Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Birth of Steel

The morning air carried a new tension.

Not fear. Preparation.

Kael stood at the center of the expanding Titanblood Tribe, watching warriors drill with crude wooden weapons — swings too slow, footwork too loose, everything about it built for survival rather than actual war.

Too slow. Too weak. Too primitive.

The system flickered a warning across his vision.

[ Warning: Combat Readiness Below Recommended Threshold ][ Suggestion: Weapon Development Required ]

Kael's eyes sharpened.

"…Then we build real weapons."

The System Opens

He stepped into the crafting hall and opened his panel.

Available System Points: 980

He didn't hesitate.

[Ding!]

Weapon Crafting → Level 2Primitive Metallurgy → Level 1Archery Mastery → Level 2Armor Reinforcement → Level 1

Heat rippled through his mind as the knowledge settled in — balance points, draw weights, blade curvature, the techniques behind proper hide reinforcement, all of it arranging itself into something he could actually use.

He exhaled slowly.

Now they were ready to evolve.

Phase One: The First War Bows

Kael selected the wood himself — flexible, but strong enough to hold real tension. He worked in silence, his hands moving with a precision that hadn't been there a week ago.

SHHHK… SHHHK…

The first proper war bow took shape beneath his hands. Longer. Stronger. Deadlier than anything the tribe had used before.

Dean watched from the side, blue eyes narrowing at the finished piece. "That bow… feels dangerous."

Kael handed it over. "Draw."

Dean pulled the string — and his expression shifted instantly.

"…Heavy."

"Designed for real warriors," Kael said.

Dean's mouth curved into something close to a smirk. For the first time since arriving, it wasn't a challenge in his eyes.

It was approval.

Archery Test

Targets went up at distance across the field. Dean nocked an arrow and released.

THWACK!

It punched deep into the thick wood, deep enough that gasps rippled through the crowd gathered to watch. Even the Abyssari women leaned in with genuine interest.

They respected strength above almost everything else.

And this was strength.

Phase Two: Arrow Production Line

Angelika stepped up beside Kael, already running the numbers in her head.

"If we standardize the shaft length, we can triple output."

Kael glanced at her. "…Do it."

Her lips curved faintly as she turned and sent orders flying across the workshop. Within the hour, rows of arrows began forming — clean, sharp, uniform in a way that hunter's tools never were.

The Titanblood Tribe wasn't relying on hunting equipment anymore.

These were war supplies.

Phase Three: The First Blade

As evening settled in, Kael moved to the forge pit, his newly unlocked metallurgy knowledge guiding every step — the stone furnace, the layered charcoal, the careful control of airflow that kept the heat exactly where he needed it.

Dean folded his arms, watching. "You can make real blades with this?"

Kael's answer was simple. "Watch."

Forging Moment

The fire roared to life. Metal glowed orange, then white. The hammer came down.

CLANG!CLANG!CLANG!

Sweat ran down Kael's neck, his muscles tightening with every strike under the firelight.

Elara watched from the side, her expression softening.

He's pushing himself again…

Angelika watched too, but differently — cold, calculating, and unmistakably impressed underneath it.

The First Titanblade

Finally, Kael lifted the finished weapon into the firelight — a crude but deadly short sword, balanced and heavy in a way that promised it wouldn't fail him when it mattered.

The system flashed.

[ New Item Created: Titanblade (Primitive Grade) ][ Crafting Proficiency Increased ]

Dean stepped forward immediately. "Let me."

Kael tossed him the blade. Dean swung once, and the air split with a sharp whistle behind the motion.

His eyes widened slightly. "…Good weight."

High praise, coming from a man built like a wall.

Armor Development

Kael wasn't finished yet.

"Bring the titan beast hides."

Thick hides were laid out across the workshop floor, and using his Armor Reinforcement knowledge, Kael began shaping them into something practical — layered hide vests, shoulder guards, forearm wraps built to move with the body instead of against it.

One of the Abyssari women tested a finished set, lifting the full weight of it in one hand without strain.

"…Acceptable."

For a race twice as strong as any human — that was as close to praise as it got.

The Emotional Undercurrent

As night settled, the training ground glowed under torchlight — warriors practicing with the new bows, arrows arcing through the dark, blades flashing as Dean ran drills with the rest of his men.

The tribe was changing. Fast. Almost too fast.

Elara approached Kael quietly, her voice soft but edged with something more serious than usual.

"You're turning us into something dangerous."

Kael looked out over the training ground — over the bows, the blades, the warriors who a week ago had been farmers and refugees.

"…The world out there is worse."

For a moment, she had no answer for that.

System Notification

Inside his vision, the system chimed through a final string of updates.

[ Village Combat Power: SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED ][ Elite Warrior Path: Unlock Progress 52% ][ Dean Loyalty: High ][ Multiple Female Interest Signals Detected ]

Kael's brow twitched.

"…Ignore last notification."

The system, as always, remained silent — and entirely unbothered.
