entered the training cathedral of the Rakatan Foundry. He activated the Personal Holocron of Revan, and the ancestor appeared, his flickering image looking more ancient and weary than usual.

"You look at the Senate and see numbers, descendant," the hologram spoke, its voice a rhythmic hum that vibrated in the air. "You see the Trade Federation as a variable in a calculation. You are still trying to audit the Force with your mind."

"I have eleven doctorates, ancestor! Analyzing variables is what I do!" Revan quipped, igniting his Balanced Purple and Natural Red blades.

"Then your doctorates will be your tomb," the ancestor barked. "The Force is not a ledger! It is a storm! If you calculate the wind, you are already dead. Feel the air, Revan! Don't look for the strike—be the space where the strike meant to be!"

The 5 Mark IV Sith Training Droids ignited their sabers and lunged. Revan didn't use his Theoretical Physics to track their arcs. He didn't use his Mathematics to predict their vectors. He closed his eyes and let the "feeling" take over—the raw, unrefined current of the Force he had synchronized with on Ilum.

He moved in a blur of Form VI Niman, his blades weaving a defensive web that felt less like combat and more like a dance. When a droid struck, Revan didn't parry; he flowed. He utilized Force Enhance not to move faster, but to feel the possibility of movement before it happened.

"Trust the void!" the ancestor shouted.

Revan let go. He felt the droids' electronic intent as a ripple in a pond. He utilized a localized Force Repulse, not by pushing, but by allowing the energy around him to simply expand because he willed it to be so. The droids were sent skidding across the floor, their logic-cores temporarily scrambled by the sheer, uncalculated weight of the burst.

"Better," the ancestor whispered as Revan deactivated his blades. "You are starting to trust the Current. Science explains the 'How.' The feeling explains the 'Why.' Never forget the difference."

The Sovereign's Peace

As the middle of 120 BBY approached, Revan sat on the observation deck of his villa, a 'Vintage' latte in his hand and Calculus curled at his feet.

"120 BBY," Revan mused, watching the sunset over the sapphire ocean. "The Trade Federation is the new shadow in the Senate. The Sith are corporate CEOs. The Jedi are taking naps. And I... I have a 3KM dreadnought, a legion of droids, and the best chair in the galaxy."

"And a cat," Cortana reminded him.

"And a cat," Revan laughed, popping a final lemon candy. "Adventure is the journey, D6. And right now, the journey is looking remarkably comfortable. Let the galaxy play its games. We'll be here when the audit actually matters."

The Black Pearl sat silent on the landing pad, its satellites whispering secrets of the Senate across the stars. Revan Shan was not in a rush. He was the Auditor. And the books of the High Republic were just starting to get interesting.
