Chapter 259 - NFLS: Chapter 259

"Shinya!"

Aoi waved his hand, summoning Shinya. For Aoi, finding the elusive and unpredictable Orochimaru in any story world was actually quite simple.

All he needed to do was summon Shinya, and then perform the reverse summoning technique...

"White Snake Sage... we meet again." Aoi grinned lightly. Before him, the White Snake Sage's eyes widened in sheer terror.

"Who are you?! Why do you possess Sage Chakra from the Ryūchi Cave?!"

"Does that really matter?" Aoi smiled and stretched his neck forward. "According to the ancient rules, you are supposed to bestow Sage Chakra upon me!"

The fear in the White Snake Sage's eyes deepened. This was the first time it had ever encountered a human whose strength and destiny it could not see through or predict. But what was even more terrifying...

Was that this human seemed to know absolutely everything about it!

"I hope you do not come to regret this!" The White Snake Sage hissed a threat and bit down hard.

It secretly channeled all its strength, intending to rip Aoi's head right off his shoulders in one strike.

"Serpent Sage Mode!"

Silver-white scales surged forth, drastically reducing the force of the bite. The serpent's fangs only just barely managed to pierce the skin on Aoi's neck.

But immediately after, the White Snake Sage realized something horrifying...

A terrifying suction force suddenly erupted from within Aoi's body, ferociously draining the Sage Chakra right out of it.

In just ten seconds, the massive serpent had visibly shrunk to half its original size.

"Dammit! Stop this at once!"

The White Snake Sage — the one doing the biting — was writhing in agony. In stark contrast, Aoi — the one being bitten — looked completely blissful.

"So good..."

Aoi closed his eyes, savoring the sensation. As massive amounts of Sage Chakra poured into him, his silver-white serpent scales grew thicker and more radiant.

The dragon horns atop his head seemed to lengthen ever so slightly, and even the two small serpents coiled around his arms grew more ferocious and distinct...

The White Snake Sage's "beauty treatment" — truly living up to its reputation!

He just didn't know exactly how many White Snake Sages he would have to drain dry to unlock the next stage of the Serpent Sage Mode.

Only when the serpent was completely exhausted, shrunken and dried out, did Aoi pull its fangs free and toss the limp body aside...

"Just... who... are you?" The White Snake Sage lifted its head weakly, filled with grief. "We have never wronged you in the past or present... why are you doing this to me?!"

"I am looking for Orochimaru."

"OROCHIMARU?!"

The White Snake Sage ground its teeth in rage. So it's that bastard's enemies coming to settle scores! And I had to be the one to take the hit!

Without the slightest hesitation, the White Snake Sage betrayed Orochimaru.

To it, Orochimaru was merely an interesting human acquaintance — certainly not worth sacrificing its own life for!

The White Snake Sage directly used Sage Arts to teleport Aoi away. The destination: Orochimaru's secret laboratory...

Aoi opened his eyes. The surroundings were just as dim and gloomy as expected.

Orochimaru sat beneath the flickering light of a yellow candle, resting his chin in his hand while listening to Kabuto Yakushi ramble on.

Just like in the anime — whenever Orochimaru and Kabuto appeared together, nine times out of ten, this was exactly the scene...

Aoi's sudden arrival startled Kabuto badly. He roared, drawing his Chakra Scalpel, ready to cut down this intruder.

But Orochimaru raised a hand to stop him. "Kabuto... you are no match for him."

"But Lord Orochimaru!"

Kabuto tried to protest, wanting to show his loyalty and worth, but Orochimaru simply shook his head again. "This person comes from the Ryūchi Cave. Leave us now."

Orochimaru only ever gave an order once. If he had to repeat it, the consequences were severe. Kabuto dared not disobey and quietly withdrew.

"Now... it is just the two of us."

Orochimaru's pale, yellow, serpent-like eyes glimmered faintly in the dim candlelight. "You may tell me your true purpose now."

Still maintaining that imposing aura... Aoi thought. No matter who he faces, Orochimaru always acts as if a mountain could crumble before him and he wouldn't even blink.

Aoi thought for a moment, then pointed at the tiny, flickering oil lamp on the table and grinned.

"I just have one question. Is it possible that the great Orochimaru — a man wealthier than a nation — cannot afford to buy a single proper lamp?"

Orochimaru said nothing. But Aoi could clearly see the corner of his eye twitch violently...
